Part 33
Part 33
I banged my fist on Gemma's door, desperate for her to open it. She was my only option at stopping Dash from ruining my relationship with Damien. I regretted kissing Dash. No, that was a lie. I had missed being in his arms and his kiss told me what I wanted to know: Dash still missed me, just like how I missed him. However, I was with Damien now; I couldn't betray him by kissing my ex.
"Gemma! Open the door!" I knocked harder, willing her to wake up. If the dorm matron found me I would be in serious trouble. But I couldn't go back to my dorm as yet, I needed to talk to Gemma first. I had to tell her what her boyfriend did.
The door opened after a few minutes with a groggy Gemma standing and rubbing her eyes. "Who is it? Can't you see I'm sleeping?!" She whined.
"Gemma, it' me, Bri," I said, willing her to look at me.
"Who's Bri? I don't know a Bri," she mumbled, yawning.
I rolled my eyes. "Gemma, it's Bri. Remember, I'm friends with Tracey was Dash's girlfriend."
"Yeah yeah, I know who you are. I thought if I failed to recognize you then you will go and let me sleep," she muttered.
"No. I need to talk to you about something." I told her.
"Can't it wait until morning? I need to go back to my handsome prince who was just about to propose," she said.
"You were dreaming?" I enquired.
Gemma rolled her eyes. "Obviously. And what a nice dream it was."
"Gemma, please. I really need to talk to you. It's about Dash," I pleaded. Why couldn't people take me seriously?
Gemma sighed. "Alright, alright. Come on in."
"Thank you." I didn't waste a second in stepping inside her dorm and sitting down on the chair.
"Now tell me what is so important that you couldn't wait until morning," she demanded, closing the door.
"I'll tell you, but you have to promise not to freak out about it. I wanted to be the first to tell you so that you don't have to hear it from a third person," I replied.
"Oh, just get on with it, Bri. I'm really tired," Gemma groaned, flopping down on her bed.
"Okay. I'm just going to say it. Please don't hate me; I didn't mean for any of this to happen," I responded.
"If you don't tell me what happened then I'm throwing you out right now," she threatened.
"Okay, okay! Jeez, you don't have to be so extreme," I muttered. My heart shrieked in fear when Gemma glared at me. "Alright fine. Dash kissed me."
I waited with bated breath for the accusations to start pouring from her lips, but she remained silent. Did she not hear me properly? Or was she processing what I just told her? Would she hate me now? Of course she was going to hate me, I kissed her boyfriend. I was a terrible person.
"Why did he kiss you?" She asked, drowsiness clearing from her eyes.
"Uh, I don't know. He is a player and enjoys doing bad things," I said by way of explanation.
"I see. And what did you do? Did you kiss him back?" A strange gleam entered her eyes and I wondered if she was planning to kill me.
"Uh, why are you asking?" I looked away, suddenly embarrassed.
"Because I want to know. So tell me, did you?" She replied.
My cheeks burned and I was sure Gemma knew my answer before I told her. "I might've."
"So that's a yes then?" Her questions made me feel uneasy, but they were valid, I couldn't deny that.
I nodded, meekly. "Yes. But I swear I stopped once I realized what I was doing was wrong."
"Wrong? How could it be wrong when it feels so right?" Her question confused me.
"What? What do you mean?" Was she angry with me or not? Why was I so bad at guessing people's internal state of mind?
Gemma shrugged. "Nothing. So what did you do after you kissed him?"
"Are you going to label me as the academy's slut? I didn't mean to kiss him; it just happened," I defended.
"No Bri, I am not going to gossip and call you a slut. I don't do stuff like that," she replied, as if the very idea of her spreading rumors about me was preposterous.
"Then who does?" If the most popular girl at Burswick didn't spread rumors, then who did?
Gemma shrugged again. "I don't know. But I do know that I don't. So answer my question."
"Nothing. I pushed him away and told him that it was a mistake, which by the way it was, and then he said he'll tell Damien about the kiss. I don't want him to tell Damien, or you for that matter; because it's Dash and he lies a lot," I answered.
