6 months later

*Skylar's POV*

We had been on the road for months through the winter. Rick and Daryl had gone hunting and I stood on watch with Carl and Beth. Rick now knew of Lori's pregnancy I convinced her to tell him. And when she did Rick was concerned about her safety but he barely spoke to her. Even Carl shut her out. I stood next to Carl,

"You alright?" I asked.

"I'm fine,  just tired"

"Pretty sure I speak for all of us when I say we're all tired."

Carl had grown up really fast over the time I've known him. Now he was twelve years old. He was nice to everyone and got along very well with me. We were talking when Daryl and Rick came walking back. Daryl kissed me and everyone got in their cars and I got on the back of Daryl's motorcycle and we left.

We ended up at a prison that Rick and Daryl found hunting. We cut a whole in the fence and were able to get inside.  We got to the gate. Walkers filled the courtyard,

"It's perfect. We can shut that gate,  prevent more from filling the yard.  We can take out these walkers we'll take the field by tonight" Rick told us.

I looked out into the field,  it looked possible.

"How do we shut the gate?" Hershel asked.

"I'll go you guys cover me" Glenn said.

Maggie shook her head.

"No suicide run"

I bit my lip.

"Rick I'll do it, I'm the fastest" I told him.

Daryl yanked my arm back.

"No way in hell you're going" he told me glaring.

"I'm going"

"No Daryl you and Carol go on the guard tower. Maggie, Glenn,  Beth draw as many as you can over there. Pop em through the fence. Lori you too. Hershel,  Carl up in this tower."

Rick instructed and everyone went to their posts. Rick looked at me,

"Just go don't stop for anything you hear me?"

I nodded and Rick opened the gate and I took off running. I heard Daryl screaming he was going to kill Rick. Gunshots rang and a walker stepped in my path and was taken down by an arrow. Nice shit Daryl! I glanced back but then kept going and I closed the gate and ran to the guard tower going in closing the door. I did it.

*Daryl's POV*

I stood on watch on top of the overturned bus by the gate.  It made me so mad that Skylar pulled that stunt or that Rick let her. At least  she did it without getting hurt. That was good but I was still mad. That's when I heard struggling and seen Skylar with a plate of food I took her hand and helped her up with me. She handed me a plate and smiled,

"You didn't eat so here you go" she told me.

I took the plate but didn't say anything I just grunted.

"Daryl I'm sorry look I wanted to help"

That's when I looked at her.

"You could've gotten killed" I told her.

"Well with your great shooting I know I'd be safe"

She smiled and I shook my head.

"How can you make jokes?"

"Because Daryl I'm alive. Standing here right in front of you."

I put down the plate and put my hands on her shoulders.

"I know and I want to keep it that way Skylar"

I leaned in and kissed her passionately.

*Rick's POV*

I walked around the fences for the third time making sure no part of the fence was messed up and I finally decided it was good and went down to everyone who was sitting around the fire. Except for Skylar who stood next to Daryl. She looked lost in thought her black hair cascaded over her shoulders. Lori offered me food and I ate some handing it back to her.

"Skylar you okay?" I asked.

She looked up at the mention of her name.

"Yeah I'm fine."

I started to tell everyone we needed to push in. Get into the prison I was going to take a group in the morning and we were going to clear out a cell block.  I was going to keep everyone safe. I walked away and Lori followed me.

"Rick" she whispered.

I turned to face her.

"I appreciate what you're doing and we all do but it's been a death march and they're exhausted. Can we just enjoy this for a few days?" She asked.

"Baby will be here in a few days.  No time for a picnic"

"No it's time to get the house in order."

It was so cold I could I see her breath when she spoke.

"What do you think I'm doing?"

"Your absolute best" she said.

I leaned close to her.

"Don't patronize me"

I walked away. And Lori walked after me,

"I'm not I'm just saying the baby is about to be here and we have to talk about-"

"Talk about what?" I asked glaring interrupting her.

She gave me that innocent look and sighed.

"Things we've been avoiding the most-"

"You want to talk, talk to Hershel.  I'm doing stuff Lori, things isn't that enough?"

I walked away from her.

*Skylar's POV*

I couldn't  sleep so I decided to take a  walk around the fences. I sighed,  I loved everyone in my group they were like my family. But I was missing a few people from my family. I sighed maybe if I wasn't so damn stupid Kaiden and Andy would be here today.  I even missed my parents even though they got on my nerves.  I walked the perimeter again and began. To sing quietly to myself. Pushing my tears away I heard something approaching and I quickly grabbed my knife and turned swinging and a hand grabbed my wrist.  I calmed down when  I seen Daryl he took .y knife and put it back. 

"Damn Daryl I could've killed you" I told him.

"Doubtful"  he chuckled.

Taking my hand we walked. He gave me butterflies every time he touched me.

"You sing pretty you know that?" He asked.

I chuckled,

"I don't think so but thank you."

I just kept walking with my head down.

"So you going to  tell me what's bothering you?" Daryl asked stopping. 

That caught me off guard. Didn't see that one coming.

"What?"

'Skylar don't play dumb I know something is wrong. I seen the look on your  face when Rick asked if you were alright."

I turned back to him and sighed.

"Nothing I just I love you guys. I love this group I do. I just miss my family too I've been thinking"

Daryl stepped closer.

"About what?"

"How different things would be. Maybe now I hadn't been so stupid leading Kaiden out of Atlanta the way I did. He'd be alive,  and Andy I should've never let him go alone. If I wasn't so dumb they'd be alive and they could be here with us."

I started to cry a bit. Daryl hugged me,

"You can't think like that baby. You thought at that time it was the right decision"

I settled into his embrace.

"I just wish I could've done things differently."

Daryl took my hand, and put his forhead on mine. He kissed me softly.

"Come with me" he led us to the guard tower.

Well we figure out that Skylar is missing her family. Sorry this was kind of short I'll update more I promise.
