Why The Hell Not?

May awoke in what appeared to be a cave. It was so dark, that she could barely see in front of her. The walls, floor, and jagged  ceiling were all made of stone and she could hear water dripping around her. When she realized that she was alone, panic set in. She got up off of the cold, wet ground and tried to look around. Her eyes strained scanning the room finding nothing but dark shapes all around her. She was so frightened, she realized just then that she had actually never been alone before. Even when she thought Blue had died, he was still there but now. Nothing. No one. Or perhaps no one would have been better.

After continuously looking around finding nothing but more loneliness, she sank to the ground and began to cry. The tears burned her eyes, but it was the only thing she could do. She just felt an emptiness eating away at her from the inside, and the more it ate, the more tears came. After sobbing for what seemed forever, she heard a noise. It made her jump like their was electricity griping her heart. It was just a little tapping from behind her.

She took her time standing up and turning to see what was the cause of the continuing tapping. What she saw horrified her more than any of the ghosts ever had.

It was a man, crouched up on top of a jagged rock, his form mirrored that of a spider or large cat preparing to pounce. His arms, from what she could tell, were long and scrawny and were exposed. He was wearing a pair of of very dirty jeans that were torn at the bottom, he wasn't wearing a shirt and was almost as skinny as the ghosts. The first thing, and the thing that horrified her most, was his eyes. One was a disgusting yellow, and the other was pink, but each had a clear glaze over them that seemed to make them glow. His hair was the standard dark brown, but was perfectly straight and seemed very clean. She could the man was smiling down at her. She managed to gather enough courage to speak by thinking of Anazra and what she would do.

"W-who are you and what do you want?" She thought she saw the smile on his face grow when she said that. She slightly jumped when she saw him move, he slid over the rock like a snake and perched on the very top of it's jagged end. He chuckled softly then spoke.

"Who am I? Who the hell are you?" Even though she felt like she could barely breathe from her horror, she had to admit he had a point. Before she could even speak, he began again. "Oh I don't care. What the hell use are names anyway, all that matters is what deed is done, not who did it." She couldn't help but agree with him, but was still far from discussing philosophy with her kidnapper. She couldn't help but indulge him a little.

"And what deeds have I done?" He gave a laugh that hurt her ears.

"How the hell should I know? I know you're trying to get somewhere, and I stopped you. That's enough for me... Almost." That last part scared unsettled her even more. She swallowed her fear and kept talking. She hoped that he couldn't hear the fear in her voice.

"So why stop me? Do you know who I'm traveling with." She paused for effect. "Anazra. The leader of the Aspects." He actually bursted out laughing at that. He continued on for a month, every second that passed, she became even more frightening. He actually had to wipe a tear from his face before he could continue.

"Anazra. As leader of the Aspects? God damn kid, don't know who you are, but you're funny as hell." Her knees began shaking.

"W-what? What are you laughing at?" She hated it, but she could hear her own voice shaking and filling with tears.

"Well first off, that bossy hermit, is not a leader of anything. She just sits in a forest ignoring those who try to be her friends. Second, their is no leader among us. It's not even that theirs a lack of, too many in fact." He glared at her for a moment. "None of us like being told what to do. Creates a problem with the whole leader thing." She could feel herself shaking. He smiled down at her once more. "Awww, how cute. The new guy trust's Az to save them." She tried to mask the fear with anger, but it didn't work.

"She'll kill you. She come here and rescue me, and murder you."  With very much grace, he dropped off the rock directly in front of her, causing her to stumble backwards and trip. He was chuckling deeply.

"Is that so? Well I'd like very much to see that." He stood looming over her. She began to cry once again. She couldn't help it, the fear was just too much.

"Shut up!" He laughed a little more.

"Oh, what's the matter? Afraid that little Az won't be able to save you? That she'll fail? You know she is strong, no one here would deny that, but for little bit of strength she uses against me, I can double it." May screamed and he laughed. She turned and began to run, but felt a foot in the center of her back, causing her to fall back down. "Come on. Do better." He said with cruelty in his voice.

May didn't know what to do, she thought she was going to die right when she remembered how she felt when the ghost first attacked. She just pictured herself no longer there. From what she could tell it worked.

From what he saw, one second he was kicking a new Aspect to the ground and the next, she was gone. He actually became more excited at this.

"Yes! Now you're getting it. Just don't screw this up." May had to concentrate, but she managed to scoot away and in between two rocks. She didn't dare move, for fear that he'd hear her. She tried her hardest not to cry, or at least cry loudly. She stayed like that for so long. She didn't know if she was down there for hours, days, weeks, or just minutes extended by the fear. Every second though, the man was screaming and yelling about how much fun she really was, and how Anazra couldn't help her. After so time he got quite and said he was bored. Then their was silence.

May actually preferred his yelling, that way she could tell where he was. Now, she had no idea at all. It scared her how quiet it was, it was as if the silence was actually pushing down on her. Not even the sound of water dripping.

She didn't know what it was, but she felt like he was close. Very close. She tried her best to make sure she was still invisible but couldn't tell herself. Though instinct, she glanced up, afraid of what she might see. She immediately decided she wished she hadn't looked up. He was crawling on top of the rocks like a spider, slowly advancing closer to her. He was directly above her when he stopped and sniffed the air. Her heart was pounding so hard, she was afraid he may hear it. He continued sniffing, then got a villainous smile.

