Knowledge is power

When Saturday turned around, I found myself holed up in the library once again. There was no use in dwelling on my actions for too long. I had to work in a grey area. Therefor I quickly slipped into the restricted section as early as the library opened. It was a honour to have the privilege to walk between those ancient and well, forbitten tomes. I was really grateful that 'Moody' had given me the a full permission to study them as an 'privilege for an advanced student in preparation for future work in the field of Defences against the dark arts' as he had explained to Madame Prince the fact that she had to led me come and go from the forbidden area as much as I wanted. Shuffling through the bookshelves I searched for books about the old ways. Discovering ancient ways to do magic and seeing what kind of spells were created in the past fascinated me. How was it that there were totally different kinds of using magic without us ever learning about them? You only heard tales about wandless magic, you learned to read the ancient runes but not the fact that they could be used for so much more... I even found a section where divination was used to alter the past and the future. All that knowledge wasted, only accessible to a selected few. Still I had to admit these could do a lot of harm should the wrong person use them and Hogwarts didn't even have everything covered!

Making notes in an notebook that I had especially enchanted to only show its contents with the right password, I collected everything that seemed useful for me. Only when Madame Prince shouted that the library would close in fifteen minutes, I stopped.

Sorting everything back in its place I checked what I had gotten done. A collection of Rune magic had found its way in my book, some ways to alter spells and one of my new favourites combine them. It wasn't much yet but I was convinced that with a bit more time I could create something new. After all that's what I wanted. Change.

Maybe I wouldn't be powerful enough to cast some of the spells, but I could at least try.

Humming a quiet tune, I walked into the direction of the exit when someone grabbed me. The person pulled me roughly behind another shelf and pressed their hand on my mouth. Surprised I squeaked, my heart hammering against my rips.

The realisation that it was Barty as Moody, didn't calm me down a bit.

Was he here to finish the job? Had he regretted letting me go?

Wide eyed I stared up at him.

His face was serious, maybe a tad haunted, his voice icy when he finally talked.

"I have found a job for you. You will collect everything you can find about dragons. Especially the ones from Hungary. If you fail..." His words tailed to a threatening ending.

Impatient he starred at me, probably waiting for an answer. However, he didn't remove his hand, which was still pressed over my mouth and the force of which pinned me so hard against the shelf that I couldn't move my head an inch. When I didn't react, he growled: "Answer me! Did you understand your task!"

Annoyed I rolled my eyes and pursed my lips so that they touched his palm to draw his attention there.

It worked and he pulled his hand back as if I had burned him. Rolling my eyes again I finally answered. "Understood and as good as done. You don't have to threaten me for doing such homework-esque stuff like this."

Nodding stiff he turned on the spot and disappeared again between the bookshelves.

Once again I slumped against the shelves. My heart was still beating rapidly, this time for another reason. Burying my face in my hands I suppressed a scream. What was I thinking, getting his attention by nearly KISSING his palm! God! That was so... so... so embarrassing! AND WEIRD! He was in the form of Moody and considering that I was in the past, I was only 17 to outsiders! AND he was my professor! That gesture had been sooo wrong! Urgh...

I should have just kicked him or literally everything else!

Trying to ward of a mental breakdown from embarrassment I collected myself as far that I could hurry out of the library and into my room. Luckily no one was there, so I could put an noise cancelling charm up in the room an scream out my frustration.
