POV's of this story will change, so every time it changes and in the beginning of every chapter it will say the name of whoever's POV it is now. 'A' for Anubis and 'M' for Mazikeen.

I followed the Headmaster of a boarding school  in Colorado through the lobby as he gave me a tour. I'm a Principality angel, so I'm not a high level angel. I basically am sent down to Earth to help  struggling humans. Usually struggling in life, like with finances or social interactions.

But I haven't met who I was sent down to yet; I usual don't meet those people right away, but I gotta say, this is the longest it's taken to meet them. I don't know anything about them until I meet them, I only know that I met them because I can usually sense when I'm near them. Like a sort of magnetic pull towards them.

This time was a lot different though; when I met him I just felt such an intense sadness. It was so overwhelming, I felt it before we even got in view of him.

As the Headmaster took me around the school for the tour we passed him in the hallway. I didn't get to look at him, but from what I saw out of the corner of my eye his hair was dark and he was wearing a long sleeve on one arm and a half length sleeve on the other. Not sure why, but that's what I saw.

The Headmaster took me to all of my classes in the morning, just showing me the classrooms. My classes won't start until the next week.

Around lunchtime, the Headmaster was taking me to see my dorm. That's when we saw 'him' again, at a locker this time.

"Ah, Anubis," the Headmaster paused by the teen. He looked up from his phone and at the Headmaster, and I honestly felt my heart jump. I was kinda scared that I'd have a heart attack, that had never happened before.

'Anubis' was very pretty; his face was surprisingly elegant looking, his lower lip more full and his eyes angled downward a little bit at the ends, like sad puppy eyes. His eyes were very dark brown, and his skin was fair, yet also had an almost tan-olive tone to it. He also had many piercings in his face; three in his lower lip, two in one eyebrow and one in his other, one in his septum, one in the side of his nose, and like eight up his ears. I didn't count the ones in his ears, I just guessed how many there were. His hair was black, and long enough to touch his shoulders, buzzed on the right side of his head. It was pulled back in a ponytail, except for a portion of his bangs. The top part of the ponytail was spikey a little bit, because the hair from the front wasn't as long as the rest.

He also had one full arm of tattoos, and half of the other arm tattooed. He was wearing short sleeves, the sleeves I had seen were his tattoos. He also had tattoos covering both middle fingers, and the top of the hand of the arm that was fully tattooed. I didn't get to look too good at the tattoos, but I did notice that the full sleeve was all floral things, and the one on his hand was a rose. All of the tattoos were in full color, they were gorgeous.

"Classes done for the day?" the Headmaster said to him, almost condescendingly.

"Yep," Anubis said. He put his phone away when the Headmaster stopped by him, then grabbed a Thermos from the locker. He popped it open and drank some sort of thick black-red liquid from it.

"How's Culinary going?" the Headmaster asked him, though not in the same, almost interrogating way that he had asked the first question.

"Good," Anubis said. He didn't seem to enjoy this conversation at all, and only gave the simplest of answers.

"That's good," the Headmaster said, clearly recognizing that Anubis hated this. "Maybe next week you can help Mazikeen here get started with her classes. She has the same non-major classes that you do, you can just make sure she's understanding the material. And you can spend the time until then getting acquainted."

Now, that had been said in more of a 'do it, or else' sort of way.

Anubis nodded at him, drinking more from the Thermos. "Fine," he said.

The headmaster nodded back, then put his hand on my back and gently patted it. "Well, then you can start now, since you don't have any more classes."

Anubis then looked like he wished he hadn't even come to the locker in the first place. "Fine," he said, reaching into his locker and grabbing what looked like a suitcase from the bottom, then grabbing the Thermos and shutting his locker. "Could be useful to have a taste-tester, I suppose.

"Come with me, I guess," he said to me. "I need to practice some things for an exam."

I nodded and started to follow him as he walked off. The headmaster didn't follow us.

"You already know my name now," I said as we walked. "But you can call me Maze."

He looked at me. "You can call me Ani." He said after a second.

I smiled, feeling proud of myself that I got him to speak to me and not sound like he regretted existing. I followed him through the hallways and out of that building. I was curious as to where we were going, but I didn't voice my curiosity. We walked across the open part of the campus and to another, shorter and longer building. He pushed the doors open and held one open for me, and then I saw where we were going. The building had signs with arrows pointing different directions labeling how to get to several kitchens and different storage units.

"Are we going to cook?" I asked Ani.

"I am," he replied. His voice was pretty quiet and low when he was talking to me. "You can taste-test for me if you want."

I nodded, grinning. "Okay!" I was excited to try his food; I liked Earth food, and I was curious as to what he would make. I was also glad that he seemed to be alright with me even though we had just met; he clearly didn't like the headmaster.
