Chapter Twenty Five

The morning came and the day went by pleasantly. Too pleasantly. It kind of scared you, but you shrugged it off. You just figured that it was because of all that happened the day before. Because of the debate, you were allowed to skip today's and tomorrow's meeting, so you caught a ride with Pap and went home with him.

"I'M GLAD YOU COULD COME HOME EARLY TODAY!" Papyrus said as he unlocked the door and walked inside. You locked the door behind you and turned to the living room, which was filled with all your monster friends, except Toriel, Frisk, and Asgore. They all stared at you and then quickly huddled together.

"Um, hey, guys." You laughed and tossed your backpack next to the sofa. "What's happening?"

"Oh! Nothing, darling!" Mettaton smiled and stood up. "Just discussing tomorrow's event! It really is going to be quite fun."

"Well, if you want it to be fun, then why don't you tell me? It seems as if everyone knows about it." You asked as you sat yourself next to Alphys. She was typing rapidly on her little phone, muttering and squealing...kinda like she was trying to busy herself so she won't spill whatever was happening.

"ABOUT WHAT?" Papyrus asked, poking his head from the kitchen. He was tying together his apron, which had the words 'KISS THE COOK' in humongous letters. Sans chuckled as he let out a cheeky smile. You couldn't help but notice how out of place he looked without his jacket; it annoyed you.

"Technically speaking, if Pap doesn't know, then 'everyone' doesn't know."

"Seriously?" You grumbled, causing him to shrug. Everyone giggled at your frustration as you shook your head and made your way towards the kitchen. "Fine. I'll just go cook with Pap-"

There was a sudden commotion coming from outside and then a banging at the door.

"(Y/n)! Dunkle! Someone!" That was the cry of Frisk. Everyone in the room sprinted for the door in sudden concern. You found yourself at the door first, which you pulled open revealing the young child and Toriel. Not far behind them was Asgore, who was defending the two from incoming rocks and thrown knives. There was a massive crowd that surrounded the front door, obviously angry and ready to kill. You pulled in the two figures in front of you and called Asgore. He immediately made a run for it and retreated into the house, which you quickly shut and locked.

"Darlings! Are you okay?" Mettaton and Papyrus were talking to Toriel, Frisk, and Asgore as Undyne blocked the door with the sofa and a nearby table. Alphys and Sans were checking the three for any injuries while you checked out the window for what exactly you were dealing with. There were people holding weapons ranging from knives to guns. They all were crowding around the house and banging at the door. Only confusion and concern swirled within your head as you backed away from the scene and looked over at Sans.

"What's happening out there, kid?" He asked as you bit your lip.

"I have no idea. There's like thousands of people out there and they want to kill us." You said to him as the voices became silent. There was the voice of a female through the door.

"Just give us (Y/n)!" She demanded, receiving a roar of agreement further behind the door. Everyone in the house stayed silent as Undyne fixed on her famous grin.

"Fuhuhuhu! Over my dead body, punk!" Undyne laughed and summoned a wall of light blue, energy arrows. Everyone looked at each other nervously and dashed away from the door, waiting for anything to happen. You would've stayed to pry Undyne away from the incoming danger but you were snatched up and rushed up the stairs into Sans room.

"Sans?" You muttered and looked up at the skeleton who was jumping around the room towards the closet.

"Kid. They want you, and I'm not letting them." He growled as you heard the front door being bashed open. There was now a commotion in the living room, with Undyne screaming out and people screeching in pain. You and Sans froze for a second and winced at the sound. Alphys, Frisk, Toriel, and Mettaton came rushing into the room, trying for a way out of the house.

"They're gonna kill us all!" Frisk cried out as Toriel held her close. Fear was among everyone as you heard something tapping at the window. With a quick glance, you saw the familiar golden petals through glass, causing you to sprint towards it. You opened the window, seeing the yellow flower swaying in the light breeze.

"Jump, you idiot. Gaster's comin' with a ride." Flowey muttered.

"What about the others?" You asked, looking back at everyone. A vine was wrapped around your waist and lifted you out of the house.

"Don't worry about them." He grumbled and called out into the window. "Hey, idiots!"

Everyone looked at the flower in surprise and started towards the window. Frisk was dropped down first, and caught with a vine. Alphys and Toriel tumbled out next, also caught by Flowey's vines. Mettaton then hopped down, landing neatly on his feet and looked up at everyone. Flowey then placed everyone down and readied a good amount of 'friendliness pellets' around the small group. You stared up at the window, waiting to see Sans' head pop out of the opening...but nothing. Worry started to drown your heart, which forced you to grow into a restless, frantic wreck. It wasn't long until the feeling became unbearable and you stepped past Flowey.

"I'm going to get him." You told him, only to be grasped again by the waist.

