Zane Is Now A What?

It was another day, and I was spending time with my cousin and his girlfriend/possibly cousin-in-law in the future.

Right now, Aphmau is organizing the last bit of things on the first floor. She sighed. "Well, it's finally starting to look like home. Just a little more work down here and then I can get started on the Bedroom. Do you want to help, Y/n?" She asked. "Sure." I said from the dinner table. That's when the doorbell rang. "Huh? Who could that be? Coming!" Aphmau asked before walking over to the front door, and I followed behind.

She opened the door and there stood a woman in a business suit, dark brown hair with bleached tips, a tan complexion, and gold eyes; Not only that but she also has a gift basket in her hand. "M-Mellisa?!" Aphmau stuttered in shock. "Ah. Good morning, Aphmau." Mellisa said. "Huh? What are you doing here?" Aphmau asked. "Zianna mentioned you moved into a new place. When I found out you were moving in with Aaron, I thought I should stop by and see how you're both doing." Millisa said, letting herself in and started exploring the house. "How did Zianna know we...? Garroth." Aphmau said, grumbling the last part under her breath.

Meanwhile...

"So, you must be Y/n. I heard a lot about you from Trinity; it's nice that she doesn't have to live alone anymore. And I guess you know of our family secret?" She asked in a monotone voice. "Yes. And I suspect you know of mine?" I asked, returning the same tone. "Yes. Does Aaron know yet?" She asked. "No, not yet. But soon." I replied. "Good." She said before looking around.

"It looks... Nice. It definitely has character..." She said. "Eheh, thanks! Hehe, yeah, Aaron n' I went shopping at IKEA a couple of days ago." Aphmau informed. "I-KEA?" Mellisa repeated in a confused tone, like that was a new word being mentioned to her.

Aphmau nodded. "Mm-hmm. It's a huge furniture store that's really big, and it's easy to get lost in if you aren't careful." Aph added. "Yes... Well, I came to give you a housewarming present. Here, A gift basket." Mellisa said, holding it out in front of her and passed it on to Aphmau. "Wow, Mellisa, thank you so much! Man, I love strawberries!" Aphmau squealed.

"I figured... They're always a sweet girl's favorite." Mellisa said. Aphmau giggled at the compliment. "Aww, that's, uh- *Clears throat* I-I mean, thank you very much." She said, before looking into the gift basket more and discovered something. "HOOOOOO, IS THIS A SMALL CHEESECAKE IN HERE?! This is the best gift EVER!!" Aphmau squealed loudly.

Mellisa chuckled softly. "It was Aaron's favorite growing up. I thought you might like it too. Speaking of who, is Aaron here? And is Trinity?" Mellisa asked. "Mom went somewhere to finalize this thing to completely and finally claim our house as ours." I informed. "Uh, no. He's at work right now." Aphmau informed as well. "That's alright. Actually, I'm kinda glad they aren't here. I wanted to get to know you both a little; just the three of us. You are now a part of this family, Y/n, and you are dating my brother after all, Aphmau. And I hardly know a thing about you two." Melissa said.

"U-Us?" Aphmau stuttered. "Yes, you. My brother and aunt are something of an oddity, trust me. I did grow up with them. The brother I remember didn't like anyone or anything. Well, except for you. You're the only person I've seen that's ever gotten close to him, and I'm his sister. And my aunt has been distant, cold, and quiet when it comes to people who are not family or business. To see her suddenly raising a child is... kind of a surprise, especially this happy. From what I've heard, she hasn't been like that since her childhood." Mellisa stated. "W-Well, I'm not that special. Really, heh. Really. Really." Aphmau said. 'Just take the compliment, fleshie' I thought to myself, rolling my eyes. "You're too modest. I like you Aphmau." She chuckled.

"Well, I really should be going." Mellisa said. "Really? Um, A-Aaron should be back in the next hour or so, so you can wait here if you want to say hi, and I really don't really know when Trinity is coming back. And maybe if you stayed, you'd wanna help me move a couch upstairs?" Aphmau requested.

