Event - Easter
Happy Easter!
:3
Rays of sun were just starting to shine through the half open curtains of the mansion's main master bedroom when Cross woke up. The air was cold and crisp, as it always was in that massive home of theirs.
The smol shivered softly, sinking down further into the blankets and hunching his shoulders up to his neck. His hands were slightly numb, the tingle of pins-and-needles travelling up his fingertips as he wiggled them.
Beside him, his husband shifted and mumbled sleepy nonsense as he rolled over to face the smaller. One arm flung itself over his waist from over the blanket, applying a gentle pressure to his hips.
Cross looked at him fondly, a smile spreading across his face. Nightmare always looked so much calmer when he slept, minus the frown. He was relaxed.
As much as he wanted to snuggle right into his goopy lover's chest, Cross shifted backwards and trying to slip out of his grip. The idea was to do it silently and without waking Nightmare. But as usual, he was a very light sleeper. Like a cat, the slightest noise would cause him to wake right up to check what it was, not allowing himself to ignore it.
Cross froze as Nightmare's eye opened a slit, staring right at him.
"Going somewhere?"
The smaller looked up at him meekly, a squeak escaping him as Nightmare's tentacles curled around his waist and kept him in place. "You weren't supposed to wake up..."
"I gathered that." His voice was sleepy, but laced with obvious amusement as he looked down at him. "Care to tell me why you were trying to escape our warm bed at seven in the morning?"
He let out a soft whine, his cheeks heating up as Nightmare lazily kissed his shoulder. "Nooo...it's supposed to be a surprise..."
"Why?" He grunted, shifting about a bit on the bed. "It's not anyone's birthday or anything, is it?"
"No, but it's Easter!" He said softly, embarrassed.
He hummed, cocking a brow. "And?"
"Well I..." He fiddled with his hands nervously, his eyes locking onto the blanket instead of him as his fingers played with his wedding ring. "I wanted to set up an Easter Egg hunt for the kids and us..."
The octopus hummed, smirking. "Couldn't you just do that later?"
"No." He shook his head adamantly. "They'll wake up soon and then it won't be a surprise! There's no fun in it then."
He laughed softly, his arms wrapping around his waist. "I'm sure they can have their own fun. And we can have ours~" He purred, suddenly pulling the smol into his chest and squeezing his hips.
Cross gasped, his face flushing darkly as Nightmare buried his face into the crook of his neck, kissing and occasionally licking it. "N-Nighty nooo...~" He panted, shaking his head.
The taller ignored him and hummed softly, rubbing his hips firmly while dragging his tongue up his already bite mark ridden neck.
"I s-said no!" He gasped, pressing his hands against his chest and pushing him away. "N-Not now..."
"Now?" He leaned back a bit, grinning. "So maybe later~?"
Cross flushed darker, twisting his wedding ring around and around his finger thoughtlessly. "Only if...you let me go do what I wanted to do, and behave across this morning."
"Can't I just come set it up with you?" He muttered, already starting to sit up.
"N-No!" He yelped, pouncing on the taller and pushing him back down onto the bed roughly.
Nightmare yelped in surprise, a wheezed gasp escaping him as the air was knocked out of his non-existent lungs. "Sweet mother of Joku okay! I'll stay here!"
"Good." Cross huffed, glaring down at him before leaning in for a quick apology kiss. "I promise I won't be long."
Nightmare whined childishly as Cross slipped off of him, reaching a hand out weakly as his lover stood up. "Are you really going to leave your poor lonely husband all alone in bed, cold and sad without a beautiful waifu to cuddle?"
The smol looked at him, purple blush staining his cheekbones as he pulled a fluffy hoodie over his small frame for warmth. "Yes."
"I should have expected that."

By the time Cross was done with hiding all his little Easter eggs, Nightmare had grown bored and fallen back asleep.
The octopus had pulled a pillow tight to his chest, imagining it was Cross. His arms and tentacles were both wrapped around it tightly and his face was pressed right into it. Of course the pillow wasn't exactly 'Cross-shaped' so he ended up constantly shifting it about in his semi-awake sleeping state.
The real Cross -not the pillow one- slowly creeped back into the room, his cheeks heating up despite the cold as he saw Nightmare snuggling with a pillow. For a moment, a short flash of jealousy spiked in his soul, thinking how that could have been him pressed against Nightmare's chest instead of a pillow. But he just shook his head, scowling. It was a pillow for Christ's sake, you can't get jealous over an inanimate object.
But then the pillow drew the line when Nightmare nuzzled it fondly, applying a sleepy kiss to its fabric cover.
The smol huffed, crawling onto the bed and promptly ripping the pillow from his husband's grasp.
The taller immediately yelped, his eyes flashing open and hand instinctively grabbing onto the pillow. "Hey what the hell-- Cross?"
"That's enough cuddling the pillow." He growled, pulling it away and throwing it onto the floor.
Nightmare blinked rapidly, looking up at him in confusion. "I like that pillow."
"Tough." He grumbled before wriggling through Nightmare's arms and pressing his face against his chest. "Now love me."
He didn't do anything for a moment, still confused. But eventually he pulled him closer, applying soft butterfly kisses to his skull. "What's up with you, sweetheart? Aren't you going to drag me out to search for eggs or something?"
The smol muttered something unintelligible before shifting to look up at him weakly. "In a minute..." His voice was soft, having an edge of want to it.
"...Do you need something?" He reached up a hand to trace over his slightly purple dusted cheek, humming.
