Ink
He didn't know when it started.
...Or maybe he just didn't remember when it did.
He knew he heard them near the beginning of the multiverse.
No matter the case, he... He heard a voice. Or- more like a couple voices. They spoke randomly. Well, at least somewhat. Not many talking directly to him at first, until...
One time while he was painting, he heard a question
"What does paint taste like? Ever tried paint thinner?"
The artist looked around, trying to locate where the unfamiliar voice had come from. He couldn't find anything though. Sure he had heard a couple voices before, but this one was new. And it was directly addressing him.
Ah. One of the creators?
He guessed that made sense. Then he remembered that he still hadn't answered the question.
... Ink was urged to answer
"Oh! I've never had paint thinner before, but I have had paint!"
Ink went back to his painting.
Ink would later on think back on this question and try paint thinner...
...Ink didn't think it went too badly... But that's a story for another time.
. . .
Another time Ink was relaxing in an AU with wide open fields filled with wildflowers, which he was giggly running through either not paying attention or caring that he was crushing the flowers beneath his feet. When he paused for a breath, despite most likely not needing to breath being a magical, and SOULless, skeleton he heard
"I made up a quote Ink; Unlike people, plants don't walk away when you pee on them. It's so deep." *wheezes*
Ink pauses. He then processes. And finally, he decides that he wouldn't question it. He didn't want to know. He was heading back to the doodlesphere now.
. . .
Ink was staring at Horror... Eating dog food... Again.
Horror noticed Ink staring and pulled the dog food closer to himself.
What could be so good about eating dog food? Ink wondered.
"Ink, child, no matter how badly you mess up, don't ever let the thought of eating dog food occur to you. One out of five stars, does not taste good."
...But Horror liked-
...
Ink grumbled a bit but left.
. . .
When Ink was writing something onto his scarf he heard
"Ink! I like your scarf! Where did you get it?"
"I made it of course!" Ink answered.
. . .
"I wonder, if the balance between negativity and positivity exists, does it also apply to creation and destruction? Eh."
Ink paused in the middle of what he was doing. What he was doing being eating popcorn while watching the former guardians of the tree of feelings argue about positivity and negativity.
Ink tilted his head in thought. He supposed it did make sense. And who was he to argue with a creator.
. . .
"I prefer oranges than apples."
After seeing how Nightmare turned out... Ink would have to agree.
Also because of how uncomfortable Dream looked around apples.
Ink nodded in response.
. . .
Ink had met someone named Error. Error destroyed AUs. This of course meant that Ink had to stop him.
...But Error was surprisingly strong. It was actually pretty cool! At least Ink thought so. Ink failed to stop Error, but it was... Interesting.
Ink wanted to learn more about Error. But Error left as soon as the AU was destroyed...
Ink wrote something onto his scarf and left.
. . .
A couple of AUs had been introduced to the multiverse... On accident. Or, at least, the Sanses or Papyruses of the AUs.
Geno was pretty cool. Some of the creators compared him to a zombie. Geno didn't seem like a zombie to Ink though. Geno didn't seem the type to eat brains. Then again, did skeletons even have brains?
Blue, the Sans from Underswap, was introduced to the multiverse by being kidnapped by Error. By then Ink had learned more about Error, yet still yearned to learn more. Blue was eventually returned to Underswap. Ink still didn't know why the Sanses thought he was the one to return Blue. Then again Ink's memory wasn't always the best.
Ink thought that since Underswap Papyrus took the role of 'Sans' in his universe, he deserved to know about the multiverse. And it seemed that Blue wanted him to know about it as well. Well... Blue was oddly hesitant on asking Ink to introduce Stretch to the multiverse, but Ink assumed it was probably fine.
Classic only knew about the AUs because of Geno. ...And then Geno's Christmas party came and more Sanses and some Papyruses were introduced to the multiverse.
...Ink had been invited but wasn't there for long. He was hoping by some chance Error would be there but... He wasn't. So he left. He felt bad for abandoning Blue but- he guessed it didn't matter.
. . .
"Error would make a nice friend, don't you think so?"
Ink was wondering, how exactly did one make friends?
Like- Dream said they were friends. And so was Blue- but he wasn't sure. Not that he disliked them.
