CHAPTER 4OUR

IKAY's POV

I could swear with my father's business empire that this little miss sunshine never heard a word I said. She was smitten and it was written all over her face.

Now, let's talk about me.

I'm Ikay Oscar Omoruyi. I studied Pharmacy in the university and had a masters in Business Administration (MBA) just because my father wanted me to take over when grows old.

My father Oscar (Snr) Omoruyi owns the Oscars conglomerate. The Oscars conglomerate comprises of real estate, pharmaceutical, flour mill, car reassembly factory, construction company to name a few. my father also played local politics just so he could have monopoly over some of his business. Like his flour mill business, he had the sole responsibility of importing and exporting flour into the country.

My father was also into buying smaller failing companies, devouring them (that's what I call it) and building bigger ones with his construction company for bigger companies to bid for.

I on the other hand always wanted to be a chef. My maternal grandma was a chef. She taught me all the recipe I knew today, I developed others from watching YouTube and browsing through the internet. After I graduated from the uni I wanted to set up my own food business but my father wouldn't hear of it. Trash talking my business ideas.

During my interview at the luckett hotel and towers, Mr James Gonzalez an elderly Mexican man asked I and 15 others who were vying for that same position to impress him and other chefs who sat as panelist. One of grandma's recipe came through. I and two other person's were picked. Lilian and Rita.

Mr James Gonzalez personally choose Me, one of the panelist who later became a friend and co-chef in the lucketts hotel told me. He said my cooking reminded him of home.

My father wanted me to take over from him after I left school. At 23 I had my MBA, came out with flying colors. I worked with my father, let say a year, it was the most miserable times of my life. I always complained a lot to my mother, who was the reason behind me staying that long in my father's business.

I stood up one day, told my rich parents I was leaving to go pursue my dream of being a chef. My father went berserk.

The day I left, these were father's words.

"You want to leave all these to be a loser, a low-life chef"

That hurt me so bad but I replied "yes"

"Do not waste your life away boy" father said. "in a few years, you would be handling all these" he spreads his hands for effect

"you need to learn, you need to know how things are been done Ikay, do not walk out" he finished with an edge to his tone.

I stood looking at the man I admired for so long, why was he refusing to understand. This doesn't make me happy.

When my father saw I wasn't about to bulge in, he turned to my mother who stood quiet all through I and father's confrontation.

"Tell him.." father began, "tell him if he leaves he should never return and from today he cease to be my son"

Mother and I were so shocked. Father just disowned me. My father walked away without hearing from me, didn't want me to explain to him how shattering peoples business and life wasn't making me happy.

Mother began with her ever soft soothing voice "Do you really have to go"

"Yes momma" I replied coming closer to her, I placed my hands around her shoulders and kissed her cheeks fondly.

"I don't think I need all these anyways" I turned around and picked up my duffle bag laying on the floor.

"Tell Shirley I love her" I told my crying mom as I walked away.

My little sister Shirley was in a boarding school. I felt bad for leaving her, she would come home to just mom and dad, I hope she understands. I loved my family but I need to go find happiness and would only return in times of emergency.

My father was bad energy and I needed him far away. For now

...Back to present day.......

Miss sunshine was kind of glowing, I immediately knew what went down in that hidden place under her long Slitted skirt.

Her words weren't coherent, she didn't have any questions for me, and it was weird even the most experience of chefs who go round for tours always had questions at the end of a tour.

"That would be it" Mrs O'Brien informed us.

"Miss Eghosa Luckett will be resuming with us tomorrow_ Let's do well to make her stay here nice" the elderly woman said smiling at all.

Nice I told myself.

My gaze never leaving her, this time she was avoiding my gaze. I chuckled to myself.
