CHAPTER 26:- Dreams

Taehyung's eyes moved rapidly in his sleep, he had been tossing and turning all night. Ever since the night Y/N had slain that beast he hadn't gotten a good night's sleep. He was constantly dreaming of the same recurring memory. The only odd thing was, the memory wasn't his, it was so distant like someone had plugged his brain into a computer and downloaded a few memories and then stored it in the back in hopes that he wouldn't find it. He didn't bother telling anyone since he couldn't even explain it.

He panted, exhausted from the disturbing pictures replaying over and over in his head. His hair matted to his forehead from the sweat as he pushed the covers off of him trying to cool himself down. He winced multiple times almost as if he was trying to close his eyes in his dreams.

Taehyung  woke up with an anguished cry, sitting up straight with his hands grasping his head so tight. His eyes searched the room rapidly, confused with his surroundings. It was getting progressively difficult for him to make out the difference between reality and his dreams.

Taehyung grabbed his pillow and held it close. Scared that whatever was keeping him grounded would disappear. It was becoming more of a frequent occurrence. The sudden blackouts, dreams that felt so real he was constantly questioning reality, dreams that held him captive in his own mind. He struggled with going to sleep since he was too afraid that he wouldn't be able to leave that horrible place he once called peaceful.

There would be instances where he'd be brushing his teeth, be it night or even morning, in front of the mirror and the next second he'd find himself sprawled on the bathroom floor, toothbrush scattered somewhere random.

But the worst of all would be the constant voices in his head. It started off as a mild headache but gradually the state worsened. He'd seen a few shrinks and all of them said the same exact thing. He was apparently still shocked from that whole attack and that it was pretty common to experience sleepless nights, hallucinations and unfamiliar voices in his head. But Taehyung had a totally different opinion, this wasn't just some normal and healthy reaction to a traumatic experience. He could feel it...deep inside. It wasn't at all normal or healthy for fuck's sake.

The prescribed sleeping pills worked jackshit on him and he had given up using them a long time ago. Sleeping wasn't the problem, waking up was. The only way he was ever able to get a good night's rest was being in Jimin's presence. The pinkette knew of the absolute torture the boy went through and didn't think twice before agreeing to do whatever it took to make life easier for him.

His mere presence had a calming effect on him. Like a drug it was addictive to the point where Jimin was constantly in his room. Taehyung was so addicted to the thought of sleep he couldn't even doze off without having the older boy in the room with him. It was as if the pinkette drove the frightening dreams and voices away whenever he was around and Taehyung was ever so grateful.

Of course Jimin didn't mind, he loved taking care of Taehyung. But Seokjin had put a stop to it before it could get any worse when he noticed Jimin starting to look sleep deprived like Taehyung on a good day. Forcing him to take a break for the night, Seokjin took his place in turn and decided to care for the boy that night.

Speaking of the oldest, the door creaking open and spilling light into the room made the brunette jerk slightly from the sudden noise.

"Tae?" the blinding light bathed the room in a cold grey. Seokjin rubbed his eyes and shut the door hurriedly before making his way over towards the frightened boy on the bed. He sat beside him and checked his temperature by cupping his face with both of his hands.

"Bad dreams again?" he asked, Taehyung's cheeks were pillow soft against his skin but it wasn't enough to fool Seokjin. He frowned in the dark when he felt Taehyung's temperature dropping slowly despite being in the oven-like room.

Taehyung nodded hesitantly, leaning in to rest his head on the older boy's broad shoulder. Seokjin wrapped his arms around him disregarding the feeling of being cooked alive. He needed to warm the boy up, that was what mattered most. His heart ached to see someone he cared for feel so weak. The once energetic and loud boy wasn't the same as he was before and he was only getting worse.

"Tae, love why don't you lie back down while I go whip up some of that hot chocolate you like so much. And then you can tell me what you saw yeah?"

Taehyung simply nodded again too tired to think straight. His mind was just clouded with one all too familiar word. Seokjin picked up the cover Tae had kicked off and wrapped him up before getting up to leave for the kitchen. He paused when Tae's weak voice called out for him. He turned around, hand around the doorknob as he awaited what the boy had to say.

"Yoong..I dreamt of Yoongi hyung.."

Seokjin's smile dropped as quick as his grip loosened on the knob.

"Yoongi? What about Yoongi?..." Seokjin's tone seemed to give it all away. Taehyung's suspicions were confirmed. Seokjin knew something he didn't and he was going to find out what it was.

----------------

The Min family drove down the road, listening to the radio as they sat in silence enjoying the peaceful atmosphere. The family were on their way back from a trip and were eager to get back home. With the rain pelting the tarmac of the road, the car drove without a disturbance. Mr. Min leaned forward, struggling to see the road ahead of him because of the thick fog that had appeared out of nowhere. Geum-Jae, Yoongi's brother was asleep, leaning on his shoulder enjoying the chilly temperature that surrounded them.

All of a sudden, Yoongi's mother shrieked at his father, making him swerve violently to the right. The rubber tires were deemed useless against the ice-like road as it flipped the vehicle from the sudden turn.

It was like time itself slowed, Yoongi's eyes widened, watching the way his mother's expression turned from fear to a pale look of horror. His eyes found themselves focusing on his brother who had woken up from his sleep and was in the middle of figuring out what was happening. Their arms were in the air flailing slowly, desperately trying to grab something to hold on to. And almost instantly time returned to its original speed and the entire family was thrashed around violently inside the car like ragdolls.

