Chapter Twenty Three
"Okay, so you know those bandages Alphys wrapped around me yesterday?"
"Yeah..." You were curious to where Sans was going with all this.
"They're starting to fall off and..." His face began to tint a light blue again. "It kinda hurts when I try to take them off so, heh, can you, like, help switch 'em out?"
He smiled nervously as his cheekbones became flushed in blue. You giggled at his reaction and behavior. He's really cute like this...
"Sure. Where are the bandages?" You asked, looking around his room for anything that looked like a bandage. After some searching, your eyes caught sight of a thick roll of gauze.
"Well, looks like you found 'em already." He chuckled and leaned his back against the neighboring wall to his bed with a sigh. You just smiled as you started your way around the random junk in his room. Scattered books and balls of paper were randomly placed throughout the carpet floor. You didn't really notice it until now, but there was a miniature spinning tornado of trash in the corner of the room. Geez, is he really this messy?
After some waddling around, you finally reached the roll which was settled on a lone chair in the corner of the room. Other than the roll, you noticed a tattered blue sweater, now unwearable, and a white t-shirt of same condition.
"This your sweater?" You asked as you gently lifted up a sleeve. He nodded.
"What's left of it, anyways." He then chuckled. "I don't know how I'm gonna survive though. I feel so naked without it."
This remark caused a giggle to slip out of your lips, but there was still that clingy guilt feeling at your heart. You couldn't help but remember that you made his jacket like that. With a couple of quick skips, you found your way back to the bed and glanced up at him expectantly. It took a couple of seconds for him to catch on before he realized what you were waiting for.
"Oh. Hah. Sorry, kid." He winked and started to strip his shirt off. Anyone could have swooned over his ribs, but honestly guys...it's just skeleton ribs....calm down. You blinked in shock at his injuries. There were about six main areas where the projectiles had hit him; they were the most heavily bandaged. But you could still make out the small indentations of tiny fracturing, making his chest appear extremely fragile.
"Oh my gosh..." You felt those words fall out of your mouth as you lifted a finger to trace the cracks. You felt your eyes glued to the injuries as you felt the indents through your gentle finger. Time seemed to have slowed as you felt your mind take in the concerning sight in front of you. At some point, you felt his body shiver a bit as your finger glided over the fourth fracture, causing you to break out of your trance.
"Ngh~" He let out, startling you a bit. You jerked your hand away from the injury, afraid that you hurt him.
"I'm sor-" You glanced up at him, to find his stare already glued upon. His eyes, you've never seen them like this before. You had expected his normal carefree attitude, instead his eyes weren't full of amusement, but... is that lust?
Now taking in second thoughts from what had just happened, you realized he didn't exactly groan in pain. In fact, it was more of a moan...in pleasure. Eventually you're mind put one-and-one together, now realizing what you had done. He must have noticed that you were consciously thinking and started to cower away in embarrassment, deeply blushing. His eyes were adverted from you entirely as sweat droplets slipped down his face.
"Y-you...you like it when I do that to you...huh?" You asked him, now immensely increasing the awkwardness. His blush intensified; his teeth quivering in panic.
"W-well, in a very satisfying and pleasurable way, if you want me to be completely honest." He mumbled through a nervous smile, but clearly was losing it. You blinked a couple of times and felt a smile creep upon your lips.
"Sensitive ribs." You laughed a bit in amusement, breaking the awkward atmosphere. Your hands reached over to the roll of gauze and started to unroll the bundle at a dreadful and painfully slow pace. Might as well make the best of this while I still can.
He didn't respond. Instead, he stared down at the roll, obviously unsure of what you were going to do to him. With a cheeky smile, you jerked at the bundle, successfully straining a long strip of the gauze. Sans jumped at this gesture, now sweating heavy beads of sweat.
"Don't worry." You teased and dropped the roll. "I won't be using that...yet."
Sans broke into a weak smile and cowered away as you reached towards him. With careful hands, you started to carefully pick at his worn bandages. They were tightly intertwined with his ribs, but that didn't break your patience. You were careful to not graze against his chest as you proceeded to take off the tight gauze. After some persistence, you managed to get all of his injuries wrapped up tightly to the best of your ability. It wasn't bad; you assumed that it'll stay just fine for the time being.
"Okay... Looks alright." You said as you took a last glance at the work you've done.
"It looks great. Thanks, kid." Sans said with a smile and slipped on his shirt. You nodded and looked up at him with a questioning look.
"So, um..." You started and bit your lip.
"Yeah?"
"You said that there were two things bothering you. What's the other thing?" You asked him. He just smiled and shrugged.
"Nothing important anymore. I'll be fine."
"Will you?"
"Yep." Sans reassured as you felt your phone buzz in your pocket. You brought the phone out to see that Mettaton had texted you about Friday's performance. "Who's that?"
"Just Mettaton." You smiled and quickly turned to respond.
