Chapter 4

*Daryl's POV*

"What the hell is wrong with you?!" I yelled quietly.

Skylar went and almost got herself killed. I woke up and she was gone so I started tracking. Then when I heard her ear piercing scream that's when I took off running panic shooting through my body. I had to admit it but I scared me when I seen that walker on top of her.

"Ow!" She yanked her arm out of my grip and glared. "I was handling it Daryl" She told me.

I grunted and slung my crossbow grabbing the arrow I shot pulling it from the walkers head.

"Oh really? If I hadn't showed up you'd be dead Skylar"  This girl was crazy.

"I could've saved myself"

"With no knife or gun?"

I took Skylar by the arm again and started bringing her back to camp with me. From now on she wasn't leaving the farm or my sight.

*Skylar's POV*

I was walking with Daryl he had finally let go of my arm knowing I'd follow. He hadn't said a word to me, why would he?  He's mad I honestly thought about leaving the group, not because of Daryl but so I wasn't a burden.

"What you did was very stupid, you could've died. You got a death wish or something?" He  asked me.

"I'm sorry okay, just shut up about it"

My head was down and Daryl stopped causing me to bump into him.  His expression was angry

"What did you say?"

"You heard me, shut up."

I shoved him out of  my way and kept walking. I heard his footsteps move fast and once again he yanked my arm.

"No one talks to me like that" He growled at me.

I narrowed my eyes at him looking at his blue eyes, I stretched up to my full height of five feet three inches.

"Obviously someone should."

I wasn't dealing with his attitude. It was time I stood up to him he wasn't going to speak to me like that.

"What is your problem girl?"

"Right now you!"

Daryl glared at me and took a step towards me but I stood my ground. He stood several inches taller than me but I didn't care.

"I'm your problem?" His voice was low and soft.

Suddenly my mouth went dry but I managed to say,

"Yes."

Daryl took a deep breath but he didn't move away from me. No one said anything for a little while.

"Well you're my responsibility Skylar. I watch over you. And you aren't leaving this farm or my sight."

*Daryl's POV*

I layed on my cot looking at the top of my tent again. I didn't know if  Skylar was asleep because her back was to me and she was covered up.  My mind went to our encounter in the pasture. Skylar had given me attitude no other woman had done that before. And I mentally kicked my ass, we were so close I almost kissed her. I wanted to but I didn't. It also would've been the first time I kissed someone and actually meant it. Skylar probably had no idea I cared for her.  Ugh! I cared I never cared about anyone. I was a Dixon, Dixon's didn't care about anyone or anything.  But it was something about Skylar. I would always protect her nothing was going to touch her.

When I woke up the sun was shining in my tent I turned and seen that Skylar was gone. I got up grabbing my crossbow,

"Shit."

As I emerged I was greeted by everyone besides the only face I wanted to see. Looking everywhere I couldn't find Skylar, panic came shooting through me. Where the hell was she?! If she ran off and got killed  I'd never forgive myself.  I found Rick talking to Hershel instantly I walked up not caring if I delayed their conversation.

"Rick" He turned and he and Hershel both looked at me.

"Just a minute Daryl."

"No, where's Skylar?"  I asked not willing to wait  Rick ran a hand across his face.

"I'm not sure"

"WHAT?!"

My anger was now seething. If Skylar was dead I was going to raise hell, so to speak.

"Do you mean the girl with black hair?" Hershel asked.

Instantly my gaze flickered to his.

"Yes"

"I seen her in the pastures not to long ago." With that I instantly went to find her.
