Perci was fuming. If she was Leo she would literally have smoke coming out of her ears. After all she has done and sacrificed, she now has to sacrifice an eternity? And she doesn't have any choice? Bullshit.

The random dude who was her 'betrothed' was not only an idiot, but he was a god! True, not an especially powerful one but he would live for a millenia unless killed in battle like the Hunters. Thus Perci got the one thing she never wanted, immortality. Granted they could have made her full on immortal but this felt just as bad.

This entire rant happened inside Perci's head next to the punch table. Who knew the gods would have punch. She was downing glass after glass; Dionysus having spiked it almost immediately. Though Perci was 21 (yeah she's aged up) she had never considered drinking before, worrying it would dull her senses. Luckily this is exactly what she was looking for.
This was her life now. Being tied down for an eternity? Perci had thought this statement many times before, but it never hit home as much as it does now: fuck my life.

————— "Line" by an author who is tired

Thor knew the idea of an arranged marriage was to have a choice in the matter, but his betrothed at leads deserved to know she was getting married.

He had heard many stories of the fearsome Perseus Jackson and the seven, their constant fight to save the world. He doesn't know who he was expecting, but one of the greatest weapons of the Greek Parthenon was not it.

He was currently standing by the stairway with Odin and Loki. He subconsciously fiddling with his hammer, an old habit from his youth.

Thor understood his role in life and knew what was expected of him from a young age, but he felt that the young woman was not in a position that this was expected of her.

He looked over at his betrothed, and he almost laughed amongst all the worry and anger he had. She was downing drink after drink. He made a split second decision and started to walk over to her.

The volume of the room lowered as they all watched him approach her. They waited to see what he would decide to do.

Perci didn't know what was going on. She was in the middle of drinking her bajillionth drink when the room grew quite. She turned from the punch bowl and straight into a face that she really did not want to see.

Ahh yes that made sense. The room was waiting to see what they would say, what they would do. Perci waited to see what he would do being the approached.

Thor awkwardly cleared his throat.
"May I suggest something stronger?" He held out a glass of Asgardian Mead. He would normally not give it to anyone of non godly status but she was half god and immortal so he figured it was probably adequate.

She seemed surprised by his offer, not expecting a gesture such as this to be their first interaction. But she levelled him with a half glare-half smirk and grabbed the glass. She threw back her head, taking it all in one go. She placed it back in his still outstretched hand and stalked off, back up the stairs. Could've gone worse.

Perci sat by a small lake, sitting just on the edge of the water. She stared out across it, and it in turn reflected the stars and constellations in the sky. Things were simpler once. She would train, play, swim, talk, laugh, dance. Now she didn't even know what her tomorrow would look like. But she kind of did. She saw having to be with someone she didn't want to be with. She saw outliving her friends and family. She saw being alone.

Wanting to be away from all of- well, it, she stood up and walked into the water. With every step she felt more at peace, like it was easier to forget about all of her problems. As she sank into the water the noise that filled up Olympus died away, and it was just Perci and the water.

She wasn't sure how long she stayed there, sitting beneath the surface just feeling the water around her, but all of a sudden she felt a change in the water. She quickly turned and poked her head up above the water. There, standing there right next to the water was the big idiot.

"What." Perci glared at him.
"May we talk Miss Perseus?" He appeared to be alone. Perci moved forward in the water until she was sitting cross legged with her torso above the water.
"Fine. And don't call me Perseus. Everyone just calls me Perci." She couldn't ignore his existence forever. He sat down as well, just at the waters edge.

"I understand you do not want this. I too did not ask for this particular union but to go against both Parthenon's would be useless." Perci grunted in agreement thinking of her family and friends.
"So what do you propose?" She was curious of what could possibly be a good solution.

"I think that we must create the appearance of us at least abiding by their wishes. We stay together, we get seen together, we help each other. This could keep us both safe."
"And our families too." Perci agreed to the sentiment. Doesn't mean she likes it. Thor continued.

"I help a team called the Avengers defend Earth. They don't know about the other Parthenon's; they think we're aliens." Perci snorted and rolled her eyes. Mortals. "I stay with them most of the time, and they would be suspicious of me if I discontinued that. We stay in New York in Stark Tower at the penthouse; you would still be close enough to all your friends. And I'm pretty sure your camp wouldn't appreciate a God encroaching on their space." Perci sighed at the suggestion. She knew she wouldn't be able to go back to normal but this would have to do.

"Would I be able to visit my Mom and friends? That wouldn't mess up the agreement right?" Though Perci didn't feel a sense of purpose at Camp Half Blood, she wanted to be able to be her own person, not having to worry about her fiancée or the gods.

Thankfully Thor nodded heavily.
"Of course. I would never want to force you to do anything. It's our families that are the problem." They nodded in agreement. Life would be easier for both of them if it weren't for their families, if not sad and lonely.

"Okay. Let's do this. I mean, we got a while to figure this out, an eternity." They both awkwardly laughed, it trailing off with a sigh.

They continued to sit by/in the water, watching the glowing lights from the party that was supposedly in their honour. Perci knew that was untrue, obvious by the fact that they probably barely noticed they were gone. She sighed at how much more difficult her life had become, but oddly thankful that it was Thor she had it to go through.

Gods no, she would never like him romantically. But they both wanted to protect their people, she could respect that in Thor. This may not have been what the Gods were looking for, but this might just be what they needed.