~~Text Messages~~

You frowned and tossed your phone onto the floor next to the bed. Regret immediately started to nip at your stomach.
"Why do you look like you just made a poor life decision?" Sans asked, carefully adjusting himself so he could lay back down against the bed.
"Mettaton wants me to do something next Friday. I feel like I'm gonna get myself into something I'm gonna regret." You laughed and glanced at him, catching a glimmer of hurt in his eyes but he masked up with a carefree smile.
"Eh. Who knows?" Sans shrugged and yawned a bit, causing you to yawn yourself. Drowsiness immediately slapped your brain and began to numb your body. Am I really this tired?
"What's the time?" You mumbled and felt yourself sink into the bed.
"10 somethin'. You should probably go to sleep." Sans chuckled as you nodded. At this point, you couldn't even keep your eyes open. Instead, you allowed yourself to surrender to the darkness of sleep.

"(Y/n)." Flowey was in your face with a serious stare. "Earth to (y/n)."
He started to bounce around a bit in front of your eyes to catch your attention, causing you to blink. You noticed that his petals weren't the bright golden yellow that they normally were; instead, they were dusty and worn, almost as if he was running from something constantly.
"Huh?" You shook your head and looked past Flowey to see Gaster moving some tables around with his magic.
"She's here, Gaster." Flowey muttered and turned to the skeleton. He nodded and looked down at you.
"We have some bad news, (y/n)."
"Bad news?" Flowey spat in disbelief. "If anything, this is horrible, terrible! Monsters and humanity is going to go instinct!"
"Wait, wait. Slow down. What is happening?" You asked, trying to process what you just heard. Gaster was about to speak, when Flowey butted in and spilled the entire situation.
"Okay, so some stupid human fell into the Underground and Chara killed him!" Flowey screeched and started to flail around in panic. "She took his soul and she left the Underground while you were flirting with the fricken SMILEY TRASHBAG!"
You drew back in surprise at his sharp tone. "Why didn't you keep her down here?!"
"I don't have enough power to contain her!"
"What'd you expect me to do then?!" You yelled at the flower, trying to defend yourself. "I can't just control souls under my own will!"
"But you know someone who does!"
"Who?" You challenged and threw your hands up into the air. "Who, Flowey?!"
"You really don't know?" The flower looked up at you expectantly and turned away from you to take in a deep breath. Turning back around, he let out a laugh. "You really are an idiot."
He paused, waiting for a response. You didn't know what to say as he ruffled up his petals in victory.
"Sans, (y/n). Sans can kill Chara if he wanted to." Flowey growled as you silently took in the new information. You found yourself not that surprised, due to how strong he was when he defended you from the humans that had attacked you the week before.
"He wouldn't though. He's too nice-"
"And lazy." Flowey spat and looked back at Gaster, who had been listening to the situation. You frowned and made your way over to a nearby table to sit on, thinking about how to cope with incoming danger. You knew Chara was a monster; she'd kill anyone mainly because, she hated humanity...at least that's what you've been told. You continued your thoughts when a sudden realization rolled into your brain.
"Wait..." You looked up Gaster, meeting eye contact with him. "If you're Sans' father, then wouldn't you have similar magic abilities to Sans, therefore you could control souls too?"
"She has a point." Flowey muttered and glanced up at Gaster too, waiting for a response. Gaster froze for a second and sighed. He shook his head and snapped his fingers, allowing for him to summon a purplish aura hand, similar to his own. That hand floated to the other side of the room, picked up an object, and returned to Gaster.
"Sans, Papyrus, and I all have the similar abilities up to creating, controlling, and manipulating bones." Gaster started and used his purple hand to reveal the object to you and Flowey, which was a small remote. He then turned on the screen and searched through the files for an odd looking diagram of the two skeletons.
"As you can see," Gaster started to point out some wording in his diagram and turned to you, "Papyrus and Sans have the ability to turn a human soul into a blue color, allowing them to control where the soul and the host can go. The difference between the two is that, Sans can control which direction the soul or the host can go, which can be up, down, left, right, etc. Whereas Papyrus can only hold the soul down, but for a longer period of time." Gaster paused to check for understanding, which you nodded to allow him to keep going. "They both also have the ability to control 'blue attacks' which can only deal damage when the soul/host is moving, which I do not have."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. What's the purpose for this entire explanation?" Flowey asked, obviously getting annoyed with all the details. You found them quite interesting but under the current circumstances, you can understand where he's coming from. "We're not here for a compare and contrast, buddy. We need to somehow stop Chara from wiping out the entire monster and human race."
"(Y/n) seemed interested." Gaster murmured and turned off the slide, and glanced at the two glass cylinders in the middle of the room sadly. "But, I guess that's a story that can wait."
"A story? Sounded like a documentary." Flowey grumbled and shook his head. "Whatever. (Y/n). Please find a way to stop Chara."
"Please?"
"Yeah, idiot."
