11: Meeting an Old Friend
As Foxclaw padded through the mouse-length grass by the StreamClan border, her ears and nose were alert for the approaching of any rival patrols. BoulderClan had been on neutral terms with StreamClan, but if they had been notified of Lilyfur's death, they may not be so nice.
"Sunscar, am I really gonna do my warriors assessment soon?" Soaringpaw asked excitedly, his golden eyes wide with excitement.
Sunscar nodded, "Of course. You're ready for it, I can tell."
"Yes!" Soaringpaw exclaimed, now walking with a slight bounce in his step.
Foxclaw felt a purr rising in her throat, remembering when she had been told she was ready for her warrior assessment. It was like a dream come true.
"Bring back any memories?" Berrytail asked from beside her.
Foxclaw nodded to her old mentor. "Yeah, I was just as excited when you said I was ready to be a warrior."
"I'd say you were more excited, it's all you'd talk about!" Berrytail purred. The grey she-cat then stopped, looking past Foxclaw. "Looks like we've got company."
On the other side of the border, a StreamClan patrol stood. Foxclaw had been too distracted to notice them approaching. She silently cursed to herself, this is exactly what she had wanted to avoid.
On the opposite side of the small river between the clans three cats stood. One was the StreamClan deputy, Craneclaw, one was Tinystripe, and the other a golden she-cat Foxclaw couldn't put a name to.
"Hello, Sunscar." Craneclaw greeted the patrol's leader. "I'm assuming BoulderClan's doing well."
Sunscar nodded respectively, "Yes, we're fine as usual."
As the two toms made polite small talk, Foxclaw silently greeted her StreamClan friend with a wave of her tail, which Tinystripe readily returned. The reddish she-cat had a slight mischievous look on her face, which Foxclaw returned by tilting her head questioningly. Tinystripe flicked her ear dismissively, and Foxclaw took that as you'll find out later. The tortoiseshell was definitely curious as to what her friend was up to, but didn't bother to ask. There were too many other cats around to have a private conversation anyways.
Apparently StreamClan hadn't received news from HeatherClan, as the cats were friendly as usual. That was a relief to Foxclaw- she'd hate to be put on the spot.
Soon the patrols went their separate ways, leaving Foxclaw to ponder what Tinystripe was up to. That look she had couldn't mean anything innocent.

Foxclaw couldn't help but purr as she pinned Spiderpaw to the ground. The golden she-cat gave a look of satisfaction before kicking the warrior off of her and sitting up.
"Good job, you're definitely getting better!" Spiderpaw praised, which was rare for her.
"Thanks!" Foxclaw purred, her amber eyes shining with pride. This was the first time she had successfully pinned down the apprentice, which felt like an embarrassment to think of. However, Spiderpaw was not your average apprentice, her skill level surpassed that drastically. She never could stop wondering what the golden she-cat did to end up here.
"Oh Foxclaw, we'd like you to meet one of the other apprentices here tonight." Blizzardpelt stated.
Foxclaw nodded. "Alright, where are they?"
"They should be coming here." Blizzardpelt answered, and almost as soon as he finished speaking two cats emerged from the shadows and padded into the small clearing.
One was Sandyfang, a dark forest warrior. He seemed completely calm as usual, his light tan pelt washed out in the dim lighting. Beside him stood who Foxclaw could only assume was his apprentice- and that's what caused a gasp to escape her mouth.
In front of her stood a short reddish brown tabby she-cat. Tinystripe.
"Hey Foxclaw!"
Foxclaw had to force her mouth shut as she looked at her friend in shock. So this is what that look was about... Tinystripe's training in the Place of No Stars!