"Idiot. Your boyfriend will be fine." He growled and tightened his grip around you. The restlessness in your heart was starting to jump around wildly as you tried to break the grip of the tightening vine. There was a burst of light, revealing four tired figures. Undyne was holding up Asgore, who seemed injured from the raid, meanwhile Papyrus was carrying Sans over. You rushed over the skele-bros, inspecting the two. Papyrus was fine, but Sans seemed to have lost consciousness.

"Is he okay?" You asked Pap, looking down at Sans, feeling the worry and urgency bubble in your heart.

"HE'S OKAY." Papyrus muttered. "JUST TIRED."

You let out a breath of relief, but was soon rushed to start running to a nearby street. There was a yell from inside the house and then to the front of it. People started to stream into the backyard, forcing everyone to start making a run for it. You grabbed a hold of Frisk and placed her onto your back as you ran. Undyne had Alphys, while Papyrus had Sans. Mettaton wasn't far behind them, but the slowest was Toriel and Asgore.

You wanted with all your willpower to stop and help them, but something wouldn't allow your eye to spark. It could have been the worry that drown your mind or the numbing of your brain, but it killed you on the inside. The guilt was starting to rush you as the repeated thought rung in your head. They're not gonna make it. They're not gonna make it.

"(Y/n)!" Another familiar voice. You forced your head towards the sound, meeting face to face with Gaster. He was sitting in the driver seat of a huge RV truck. With a grateful smile, you slipped Frisk off your back and instructed her to get to the truck. She nodded as you rushed back to Toriel and Asgore. The flashback to Frisk's kidnapping and her near-death experience was running through your head. You were lucky that Sans had been there to block the attack, but he nearly died doing so. This time, Sans isn't going to be here to help and protect. Shaking your head, you pushed yourself faster. This time, I won't fail...I can't!

You saw as the crowd came in closer to Toriel and Asgore, allowing a small pit of doubt to become embedded into your head. With a shriek, you witnessed a knife being thrown at the two. Energy began to pump wildly towards your right eye, readying to spark but you could feel defeat pressing at your heart. No!

Flowey then popped out of the ground and shot pellets at the incoming dagger, allowing a light 'clink' to sound. His eyes were glazed with annoyance as he turned to the crowd and raised a wall of pellets. You reached the three and helped Asgore towards the truck.

"You guys really are iDIoTs." You overheard him crackle evilly, followed by the screaming of multiple people. Ignoring their shrieks of pain, you hurried Asgore and Toriel into the truck. With a quick head count, you found that everyone was inside the truck and stuck your head out of the door.

"Flowey!" You yelled out at him, causing him nod and sink into the ground. He then reappeared in front of the concrete ground, frowning at the ground limitation in front of him.

"So, (y/n). How do you expect me to get in the car?" He asked as a couple of men came rushing the truck. Flowey shot at them, injuring their legs so they couldn't charge at the vehicle anymore.

"I don't know. Uh..." You started to frantically look around the RV for something to put the flower in when Frisk dashed out with a convenient flower pot, already filled with dirt. Frisk quickly set the flower into the pot and was about to run back into the car when the sound of a gunshot split the air. Everyone froze, except for Frisk who quickly jumped out of the way of harm, leading to an intense, sharp pain that ripped through your shoulder. You screeched in agony and staggered backwards onto the floor of the RV. There was a yelp of surprise from behind you. Crap...

Clenching your teeth, you sat yourself up and held onto your right shoulder to stop the bleeding. Tears were beginning to fall as Frisk jumped into the moving car with Flowey in hand. Looking behind yourself, you noticed Alphys staring at small, floating object that was straight in between her eyes. It was covered in a purplish energy that soon faded, causing the item fell to the floor, revealing itself to be a blood-soaked bullet.

"Are you okay, (y/n)?" Gaster asked, obviously concerned. This brought the immense pain to ripple through your system, causing you to wince and choke on tears. You shook your head as you felt blood begin to seep through your hand. Alphys immediately began to address your wound, demanding bandages and alcohol from the other monsters. Everyone managed to get what she wanted as she inspected the gunshot and quickly had you bandaged up. With a relieved sigh, she pushed in her glasses and smiled at you.

"Feel alright?" She asked as she took a second glance at your bandage.

"Well, truth be told, the pain feels unbearable." You said as you pressed your hand against the area of the wound, hoping to drown out some of the sharp pain. She nodded and moved to your backside.

"Normally, humans are suppose to be knocked unconscious by now but, hey, at least we know you're okay." She sighed, causing Flowey to snatch a worried glance at Gaster. Alphys continued to pick at the tight bandage. "That bullet just missed your lung. You're very lucky."

"Really?" You asked through clenched teeth.

"Mhmm." She lightly patted your back. "You should be fine. If the bandage starts to loosen, tell me."

"Kay. Thanks, Alphys." You muttered and leaned against the side of the RV. So much for a 'pleasant' day...
