magnificent in their arrogance

disdainful as lions

wide kneed stride         across the polished wood floor.

Young men in gorilla stance

raise simian arms furred with hair

eyes snake with insidious intent

nostrils hippopotamus-flair         calculated contempt.

When the whistle shrieks

                                        the herd thunders north

one antelopes catches up the prize

leaps and strains         limbs describing         a perfect     t r a j e c t o r y

                                                                                for one frozen moment

                                                                                triumph seems complete...