Cross shook his head quickly before pausing and reconsidering, giving a small shy nod.
"And what would that be, my Queen?" He asked rubbing his thumb softly on his cheek while a grin grew on his face.
He shrank down at the nickname, nervously fiddling with the hem of his hoodie. "J-Just a kiss..."
"Is that all?" He hummed, leaning closer to the embarrassed smol.
"N-No..." He mumbled, shaking his head weakly and shifting a bit closer.
"Are you looking for a cuddle as well~?"
"Maybe..."
Nightmare snorted, one hand rubbing the smol's back while the other squeezed his hip softly before he leaned in and pressed their mouthes together.
The smaller let out a small trill of happiness before slipping his hands up to wrap around the back of Nightmare's neck loosely and kissing back.
The two of them shivered happily, enjoying the moment for a good ten seconds before Nightmare gently pulled back, a soft smirk on his face. "Happy~?"
Cross nodded softly, quickly moving a hand back to wipe away the small bit of drool that had started to leak down his chin. "Y-Yeah...~"
"Good." He hummed, pushing himself up into a sitting position. "Now, are you going to take me on this Easter egg hunt or not?"
"Oh yeah!" The smol sat up next to Nightmare and slid out of bed once more before grabbing Nightmare's shirt and hoodie -which had been left on a chair in their room last night- before throwing them at him. "Hurry up!"
The taller yelped, ducking down before the clothes could slap him in the face. "Okay okay! I'm coming, calm down!" He dragged himself out of bed, hastily pulling the black shortsleeved shirt over his bare top half before slipping the hoodie on loosely as well. He was already wearing shorts of course. "I'm reaadddyyy."
"Yay!" Cross jumped up childishly, grabbing onto his lover's hand tightly before pulling him along and out of their bedroom and out into the chilling corridor. "Now, let me tell you the rules."
"There are rules to an Easter egg hunt?" Nightmare asked in surprise, looking down at him.
"In my one, yes." He rolled his eyes before gesturing around. "So, you have to go around and try find as many Easter eggs as possible, BUT, you can't actually collect any of them."
"...Why?"
"Because that's what the kids will do. If you collect them all, they'll have nothing to find."
"Makes sense." Nightmare muttered, a small smirk growing on his face as he caught sight of one of the small chocolate eggs peaking out from behind one of the books on their many shelves. "So what do I do if I find one?"
"Tell me, and I'll check before tallying it down!" He smiled brightly, holding a notepad and pen in his hands.
"Well, there's one there." He pointed lazily over to the bookshelf humming. "Is that a point?"
Cross whipped around, looking at the bookshelf with a wide grin. "Yup!"
Nightmare watched as he drew down a small line on the paper, smirking. "And do I get a prize at the end of this?"
The smaller looked up at him, a small smirk forming on his lips. "You get to pick your prize, but only if you find all of the eggs. All 100 of them."
He looked at him in amusement, a tentacle playfully tapping Cross' side before he started to walk down the corridor, his eye scanning across the walls and floor. "Well let's get started then~"
———————
"Hot. Hotter. Boiling. Cold."
"Are you kidding me?" Nightmare shot him an irritated glance, stepping back to the side to where he once was.
"No." Cross snickered, looking at him from his position on the table. "You're so close to it that if it were a dog it would bite you."
The octopus groaned loudly, crouching down to check through all the cupboards by his feet.
He'd found 99 of the 100 eggs so far. They'd been in all sorts of absurd places. In the bathroom shower, tub, cupboards and sink. In the spare bedrooms, behind the curtains, tucked up in bed, wedged between books. There had been a few tucked away in the corners of the stairs, sat on the banisters or just sat menacingly in the middle of a corridor. There had even been a few outside, resting in the few flowerbeds they had where the poor plants hadn't died. And now they were in the kitchen, having been everywhere else. So far Nightmare had found some inside cooking utensils, some in the fridge, oven -which was off-, sink and even the odd cereal box. But there was still one missing.
"Are you messing with me?" He growled, slamming the cupboard doors shut in frustration.
"No Nighty I swear I'm not!" Cross said between giggles, pressing a hand over his mouth.
"Can I give up?"
"Only if you want to loose your prize."
"Fuck no."
"Language."
"Whatever, can you give me a hint or something?" He asked, looking at him hopefully.
"Alright, um." Cross thought, forcing himself to keep his eyes focused on anywhere but where the egg was. "Okay, what's one of your nicknames for me?"
"I've got about 100 sweetheart, this could take a while."
The smol blushed, shaking his head softly. "No, one of the long nicknames."
Nightmare blinked, frowning softly as he thought. "Long one? My perfect waifu?"
"No." He giggled, blushing slightly darker as he swung his legs back and forth.
"Uh, the best thing that's ever happened to me?"
"Nooo..." He looked away, covering his face in his hands.
"The light of my life?"
"That one!" Cross almost jumped, nodding quickly.
"That's my clue? How does that-- Oh." He slowly tipped his head back, looking up at the mini chandelier-like light they had in the kitchen.
Perched on one of the rings of metal holding it up, a little egg was perched happily, practically looking down at them.
He grinned widely, a tentacle reaching up to curl around it gently and pull it down. "Found you."
Cross giggled, only to squeak right after as another tentacle wrapped around his waist and pulled him closer.
"Now~" Nightmare purred, placing the egg down and cupping the smaller's cheek softly with a hand. "Time for my prize~"