Yoongi weakly willed his eyes open slightly. He could feel a warm sensation spreading down his arms and slightly caressing his fingertips before dropping onto the roof of the car. He couldn't feel his shoulder but then again he couldn't feel anything at that point. He looked up, craning his neck and noticed how a pool of thick red liquid had formed above his head. Small ripples formed from the constant droplets he could feel leaving his fingers. His attention was drawn away when he heard enraged grunts coming from the front of the car. He could see his father struggling against his seatbelt, his hair pointing upwards in an odd manner.

That was when the boy realized that they were actually hung upside down in the car. His mother was unconscious, still strapped to her seat with her arms resting limply on the roof of the car. Yoongi's bruised neck somehow strained to search for his brother and he almost wished he had stayed put. Blood trickled down the side of the older boy's head and disappeared into the black locks of his hair.

Yoongi could see black spots starting to form all around him, clouding his vision. Slowly, he felt himself losing consciousness again. His father managed to finally cut through the cloth holding him and ended up crashing towards the hood of the car. He wasted no time in turning around and shoving the car door open, hissing as the pain from his shoulder bloomed across the length of his hand. Gripping it tight he hurriedly limped around the car to open the passenger door. His shirt was completely drenched from the rain and his own blood but he paid no attention to his discomfort and yanked at the handle to the door.

But it seemed that the lock was crushed completely, panicking at the time he was losing he screamed angrily and the door burst open. The metal flew across the road, clanging loudly as it fell. He reached inside and ripped the seat belt off of his wife and dragged her out hurriedly. He laid her down gently on the wet ground before reaching in again and pulling both Yoongi and Geum-Jae out. He moved the hair sticking to his wife's face, checking her pulse as he cradled her head, whimpering slightly when he felt how weak her heart was beating. When he heard Yoongi's low groan his heart skipped a beat. Gently, he laid his wife's head back down and scrambled closer to his son.

"Yoongi! YOONGI! Can you hear me boy?? Focus on my voice, my love!" but to no avail, Yoongi was too disorientated to perceive what his father was saying. Everything around him was spinning too fast for him to keep up. The raindrops pattering against his chest, however, kept him from going under again. He could still feel what was happening around him but it was a very near numb sensation.

"Yoongi! Geum-Jae isn't breathing, you have to stay with me!-" a loud malevolent snarl behind Yoongi's father made him snap up to look.

"How...how did it find us?.." he was at a loss for words but at the same time it looked like he already knew. His face remained grim as he stared off into the fog. He looked back down and his expression softened almost immediately, he whispered something that was lost in the noise of a booming clap of thunder above them before he leaned down to kiss Yoongi's forehead slowly.

Yoongi laid still on the floor, the pain too severe to even manage a sob. As dazed as he was he was still able to understand what was happening. Tears pooled in his eyes as they ran down the sides of his face mixing up with the rain. Using the very last bit of strength he was able to conjure up he willed his fingers to reach out for his father's shirt as the last attempt to make him stay. Extreme pain shot up and down his arm but he couldn't care any less, his attention was focused on his father.

Mr. Min looked back down at his son desperately holding onto his shirt, blood staining the side of his face as his lips quivered from the rain. His eyes were bloodshot from crying but he wasn't going to let go anytime soon. Mr. Min smiled sadly at Yoongi and gently removed his hand much to his voiced disapproval. Yoongi's anguished cry made Mr. Min's heart ache but he stood up nonetheless, staggering to the side slightly before trudging forwards. He walked around the car and looked back towards his idle family laying very close to death's door before whispering one last time...

"Be safe..."

His hands twitched making the car creak and groan loudly. Something was in the fog before him. A human wouldn't have noticed but as one of the chosen ones he felt there was something deadly hunting him and Yoongi. And Yoongi being the only other carrier in the family whatever it was...it was hunting him too and he was not going to let anything near his family, over his dead body....

--------

"That isnt possible..." Seokjin looked toward Taehyung with an expression of disbelief.

"What's not possible?" Taehyung's hoarse voice strained as he asked, slowly feeling irritated that the older wasn't saying anything.

"No one outside knows about it other than him and the few hes told...so how is it that you're seeing that in your dreams? Its not even a vague description Tae...you literally relived a memory that isnt yours...how is that even possible? Who told you? Was it Namjoon? Hoseok?"

"Hyung how many people even know about this? Who else knows what I dont?" Taehyung's voice rose a few octaves higher, a clear sign that he was annoyed.

"Calm down Tae...answer my question first..." Seokjin's voice remained stern and firm, no matter how weak Taehyung was he didn't need to lose his temper. If he did, then his state would definitely worsen and Seokjin was sure as hell that he didn't want that.

"No, no one told me anything. I've been seeing this same memory for that past month and It's so heartbreaking hyung...I'm afraid to go back to sleep because I'm scared I'll have to relive it again... I've been randomly blacking out too and I wake up with a new memory each time...I'm tired hyung...I just want to rest but i can't.." tears pooled in Taehyung's eyes, the built up frustration over the past month weighing down on him heavily as he broke down.

"More memories?" Seokjin questioned, letting go of the door and sitting down next to the crying boy, hugging him as he stroked his back. Taehyung nodded into Seokjin's shoulder as he sobbed.

"Its okay Tae...c'mon lets lie down.." knowing that there was nothing he could do for the exhausted boy besides giving him a good night's rest, he raised the cover over the two of them and ran his fingers gently through Taehyung's hair lulling him to sleep. He had noticed that whenever Taehyung was with someone when he was drifting off to sleep he slept peacefully till dawn without a hitch. Hoping his observation would work he felt himself starting to close his own eyes. Their conversation replayed itself in his mind as he dozed off, no matter how much he thought about it he couldn't wrap his head around the fact that Taehyung was slowly starting to relive or rather see his bandmate's buried memories. That thought alone scared him but he would let the next day's Seokjin deal with it.
