{Chapter 20}
{Previous: 'Alright.'
I looked up ahead when I heard his voice again.
'There's mobs that's for sure. But they all seemed to be attracted by each others sounds. Since they've been in the dark for so long there blind and mindless creatures. They won't even acknowledge my communication with them. And the reason they came over here now was cause of your screaming and crying'
"Your were yelling too!"
'But they cant hear me now can they?'
"......true. So, I'm guessing you want me to go in there still?"
'Yes.'
I sighed in slight annoyance.
"Alright, time to physically and mentally prepare."}
I had been digging through the frozen gravel for 20 minutes now. I manage to create just a large enough hole for me to fit through.
Remember not to speak. They're attracted to sound.
I thought.
And to be sure of my silence I even took my shoes off. Though I kept my soft socks on because the floor was cold. It was hard to see ahead of me, a part of me wished I had made a stock of night vision potions before ever coming here at all.
I stopped in my tracks as I heard light scraping. Almost like someone was dragging their feet while walking. I stepped to the side against the wall as a frozen zombie limped their way past me and down the hall but then turned only to hit a wall.
I looked at the zombie confused but a little worried for the zombie as well. Surprisingly.
They seem more brain dead then a normal zombie would. I turned back and continued making my way down the hall still close to the wall.
I stopped when I realized the wall I was near had ended. It was another hall though it led to a large opening. So it seems. There was frozen and broken planks of wood scattered everywhere. The same wood that the wooden vaults were made from.
So I was right, the wooden vaults were for blocking out mob infested caves. If I were to guess it would be the mob spawners that's what made it so inaccessible for humans at the time.
I continue the other direction, walking by halls that were in the same situations. Passing by frozen mobs of all sorts, zombies, skeletons, spiders, even cave spiders. What did surprise me though was that the skeletons who seemed to behave normally did not bother me. In fact, I think they are aware that I'm here.
One skeleton took the time to take a long look at me before silently turning back into one of the caves.
"Why don't they attack?"
I whispered quietly.
'The skeletons are the only functional mobs that I could get a hold of. They no better not to touch you especially since your working for me.'
Herobrine said, it freaked me out when he talked in the silence. His voice would echoe slightly.
I nod and continue walking.
What felt like forever I finally hit a dead end. Nothing. I can't mine cause that'll cause too much noise. So now what.
I sigh and brush my hair back with a hand.
"Well."
Was all I could say.
"This was a bust. Don't you think?"
No response. I raise a brow as I turn back.
"Herobrine?" I whispered.
Still no response. He couldn't be ignoring me could he? Unless his spirit wondered off or something.
There was a light clicking noise heading my way. It was a fast pace at first but it slow down when it got closer.
A skeleton stepped into the light and stared at me.
"What?"
I asked confused. He or she motioned me to follow them. So I did.
We walked for a little while before Herobrine Finally spoke.
'You passed this hall'
I narrowed my eyes "Why didn't you say anything before?"
'Cause you passed the barrier.'
"Barrier?"
'Yes! You past the barrow I couldn't pass so I had to send a damn mob to get you!'
He said with a annoyed tone.
"Yeesh well I'm sorry that I took your silence as a simple 'oh you left me or ignoring me'"
I whispered with a equally annoyed tone.
He growled towards me but I just ignored him and walked down the hall I had passed. Inside was a room with maps and chests scattered everywhere.
My eyes caught a large map on the wall that showed the whole mineshaft. Ends of the mine were marked with Xs or squares.
But then I noticed something about this map. A large line stretched across the map from the top right to the middle of the bottom.
It clicked in my head that this wasn't Just here. It was the barrier.
I turned to another map that was smaller but showed the entire forbidden lands. There was a circle in the area marked in red. And near the center were two stars. I looked at the first star which was closest to where I was.
"Wait, is that.. the house I'm staying in? Then if that's it then does that mean there's another house somewhere out there??"
'Sure seems like it.'
Herobrine mumbled.
"Well wouldn't you know?? From what I can tell you can freely travel there and you seem to spend most your time above ground then down here since you didn't know about this mob infested mineshaft."
'Your pushing it Bedrock.'
"I'm just saying." I raise my hands in defense.
I looked next to the map and see a mirror. I grab the mirror and aim it towards me. I could see Herobrine standing near behind me looking at the map.
I look back to the map and took it off the wall, folding it before stuffing it into my pocket.
"You know.. your rather suspicious you know that?"
I commented with narrowed eyes.
I could feel his presence form more intimidatingly behind me.
'And why is that?' He grumbles.
"Well for starters you said you have been trapped here for thousands of years."
'And?'
"I think it's rather odd that you had ALL that time here. Meeting unfortunate humans and forcing them to search for this stronghold that holds you in. And you 'didn't' know anything about these mines or the secondary house in the land..." I explained turning around.
'What are you trying to imply?' He says with a uprising tone of anger.
I stood up straight with crossed arms.
"I think your full of shit that's what I'm implying."
It was silent. The skeleton who had been standing quietly to the side seemed to try and give me a look of shock.
'I'm.. full of shit?.. IM. FULL OF SHIT? WHAT WOULD YOU KNOW ABOUT ME? IVE BEEN IMPRISONED HERE FOR THOUSANDS OF YEARS WITH LITTLE TO NO CONTACT AND YOU HAVE THE AUDACITY TO TELL ME IM FULL OF IT?'
"Because I know you are!"
I whisper shouted.
I turn my back and grab the hand mirror and face it towards me. I can see Herobrine standing a couple more feet back with a deeply angry expression in the reflection.
"If you never knew about this place. Then why would the previous humans here leave a hand mirror down here? If you weren't here?"
I stared at him directly into his eyes. His expression of anger softened slightly as he turned his head away.
'Because.' He says with a tone of defeat.
"Because what?" I replied.
He was quiet. But then answered.
'Because there's something else down here.'
(Hello :)
