"Dad please"

Eghe began, she couldn't believe her ears, after her tour and relating her findings to her father she couldn't believe what he instructed her to do.

"Dad please, do not take me to the kitchen department" she tried again.

"Eghe Briana Luckett, her father called amused "you can't start from the top, it should be from the bottom" her father explained. "you move from the bottom to the top and not the other way round, that's how it works in an ideal environment" her father finished trying to make her understand.

Eghe was refusing to understand, she didn't want anything that would bring her and Ikay together. she was happy when she and Mrs O'Brien had to leave the kitchen.

What was he doing in that kitchen, he looked so out of place.

"Eghe" her dad called bringing her back to the present. "your office has been set"

Eghe almost cried, she had to compose herself when she got an inquisitive look from her father.

He continued "you just have three weeks to spend in that department, I mean all departments, be familiar with the workings in all departments before joining me at the top" her father told her and was about to continue when his office phone rang

"One minute" her father said, indicating with his fingers

Eghe stared at her father from where though sad about the turn of events she sat admiring her father, she has always wanted to be like him. How would he handle such situation.

"Okay Katherina, I'm almost done here" Mr Mudiare Luckett told his secretary and hung up.

Her father stood up from his swivel chair and came to where she was sitting at the other side of his table.

"Welcome to our hotel and towers baby girl" he pulled her up and gave her a bear hug.

"Awww daddy" she did putting Ikay at the back of her mind as she hugged her father back.

"We are so proud of you. Your mom and I"

Eghe left his hold and stared at him.
"Dad you're always proud of me, you tell me that everyday"

"Yes" her father replied "I know, but I just want you to be reminded how proud we are of you everyday".

Eghe kissed his cheeks. "I need to go big man, your wife will be impatiently waiting for me" she told him leaving his embrace. She remembered her and her mom had grocery shopping appointment to keep and she needed to with her mom Now.

"I'm heading out for a meeting myself" he replied her.

Eghe picked up her bag that was resting on his large desk which was placed to intimidate. She hurriedly left her father's office.

Eghe was very close to her dad. She was more opened to him than her mom. She could tell him anything and he was always willing to listen to her, even if all she had to say were jargons. unlike her mom.

Her mom was so strict and firm, and she always complained on how her dad was spoiling her.

"Someone has to be the responsible parents" she always tells her husband, "both of us can't be spoon feeding her all the time"

Mrs Luckett never treated Eghe as an only child she disciplined when necessary and morals were instilled into her by her mom. All her dad did was show love love and care..

Mrs Luckett was waiting for Eghe in her office, they had grocery shopping to do together. She made it a duty for her and her daughter to go grocery shopping even with their house packed with maids.

The maids where to cook, clean the house and run petty errands. Sometimes Eghosa is asked by her mother to join the maids in the kitchen to prepare food for the house. This way her mother said she wanted her to learn how to cook.

Eghe's mom was her father's vice president, she oversees the financial aspect of his hotel, the itinerary planning, kitchen, décor, anything that has to do with feminine part. Her dad as the president was all about business, bringing in new contracts and trying to put his hotel on a world stage.

"Mom, I'm here" Eghe said storming into her mother's office.

"You were taking so long Eghosa" her mother said.

"I was with dad" she replied

"yes, gossiping as always"

Eghe rolled her eyes

"Don't roll your eyes at your mother" her mother told her sternly.

"the driver is waiting for you, take this" her mom pointed a list containing the grocery list to her.

Eghe took it and was waiting for her mom to stand. She stood waiting for her mom, they did grocery shopping together, she hopped it wasn't what she was thinking.

"what are you still waiting for" her mother asked you will be doing the grocery on your own from today. You should know your way around"

Eghe slumped into a chair close by. "Mama you know I hate grocery shopping" she said almost in tears.

"You're going to like it from today" Sarah Luckett replied going back to scribbling on her note pad. "Richard is waiting for you" she finished no longer looking at her daughter who looked defeated.

Eghe left her mother's office feeling sad, her day has been a roller coaster, from meeting Ikay, to her dad telling her she was going to be at the kitchen department for three weeks, to her mom dishing the final blow.

She went straight to the elevator, and straight down she went out of the Luckett hotels and found Richard waiting patiently for her, he opened the passenger side of her mother's BMW, she sat silently. Waiting for Richard to ask for direction.

"Vegetables market" she told Richard and the driver pulled out of the hotel lobby and off they went. This was her first time of going grocery shopping alone.
