it's not like the feeling of being aged and frail,
living on faded memories.
no,
this isn't like that.
the French said it best,
De ja vu.

It is the grand haunting,
anemoia...
it's maddening to miss something you've never had.
it's seeing pictures of men in suits reading newspapers in old London,
and wanting desperately to live the days of bell skirts and parasols.

it's the ache millennials feel,
it's why we resurrect their fashion,
and music.
it's the very reason we admire the idols they admired and talk they way they talked.

it's the reason why we rebel,
why we rave and start revolutions about all the things they struggled with.

we feel a closeness to their time,
a closeness to their era and life
than we feel to our own.
we long for times we've never known,
because somehow it seems easier than the mess we live in now.

anemoia  is our poisonous vice,
it's the maze we despise but don't want to escape.
instead we hate the world we live in and say...
' I feel like I was born in the wrong time'
Or
'I'm not from this generation.'
