Perci was not having the most amazing day. Ever since the war, everyone seemed to have a purpose.
Both camps started working together, creating an exchange program of sorts. This allowed the Greeks to study in New Rome, while Romans were able to experience Camp Half-Blood and train like a Greek. That went about as well as expected. Sure there had been a few insults, several fist fights and a broken nose but all in all it was proving to be quite beneficial to both sides.
Nico was acting as a delegate between the camps, being the only one who experienced both camps fully before contact. However, the response to Nico from both camps were very much like the ones after the Battle of Manhattan. Over time, the Romans suggested he should stay with the Greeks as that's what he experienced first; while the Greeks motivated him to go to the Roman side as it appeared they didn't learn from the first time round. As much as Perci urged him to ignore the comments, Nico felt unwanted and out of place. All this resulted in Nico retreating back to the Underworld, fulfilling his role as the Ghost King by serving out his fathers and step mothers wishes. He popped by every now and then to see Perci and Hazel (and sometimes went off to see a certain blonde doctor), but other than that he had become a ghost (excuse the pun) around the camps.
Hazel and Frank had just become closer than ever since the battle, and most demigods wouldn't see one without the other. Frank was a Praetor and was still coming into the role. His ability to shape shift made him a valuable asset in the rebuilding and reshaping of New Rome. Hazel has continued to ride Arion, using him to travel across the work looking for lost souls forced to wonder the mortal plane. This may not seem like the job for sweet little Hazel, but the battle proved that she was a formidable threat, and her youth and innocence often helped her gather the souls and guide them.
Jason spent most of his time in New Rome, as he wanted to study and experience a more "normal" life, well as normal as the life of a Demigod can get. Piper spends more time with her Dad, having gained appreciation for the little things she has. Due to Mellie being his assistant, it was much easier to organise meet ups and she generally looked happier, almost glowing every time she comes back from a trip with her Dad. As a couple they seemed less together, but I guess having fake memories of love between them doesn't help.
Leo like the dramatic ass he is rolled up to camp not too long after the war with Gaea. Though the camp held a funeral, most of the seven/Hephaestus cabin believed that he wasn't dead. This belief was mainly down to three things:
1. Nico said his soul hadn't entered the underworld
2. No traces of Festus could be found around the battleground
3. Leo is too dramatic to just die like that. He would have at least attached fireworks and left a huge eulogy for everyone, mostly comprised of him recounting every moment of his life.
When he came back with Calypso it was a bit awkward. Mostly Perci and Calypso nodded at each other and agreed not to talk about it. They left not long after to visit Camp Jupiter before settling down or set up a shop that they were always laughing about.
Thalia had come by with the hunters more often, getting supplies and dropping off new demigods. She and Jason were trying to rekindle their relationship, but this proved hard with the many years apart. However, Perci had become a confidante for her, and Thalia (though she would never admit it) had broken down several times at the lack of cohesion with her brother.
And Annabeth.
Annabeth had become distant from Perci, ignoring their long time status as best friends. She was throwing herself into work on Olympus and helping Jason build all the temples for the minor gods, a task that was proving to be a very difficult feat. All that along with being designated Head Camper meant that Perci and Annabeth could only meet up every few days even though they practically lived nest door to each other.
By this point you might be wondering where Perci fits into all of this. She turned down being a god. Again. She turned down being an assistant to Poseidon, like Nico is for Hades. She turned down being an ambassador between the camps. She turned down a position in the Roman legion. She turned down the position as joint Head Camper, preferring to blend into the background.
The problem with that however, is that stories of her battles (along with many others) were told weekly at campfire, older campers sharing stories of the legendary seven. Perci tried to sit at other tables, but the younger and newer campers always were in awe and asking questions. Perci didn't mind answering, but she just wanted to eat surrounded by normal small talk.
Whenever Perci wanted to spar with anyone, most campers refused, preferring to watch. There were few demigods who were willing to take on "the greatest swordsman in 300 years". Clarisse was always happy to, but had recently moved to New Rome to learn new techniques to better beat campers up. This mostly left Perci decapitating dummy after dummy, mortal and enchanted ones, often with a crowd of campers cheering her on.
Perci couldn't even go swimming without having the fish and other marine life coming up and pestering her with questions.
Of course no one else knew that this is how she felt. She felt the need to smile and make jokes and act as if she was living her best life. She knew that this was not in any way a good thing, but revealing how she truly felt would mean she was weak. Everyone from both camps looked up to her. She felt the need to always seem positive though that was far from what she felt most of the time.
Perci wanted nothing more than normalcy. But she knew she would never get that again. Not after Manhattan. not after Gaea.
Which leads to today. Perci was not enjoying today. Originally she was going to visit her mother, but Chiron insisted she stay and train some new campers. Perci said yes, hoping to beat the rumours about her and just get a normal beginners sword class. But some of the Apollo cabin had beaten her there. Of the 5 new campers, 2 of them looked at her like she was a pop star, 1 of them (daughter of Ares) challenged her and lost instantly and the other 2 didn't seem impressed by her achievements, scoffing about how much more they would achieve. Perci, as always, smiled through gritted teeth and started teaching basics.
Next the gods sent me an invitation to a party they were having on Olympus. This was surprising for several reasons:
1. The gods don't normally invite Demigods to Olympus unless it was for a very good or very bad thing.
2. The gods inviting her? Something is 100% up.
And 3. They said to dress nice. Why do they want her to dress nice? For what reason could that possibly be useful.
Perci had spent the rest of the afternoon trying to contact the rest of the seven. Each of them told her that they had too been invited, but instead had their respective parent come down and invite them.
Why would the gods visit each of them to tell them about the party, but send a paper invitation to Perci?
Perci figured she'd find out tomorrow night, but couldn't help feel concerned at the suspicious circumstances that had arisen.
