the awareness of how little of the world you'll experience

i write my number on lanterns and throw them to the sky,
hoping somebody from somewhere other than here will hit me up and exchange lives.
the trick is accepting onism,
realizing that your whole life is but a blip on the radar of the universe.
we couldn't possibly experience everything there is to see, or feel.

and maybe we are doomed to die with some sort of regret.
because everybody would want to live forever,
to experience something new...
or experience somethings twice.
how can we ever be satisfied,
when wanderlust runs wild in our veins,
filling us with the need to see all there is to see.

acknowledge the fact that onism is a cage we created.
we feel trapped in the smallness of the view outside our window.
we dream of crossing borders and finding love in faraway places.
but we tell ourselves we aren't the lucky ones...
when in fact we are powerful,
priestesses of a forgotten city.
heir to thrones we don't know exist.