"Then what the crap am I doing here?" I asked. "Huh? But... you didn't help." She said, turning to me. "Yeah, because you didn't ask for my help." I stated. "Oh... right..." She muttered, probably scolding herself in her head.

"I really should be going. I have a few meetings to attend to. By the way, our mother sends her thanks to you as well. She's happy Aarons found someone who he who can be with. We were all worried he'd be alone." Mellisa added. "His mother?" Aphmau quietly asked, her face turning red.

"Now I'll take my leave. If you're ever up for it, we should get coffee sometime? Cya." Mellisa suggested as she walked towards the door. "Yeah, I'd like that! U-Uh, Cya!" Aphmau said.

Mellisa opened the door and walked out; Aphmau followed behind to wave goodbye to her and Mellisa continued on her way.

Aphmau closed the door, turning her back to it. "Alright! Now, where was I?" Aphmau asked aloud. "Moving furniture. We can start on the bedroom." I suggested. She sighed. "This got a lot harder than I was hoping." She mutters. She cleared her throat. "YEP! Gotta stay productive. After all I've got a lot of work to do! I'm glad you're helping me." She said.

That's when the doorbell rang. "Helloo? Aphmau?" A female voice called out from beyond the door. "Oh, thank Irene, a distraction." Aphmau groaned happily. I just gave her a confused look. She opened the door to reveal a woman with bright, orange hair and scarlet eyes wearing a light purple sweater, black pants and shoes with purple laces. I like her; she's pretty.

"Oh, Lucinda! Oh, you have no idea how happy I am to see you." Aphmau said. Lucinda chuckled in response. "It's good to see you, too." She said in a calm, sultry tone; she even sounds pretty. "Hey, what are you doing up right now? I thought you said you were a night owl?" Aph asked in a teasing tone. "What are you doing out here with us day walkers, ahahaha?" Aphmau exaggerated in a stereotypical Dracula voice, ending it with a slow, evil laugh.

"Actually, I came looking for some help. Are you, and your little helper, busy at the moment?" She asked. "Me, well, ppft n-no! No, no I'm not busy. It's not like we just moved into the neighborhood or anything." Aphmau said, ending it with nervous giggling. "But joking aside, I'm always free for you." Aphmau said. I cleared my throat pipes, regaining my composure. "If it helps, I'm free! I'm Y/n!" I said. "Ohhh, thanks Aphmau and Y/n, I knew I could count on you." She said.

"Of course! Whatever it is, name it!" Aphmau stated. "W-What she said." I stammered. "Can you help me move in?" She asked. "Seriously?" Aph questioned with an expression that makes her look like that one character from a video game I saw. What was it again? Lundergale? ...No, that doesn't sound right. "Whaat, you said whatever it is" Lucinda reminded.

"You know, I have moving to do, too." Aphmau said. "Yeah, but you have Aaron who's a hunk with muscles." Lucinda stated. "Yeah." Aphmau chuckled. "Ew." I said. "U-Eh, but... YOU have cool magics! Can't you summon some, like, cats who can help you move into your house?" Aphmau questioned. "Magic?!" I repeated, flabbergasted. "That's so cool!" I exclaimed, stars showing in my eyes in excitement.

Lucinda scoffs. "Magic doesn't work that way girl." She stated. Aphmau blew a raspberry. "Alright, fine. I guess you are living on your own. We can definitely help you out." Aphmau said. "Oh, thank Irene! I know you're busy, I really didn't want to borther you, but I couldn't really find anyone else to help me." Lucinda explained. "None of the guys were around?" Aphmau questioned. "Nope, I couldn't find any of them." Lucinda said.

With the Guys

Travis and Dante were peeking from their window, seeming to be nervous. "Is Lucinda gone?" Dante asked, his voice slightly shaking. "QUIET! Do you wanna get roped into doing more work?!" Travis questioned in a hushed voice. That's when Travis got a notification from his dating simulator. "Ooh! Another text from Jahi!" He quietly squealed.