"Dash, doesn't lie," she stated.
I rolled my eyes. "You have no idea how evil he can be. You do know he made me suffer through ten semesters."
"What do the ten semesters have to do with lying?" She asked.
"I'm just saying that he is evil and very good at lying. He knows people will believe anything he says, so he lies as much as he can. It's the reason why I broke up with him." I told her.
"I think Dash is a pretty great guy. He is caring and possessive...in a cute way," Gemma said.
Why did she have to praise him? I knew how sexy and adorable he was; I didn't need a constant reminder, as it made it difficult for me to move on. But did I really want to move on? I didn't think so, especially not after the kiss we shared, which was a mistake. Yes, it was nothing but a nice, delicious mistake.
Would you please talk sense for just one minute?
"Not the point, Gemma. I just want you to know that he kissed me first and it was a mistake. I'm sorry for kissing your boyfriend. It won't happen again, I promise," I stated, standing up, getting ready to leave.
"Okay, I understand. We are all humans after all; we all make mistakes. I forgive you, don't worry," she replied with a nod.
Her kindness took me by surprise? Was she this nice to everyone or just me because I was Dash's ex-girlfriend? No, it had to be her personality. There was a reason why everybody liked her, and this must be it.
"Thank you so much, Gemma for understanding. If it were someone else in your place, I'm sure she would've eaten me dead by now," I stated, truly grateful to have a friend like Gemma.
Gemma chuckled. "Don't worry about it. I know it was unintentional."
"it was. And before I go, can you please talk to Dash and tell him not to tell Damien anything. Please?" I requested, even though I had no right to do so considering I kissed her boyfriend. But I had no choice, I was desperate.
"I'll talk to Dash, don't worry, Bri. There are a lot of things we do have to talk about anyways." Her easy going nature put me at ease. I was an idiot to think she would be a snob just like all the other popular girls in school, but Gemma was different.
"Thank you so much, Gemma; you have no idea how much it means to me. I'll go now, and I'm sorry for disturbing you." With a quick wave and a smile of gratitude, I strode out of Gemma's room, only to come face to face with the guy who had been driving me crazy.
"What were you doing in Gemma's room?" Dash asked.
"What are you doing in the girls' dormitories? And where is the matron? She will kill you if she sees you here," I shot back.
"The matron can't do anything; she is powerless in front of me," he replied.
His confidence irked me; simply because I had none of my own. "You are not that powerful, Dash. Get over yourself."
Dash scoffed. "You shouldn't make false claims like this when you don't know anything. You'll be surprised to know how much power I do have."
"I honestly don't care about your power. I'm tired and I'm going to sleep." I tried to sidestep him, but he only blocked my path.
"You are not going anywhere until you tell me what I want to know," he stated.
I tried my best to suppress a groan of frustration. Why couldn't he leave me alone? "What do you want to know? You know, I really hate you."
"Tell me what were you doing in Gemma's room," he commanded.
"I told her about the kiss. It was better to come clean rather than to live in a lie," I answered, proud of myself for not cowering before him.
Dash threw me an evil grin which set me on edge. "That is wonderful. I'm glad you told her, because secrets and lies only ruin relationships, right?"
"What are you talking about?" His words didn't make any sense. Shouldn't he be angry with me for telling his girlfriend?
"I'm saying that you did the right thing by telling Gemma that we love each other and want to be with each other forever," he answered, taking a step towards me.
"That's not what I told her. We are not in love, Dash. You love Gemma, and she has the right to know about your actions," I responded, taking a step back.
"You love me, don't deny that, shortcake. I could feel it in the kiss," he stated, taking another step forward.
I shook my head. "I told you before that was a mistake. You shouldn't have kissed me in the first place."
"Your natural response is never a lie, chocolate chip, you know that," he said, while continuing to move towards me.
"Well it's possible. Nothing is set in stone, especially not human behavior." I cursed my bad luck when my back met solid wall. Great! I was trapped.
