Darkness. Black surrounding my mind. Nothingness dancing along to the dark. Consciousness trapped in a prison of my own mind. I begin to wonder if it will ever escape? Wait, am I moving?

My eyes shoot open as I am greeted by a fresh set of darkness. I groan as I sit up. I hear metal against metal and notice that I am in what seems to be a... box..? The 'box' was moving upwards. Very fast, I might add. Then, the box came to a screeching halt and made me bang my head against the side of the box. I groan as I hear more machinery, this time something opening. Light flooding inside of, you guessed it, a metal box full of more boxes. I am against the side of the wall. I hear people talking.

"Where are they?"

"Go look!"

I don't recognize the voices. Wait, what is my name? Then, I remember one thing. Newt. It just pops into my head. It could be my name, I guess. I know some names work as boy and girl names so I am guessing it could possibly be my name. I hear someone jump into the box. The noise was followed by the exact same sound. I tried to hide behind some boxes. I don't think I was fast enough...

"Hey!" I hear one person call. Sounds like it is one of the people who jumped into the box.

"Did you find anything?" I hear someone else say. Must be the other one.

"Hey come outta there, shank!" says the first person. I sneak a quick look and see an Asian boy slowly walking towards me. I feel the urge to run. To fight. I stand up incredibly fast.

"It's a.... girl?" says the second boy. I look over to see a tall boy with dirty-blond hair and deep, brown eyes. I stare at him. Only for a second. Is it me or is he cute? I turn back to the Asian.

"What's your name?" asked the Asian. (I AM NOT BEING RACIST!)

All I do is stare at him. I don't say anything. I turn to the other boy. The cuter one. (WELL DUH!)

"I asked you a question!" he states. I hear people saying stuff like 'A girl?!' 'I call dibs!' 'Is she cute?' and 'She must be a spy!' Like, how on Earth could I be a spy?

"It's okay. We won't hurt you," the boy I was staring at says.

"Speak up, slinthead!" I hear. It is coming from one of the boys staring at me from outside the box.

"Slim it! Maybe she doesn't talk," says the boy. "Wait, can you talk?" he asks as he looks at me. I shrug and shake my head. Then, I walk over to some boxes and start stacking them. The boys look at me like I am crazy. After I stack some boxes, I step onto one and then the next. I keep doing that until I can pull myself out of the box.

"You're bloody smart," says the boy as a smirk appears on his face. I smile and turn around to see a wall of boys. I push two out of the way and walk forwards. They give me that look again. I pick up a stick and walk back over to the boys. Both boys had gotten out of the box by then. They stare at me as I bend down. I use the stick to write something in the dirt.

I write 'Newt'.

Everybody looks at the boy that I was staring at. He stares at me with a confused look.

"How do you know my bloody name?" says the boy, he must be Newt.

I write 'all I know'. Everyone stops staring at Newt and starts staring at me. I stand up. Wow... I just realized where I am... There are four towering walls covered in ivy surrounding a huge field. The field has trees and some small makeshift buildings. I only see boys, no girls.

"We should put her in the pit!" I hear a boy say. I turn to where the voice came from to see a boy with eyebrows that are on fleek. (had to 😂)

"Well, welcome to the Glade, greenie," says the other boy. Greenie? What is a greenie?

"Newt, give her the tour," I hear somebody say. I turn again to see a boy with dark skin. "I'm Alby." I give him a small wave. Then, a wave of bravery floods into me. I kick the boy who suggested I go in the 'pit' and run past him. I see an opening in one of the walls. I start running there.

"Looks like we got a runner!" I hear someone say as others start laughing.

"She is going to the Maze!" I hear someone else shout. I hear them start running after me. I turn my head to see Newt right behind me with the other boy right behind him. I turn back around and keep running to the opening. Looks like I am fast because most of the boys can't keep up with me. Most of them. I am so close to the opening but then I get tackled. I look to see Newt. He was the one who tackled me. I push him off of me and get up. For some reason I don't start running again.

"Come on, greenie. Before you start running to places, try learning about it first," says the other boy. "I'm Minho." Minho? Ok then... (my reaction to everything 😂)

"Newt, can you take over before she starts running again?" asks Minho. Newt nods and says, "Come on, greenie." He starts walking away. I start to follow him.

*skip to after because I'm too lazy 😂*

"Come on, greenie. Let's go get some food," says Newt. I start to follow him. "Later, we have a surprise for you." I give him a look that tells him I am intrigued.

"Greenie, this is Frypan. He is the keeper of the cooks," says Newt as he points to a dark skinned boy. "Hey, Fry! This is the new Greenie."

"Well hey there, greenie," says Frypan. I give him a small wave.

"Does she talk?" asks Frypan as he looks to Newt.

"Not a word since she got here," responds Newt. "Give her some food, Fry."

Frypan gave me a plate of food and I nod as a thank you. He smiles at me and gives Newt a plate too.

"Come on, greenie. Let me introduce you to Thomas and Chuck," says Newt. He walks over to a table with two boys sitting there already. One boy has black hair and a blue shirt. The other looks about 13 with curly hair. He is a little chubby, not trying to be rude. I walk over to the table and sit there with Newt.

"You must be the new Greenie," says the chubby, little boy. I nod in response. "I'm Chuck," says the boy.

"I'm Thomas. Nice to meet you," says the other boy. I wave at both of them. Then, Minho comes over to the table and sits down.

"Hey, you ugly shank," Minho says to Thomas. Thomas chuckles and says, "Hey Minho."

"Come on, you buggin' shanks. Let's eat so we can show Greenie the surprise," says Newt. After that, we all eat fast and start walking outside. It is dark now. The stars are clearly visible. Wow...