"I didn't know Grey and Blix got together." He said aloud. Then leaned forward so that he was looking right at her. "I'll have to give them a visit." He gave a toothy grin. She saw that he actually had fangs. She couldn't help but scream and try to bolt. He dropped on top of her when she got out from in between the rocks. He dug his boney knee into her back and pushed her face into the cold stone. She tried to fight him, but he had her pinned. Her hand found a rock, and she managed to bust him in the face with it and kick him off.

She wasted no time getting away, the second he was off she was running again. He was laughing on the ground behind her, but he was soon up and after her. She ran as hard as she could, but he still cought up and pushed her to the ground. When she fell, she cut her hands on the stone and scraped her head. He walked to the side of her.

"I don't think you know what it's like, always having this feeling, always needing to do something just because someone else is doing the opposite." He kicked her in the side. She yelled out in pain. "How the hell could you? You're... You're." He seemed to be studying her. After a moment, he got that terrible grin. "Well maybe you do. Or at least you will." His grin grew at that. May looked up at him with tears in her eyes.

"W-what do you mean?" He just shook his head and gave a crule laugh.

"You'll find out soon. Huh, can't believe Az didn't pick up on that." And within an instant of him talking, he kicked her in the stomach again. She cried out once more and he only kicked harder in response.

"Why?!" Is all she could manage to get out through the flood of tears and bombardment of strikes. He laughed maniacally once more.

"Just because you don't want me too! For the very fact that it can screw with someone is why." He stepped back and opened his arms like he was giving a speech. "I'm the bane of everyone's existence including my own. I'm a desiese, a plague, a champion! I'd rip off my left arm just to piss off my right one!" He was extending his arms up and breathing heavily. "I know you're new, but really. Get with the god damn program." May could only stair at him. She didn't know his name, but she now knew what he was, and that scared her even more.

It seemed like he was going to start kicking her again, but a ghastly wail pierced both of their ears. May shivered but the man just seemed annoyed and rolled his eyes.

"Another one. These things are really getting old." He looked down to her. "Don't move, or I'll make you want death more than breath." He then just walked in the direction of the wail. May just laid there for a little, until she could no longer see him and hadn't heard anything for a time. She started to get up, she had to hold on to her stomach for some hope of lessening the pain. When she made it to her knees, she heard a squeal come from the direction of the man. She froze, and only waited.

To her immediate horror, she turned to find the blank eyes of a dead deer staring right at her. She screamed and jumped back. She then noticed the creature was advancing on her, she went frantic and threw a rock at it. It bounced off the creature's head and it  reached it's lethal claws out to her. She kicked at the creature but that only resulted in her legs getting torn open. The ghost looked over her then fell directly on top of her, making it very difficult to move for her. It began biting and trying to take peices out of her, but she thrashed against it and managed to get some leverage. She used her weight to push it back and armed herself with another jagged rock, and when the ghost came back at her she busted it in the skull. It was only dazed for a second before it managed to push her onto her back and begin slashing at her. She managed to block the vicious claws twice, but the third swipe tore into her flesh. Their were two gashes starting at her temple and carrying over just to her eye.

Her blood flooded into her eye and down her face, she was crying out for help but she knew that only the man was somewhere, and her wouldn't save her. The ghost raised it's boney arm high, preparing for on last swipe across her throat. May squeezed her eyes shut not wanting to see her own blood squirt out of her. As the hand beagn to swipe, it's wrist was cought and held firmly in place by the man, now covered in the black blood of another ghost. The  monster hissed at him and went to bite him. He allowed it to close it's jaws around his hand, his bright crimson blood oozed out of the creature's mouth. The man growled and gave a quite laugh at the creature, that made May even more afraid of him. The man pulled the ghost's head back and shoved his free hand into it's ribcage. He cackled the snapped it's jaw, killing it. He pulled his hand out and let it fall to the ground.

He looked at his hand that was covered with the creature's black, oozey blood.

"This stuff burns like hell if you get enough on you." He said, showing no real sign of pain. He eyed May and flicked some of it at her. She flinched when it first touched her, it felt like getting stung by an angry hornet. "See?" He then just turned and started walking away, May was just staring in shock but he just kept walking. After he climbed up on a rock he looked back at her.

"You coming?" Her jaw dropped a little.

"What?" He looked annoyed.

"Are you coming with me or not?" She started to get to her feet, she had to hold the gash on her face because of the profuse bleeding and the almost unbearable pain.

"Why would I do that?" He looked at her like she was stupid.

"Because those things are crawling all over this place, and you obviously can't fight for yourself. You need me." He said that last part with a sneer. She was seething with anger.

"You think after everything you just did to me I'd just follow you?!" He slightly shrugged.

"I mean why not? I saved you afterwards. I don't see why you are so angry." Her rage was beginning to cancel out the pain.

"You think that justifies torturing me?" He truly looked like he thought he didn't do anything wrong.

"Ummm, yeah. You'd be dead if it weren't for me." She was about to say something else but their was a crashing sound coming from one end of the cave that made May jump in fright. The man smiled. "It's about damn time." May turned to look at him on the rock but he was so much closer than she had expected, he was standing right behind her. "Sorry for this one." He said as he punched her so hard in the face that she flew backwards and was knocked out. He looked at her for a moment, then to the direction of the crash. "Come on dear sister. Come get your prize."

He then scooped up May and started off in the opposite direction. Just fast enough to reach where he wanted to be right before Anazra.