Dream also suggested that they make a group called, "The Star Sanses", to fight off Nightmare and his new group, "The Bad Sanses", as well as Error. Ink agreed shrugging.
Now how to make friends...
"Just simultaneously whip and nae nae, works every time."
...And Ink did just that. It made Dream look at him weirdly, while Blue looked like he was holding back tears. Ink worried for a moment that it didn't work, until suddenly Blue burst out laughing. Once Blue laughed, Dream started laughing as well. Ink smiled.
Maybe it did work... At least he thought so until Error told him that just because he laughed at something Ink did, it did not make them friends. Ink wasn't one to give up so easily though.
. . .
Ink only saw Error when they fought while Error tried to destroy an AU... So he had the wonderful idea of luring Error by making a bunch of copies of AUs.
...Let's just say that Error wasn't too happy.
Ink found it kind of funny and cute, in a weird way. Error was like a grumpy cat.
"Has it ever occured to you that you and Error might end up together? Such thought intrigues me."
Ink paused mid battle.
Why though? he wondered. Did the creator mean as friends?
He stopped thinking about it and dodged the magic strings Error sent at him.
"Do Error's strings come from his eyes? Ink, ask him-"
"Do your strings come from your eyes?" Ink asked.
"..." Error was silent for a moment, making Ink question if he was even going to answer until he did respond
"Y3s..."
Error's voice was glitchy. It was... Unique. It was cool. Error then proceeded to knock Ink back with a bone attack and finished deleting the last copy. Error left.
Ink went back to his doodlesphere.
. . .
Ink was making even more copies than last time.
"Balance go brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-"
Ink stopped. Maybe he would just leave Error be. He did give him a lot of copies to destroy. He could bother Error when he was destroying the last copy.
"I often lose my balance, do you?"
Ink had to wonder if that was a pun or the creator was asking if he was clumsy. Or both. He answered anyway
"Sometimes."
. . .
"The possibilities in the multiverse are endless. All have each unique or alternate worlds which are boundless to explore in. ...Which I believe that at some point, an Ink wanted to be a bee rather than a guardian of aus. Are you that Ink?"
Ink thought about it. Sometimes the council made him feel that way. It was Stretch's, Underswap Papyrus', idea to make a council to prevent Blue or any others being kidnapped by Error or anyone else again. Stretch was really protective of Blue. Blue was rarely let out of Stretch's sight. Blue said he didn't mind but... Ink and Dream weren't so sure.
A lot of the council was against the destroyer.
...Ink wasn't so sure how he felt about that.
. . .
Ink was in a field relaxing with Dream. The council had been more overbearing than normal lately and they wanted to relax somewhere. They wanted to bring Blue along but Stretch told them Blue wanted to relax with him in their AU and wasn't feeling up to it.
So it was just him and Dream. If only Ink could be so free as to fly like the birds in the sky, or buzz around carefree like a-
"The possibilities in the multiverse are endless. All have each unique or alternate worlds which are boundless to explore in. ...Which I believe that at some point, an Ink wanted to be a bee rather than a guardian of aus. Are you that Ink?"
"...Maybe..." Ink said softly.
"Hmm?" Dream questioned.
"Nothing Dream. Just..." Ink trailed off.
"Have you ever wondered what your life would be like if you could be something, or someone, else? Like if... You never had to be the guardian of positivity?" Ink asked Dream.
"...I don't know... Maybe I would still be with Nighty... Or maybe I wouldn't exist at all." Dream responded.
"...I don't think I would like it if you didn't exist..." Ink told Dream.
"..." Dream was silent.
"It's nice here." Dream changed the subject.
"Yeah... It is pretty nice." Ink agreed.
They sat and enjoyed the chirping of birds and buzzing of bees. They both pointed out shapes they found in clouds and talked about random things. Sometimes the creators would give him things to talk about when he ran out of ideas, or they would just sit and enjoy each other's company. ...Ink really wished it could stay like this forever.
"If the world is round, does it mean that there is a chance that the multiverse is also round?"
Ink sputtered and put a hand to his face at the creator's question.
"Are- Did you just call the multiverse fat?" Ink questioned.
"What did you say Ink?" Dream was confused.