Back To You

"The work I have isn't that bad, I promise." Lucinda said. "of course, we'll help you move Lucinda! What kind of friend would I be if I didn't help?" Aph rhetorically asked. "And don't feel like you have to pay me anything. Buuuut, if you wanted to give me any..." Aphmau started. "I'm not gonna give you any Cat Potions, Aphmau." Lucinda deadpanned. "And-And, you don't have to pay me, as long as you teach me magic!" I bargained, moving in front of Aphmau. "Okay then, deal." She said. "Yes!" I squealed, punching my fist up in the air.

"But I want to talk to my aminals!" Aphmau cried. She groaned. "Fine. Let's go." Aph reluctantly said. "Great! But, before we go, do you know if there's anyone else that might be able to help?" Lucinda asked. Aphmau hummed in thought. "As a matter of fact, I do have someone in mind." She said.

"Why am I here again?" Zane asked. Aphmau giggled. "Because I'm your best friend, right?" She reminded. "You are, Lucinda isn't." Zane stated. "Yeeeees, but Lucinda's my friend. Plus... Do you wanna stay at home with Laurence and Garroth?" Aphmau questioned. Zane growled. "Point taken." He grumbled. Aphmau burst in a giggly fit. "Thanks for coming to help." Aph said.

"Why didn't you just get Aaron to do it?" Zane questioned in an annoyed tone. "Uh, he's at his job. Y'know, the thing you need to get." Aphmau smugly replied. "Ohhh! She got you good." I exclaimed with laughter. "I don't wanna be an adult today." Zane murmured. "Okay, Zane. Well, we'll get you some cupcakes when we're done helping Lucinda." Aphmau said in a baby voice. "Mmmm, promise?" Zane questioned. "Promise!"

Lucinda walked in and stood next to Aph. "Thank you three for helping out, I have to say..." Lucinda said. "Of course, Lucinda!" I exclaimed with a proud smile. "Glad we could help!" Aphmau added. "We?" Zane questioned. "YES, ZANE! 'We'." Aph stated, gritting through her teeth at the beginning. "Just double checking." Zane clarified.

Aphmau cleared her throat. "So, Lucinda, ...what do you need us to do?" Aph asked. "Let's start by taking these boxes upstairs." Lucinda started.

(Time-skip)

"Thanks again for all your help, Aphmau. This would have taken forever if I had to do it alone." Lucinda said. "No problem! These boxes are actually quite light." Aphmau said as I walked in the room, putting down two boxes. "I can agree. What are even in these anyway?" I asked.

"Yeah, all that's left is that stack of boxes in the living room. Did you really have to stack it so high?!" Zane asked as he entered the room. "Y'now, I didn't expect you to be here Zane." Lucinda said. "I didn't either, and if it weren't for Aphmau, I wouldn't be." Zane clarified. "Well... Thank you anyway." Lucinda said. "Uh... you're welcome, I suppose?" Zane said in a confused tone.

"I'm gonna start bringing that last stack up." Zane said, turning around to head out. "Be careful! Those have some of my potions and spells in them; they are fragile." Lucinda warned. Zane only hmphed in reply as he walked out. "I'll start opening the boxes for you, so you don't have to spend a long time getting them to open." I said. "Knock yourself out, kiddo." Lucinda said. I picked up a boxcutter and got to work, listening in on their conversation.

"Wow, you've been a real positive influence on him." Lucinda said. "You think so?" Aph questioned. "I do, he's hardly the Zane I remember. He's actually talking to me." Lucinda stated.

That's when there was a sound of glass shattering, falling objects, crashing, and ended with the sound of Zane screaming. "Zane!" Aphmau called out in worry, running out of the room with Lucinda following behind. I retracted the blade of the boxcutter, set it down on one of the boxes and ran after them.

We ran down the stairs, now in the living room. "Zane, are you alright?" Aphmau asked. "Yeah, I'm fine, I just fell getting one of these dumb boxes down." Zane said in a completely different voice, one that was higher pitched. Not only that, but he was smaller, and wearing a very light shade of blue of clothing and didn't have his mask.

What in the pit is he?