"So, if I were to kiss you right now, you wouldn't kiss me back? Since you claim not to feel anything for me, right?" He enquired.
"Y—Yes, that's right." I swallowed hard through the sudden lump in throat. What was wrong with me? Why did Dash still affected me so?
"Would you like to put that to the test?" He grinned, that sexy bad boy grin which had my stupid heart soaring with bliss. I hated my heart so much; it always betrayed me. I needed to get a new heart.
"No. I won't kiss you again. You should kiss Gemma; she is your girlfriend now. Stop cheating on her." I told her, wanting to push him away but was unable to do so.
"It's not me who's cheating, but you, shortcake. You kissed me back when Damien is your so-called boyfriend," he stated.
"You kissed me and Damien is my boyfriend," I shouted.
Dash chuckled. "No, he is not, shortcake." Before I could protest, Dash claimed my lips with his own in yet another intense kiss. He held me tightly to him as his lips glided over mine. Even though I didn't want to kiss him, my body had a mind of its own as my lips moved along with his in perfect sync. I hated myself for feeling this way. I hated my body for giving in to him. And I wanted to kill myself for betraying my friend and boyfriend for the second time and loving Dash.
He broke the kiss after a long time. I was panting and my lips felt bruised with a delicious tingle. No matter how wrong this kiss felt in front of my morals, it felt right to my heart and mind.
"This proves Damien is not your boyfriend. You are mine only," Dash stated.
"No! Damien is my boyfriend!" I cried.
"No, Bri, I am not. Not anymore." My jaw dropped in shock and fear when I heard Damien's voice. I turned to see him standing a few feet away from us, a defeated look on his handsome features.
"Damien..." His name left my lips in a whisper.
He smiled sadly. "I never stood a chance, did I?"
"No, Damien, that's not true. I don't like Dash. H—He kissed me, I swear." I tried to explain, but one look in his eyes told me that no matter what I said he wouldn't believe me.
"I saw you kissing him back, Bri." Damien looked at Dash. "I guess you were right all along. She really does love you, and kissed you."
I glanced between Damien and Dash, horror slowly dawning on me. "Y—You told him?"
"Of course I did. I told you I won't let you treat me as your dirty little secret," Dash replied.
I turned to Damien. "Damien, don't believe him. He kissed me first. And I told him it was a mistake."
"Really? Because it doesn't look like you think it's a mistake. The way you kissed him..." he trailed off.
Tears blurred my vision. "Damien, please. Believe me. Dash and I are over. I did not cheat on you."
Damien shook his head. "It doesn't matter, Bri. You should've just said no to me when I asked you out. It's obvious that you still have feelings for him."
"No, it's not like that, I swear. I didn't lead you on." I tried to go to him, but Dash put a hand on my shoulder, stopping me.
"You are not going to go to him. You belong to me," Dash stated.
"Stop it! I am not yours!" I yelled, not caring if the stupid matron showed up.
"Yes, Bri, you are. I was just an idiot to think you could ever be mine," Damien said.
"Damien, don't say that! Why can't you just listen to me?! It's not what he's told you. Dash is a liar, you know that," I exclaimed, ignoring Dash's growl behind me.
"He might be a liar, but in this case he speaks the truth." Damien paused. "I've seen all I needed to see. Thank you, Dash, for showing me the truth. I'm sorry I tried to come in between you and Bri."
"No, Damien, please wait," I begged.
"There is no reason for me to stay anymore. Good bye, Bri. I won't bother you ever again." Damien and walked away, leaving me crying with no one but Dash. Once he was gone, I turned and glared at Dash.
"I hate you! How could you do this?!" I shrieked.
"I did what I had to. And now we can be together, just like how we are meant to be," Dash stated.
"You think I will come back to you?! You couldn't be more wrong. I hate you! I hate you, Dash Melwin!" I shouted.
Dash shook his head. "You don't hate me, chocolate chip...
"You never did."