"U-Uhhhhh, Z-Z-Z-Z-Zane..." Aphmau stuttered, almost like she was trying to hold back something. "What?" Zane questioned in an annoyed tone. "Y-Y... Y... Y-Y-Y-Your... YOU'RE ADORABLE!!" Aphmau squealed with excitement. It was so high of a pitch, it felt like my audio receptors were going to malfunction, making me wince in slight pain. "A-Aphmau, you think- Wait... Why are you all the way up there, and I..." Zane started, before looking down at himself, now realizing the predicament he's in. "Oh, no... I'M A BABY!!!" Zane yelled in shock.

A baby? What is that? A... A human term for sparkling? I thought to myself. Lucinda was laughing at his misfortune as Aphmau continued to squeal, fangirling at his sudden appearance, meanwhile I still had a confused expression as we all came closer. "Ohh, man! I shouldn't have any baby potions in any of these boxes." Lucinda said to herself.

She then kneeled down to his height. "Zane, which potion was the one that fell on you?" She asked. Zane started off with a sarcastic voice, "Oh, I don't know, ALL OF THEM!!" He exclaimed. Lucinda started to quietly think to herself, evaluating the situation. "Okay, that hasn't happened before..." Was the only auditable thing that came out of her mouth, even Zane heard it. "EXCUSE ME?!!!" He yelled.

A dry, nervous chuckle escaped her lips. "I mean, this should have been impossible..." Lucinda said. "It must have happened as a bizarre reaction when all the potions collided, causing a – in scientific terms – a chemical reaction and Zane just happened to be in the crossfire as they collided. Ergo, he is now suffering from the side effects of the mixture of the potions." I said, walking over and picked up Baby Zane, sitting him on my hip.

"BUT you've got a potion to fix all this, don't you?" Aphmau asked. "Ummmm... well, no. Potions that deal with aging are incredibly difficult to make and are very rare." Lucinda explained. "WHAT?!!" Zane exclaimed in shock; I can just feel that I almost lost hearing in that ear. "But, uh, my mother knows. I'll just go and see if she knows anything about how we can reverse this." Lucinda said.

"Aphmau, can you take care of Zane while I'm gone?" Lucinda requested, turning to the short lady. I can see stars appear in her eyes as they swell up with tears. "This... is everything I've ever wanted in our friendship Zane! BABY ZANE!" Aphmau squealed. "...You hoped that this would happen one day?" I questioned in confusion. Is every human female like this with their best friends?

"Oh, Irene, WHY?!" Zane exclaimed. "Y/n, you're coming with me." Lucinda stated. "Uh, why?" I asked. "Well, you want to learn magic, don't you. Why not get started like this?" Lucinda questioned. "I guess you're right. I do like research." I said, setting Baby Zane on the floor and followed Lucinda out.

(Time-skip)

After spending almost half the day at her Carrier's- I mean, mother's house, we finally found the ingredients to make a potion to reverse the effects on Zane. We walked down the street on the sidewalk, and it was almost dusk. "Well, even though the day started not how I would start it to be, now becoming your apprentice to learn magic and potions, I really had a good time." I said. "Yeah, you were on your best behavior. I was kinda expecting you to act like... wild, energetic, pretty much like a normal kid." Lucinda said.

"Well, I am not a normal child." I said proudly, I really hope I'm being vague. She chuckled. "Well, I can see that. And then again, that explains your field of energy." She said, making me freeze. "My... what?" I questioned. "You're field of energy. It's complete different to Meif'wa's, Werewolves, and humans. You're not who you are. Or what you are." She stated.

"I'm surprised you figured it out." I said before sighing. "But, yes, I'm not a human. I'm from another planet. But that's what I'm telling you so far. Even though, you are now my teacher, it doesn't mean I'll tell you everything about myself. The only one who knows is the person taking care of me." I said. "Fair enough. I wasn't expecting you to tell me anyways. I promise to keep your secret; no exchanges or favors in return." She said.

"Thanks. Anyways, I have to get home. See ya next time, Lucinda." I said, waving at her as I walked further down the sidewalk and to the yard of the house to the left of Aphmau and Aaron's place.
