METTATON'S POV
" . . . —And therefore, you will soon have to find a wife." Undyne (Alphyne, yes?) explains. She was telling me about the Royal Ball that was coming up. I was going to search for the perfect princess to become my wife. The only problem was, all of them were too vain, and that probably sounds weird coming from a robot like me. But it's true, I want someone who shares some of the same interests, someone kind, you know? Not just anybody.
"Yeah yeah yeah. I've got it." I say, not caring. Sighing, I stand up from my throne.
"I'm going to go hunting with the guys." I tell them. I need something to get this off my mind.
"B-be c-c-careful Metta!" Alphys reminds me. I grunt. Not exactly in the mood to talk, especially when a conversation about the ball or a potential queen comes up.

Me and some of the Royal Guard rode around the forest in search of a stag. We were on some of the best horses in the kingdom, and we seemed to be getting nowhere.
"PRINCE LOOK!" Papyrus, the head of the Royal Guard, says as quietly as he can. I'm surprised the stag didn't hear him, that guy is so loud. The others ran after the animal, but something out of the corner of my eye caught my attention. Curiosity over the hunt, I turned my horse towards it's direction. I pursued it for another ten seconds, and then came a peasant girl side-riding on a horse.
"Your Highness," She says. I chuckle.
"Cut the formalities darling. I'm—" She cut me off.
"Prince Mettaton, everyone knows your name." The girl states, chuckling herself.
"What's your name?" I ask as our steeds circled around each other.
"I will tell you on one condition: Do not pursue your hunt on the stag." She bargains. I scoff.
"Seriously darling? It's just a stag." I tell her. She shakes her head.
"One condition." She repeats, holding up a finger. I sigh. This girl must be very caring about the wildlife around here.
"Alright." I agree.
"PRINCE! WE CANNOT FIND THE ANIMAL!" Shouts Papyrus from the other side of the clearing.
"Don't go after it! We've been away from the castle long enough. Alphys is probably getting riled up about the possibility of my circuits being fried!" I order him. Upon hearing the fading sound of galloping hooves, I turn back to the girl. She quickly uses her steed to sprint away, going to fast for me to be able catch up.
"Wait!" I cry.
"I don't even know your name!" I yell after her. By now she was out of sight, and the galloping was covered by the sounds of forest life. So much for getting to know her. But there was something about her, that I just . . . Hm. Nevermind, I gotta catch up to Papyrus. No time to think of. . . Of silly girls right now.

Back at the castle, my fellow hunting group were questioning me. It's more or less Sir Burgerpants though.
"So who was that fair maiden you were speaking to earlier?" BP asks. I grunt.
"Just a girl who didn't want us pursuing the stag." I answer bluntly. He chuckles.
"Just a girl?" He emphasizes 'just'. I nod.
"Just a girl." I repeat. He scoffs, buts decides not to continue.
"Alright. Later Prince!" BP salutes me and heads off to train with Sir Papyrus. I sigh, putting a hand on my metal chin. I wanted to see that girl again. I yearned to. But how? Lightbulb.
After taking the shortcut to the throne room, I walked up to my parents' thrones.
"Hello Prince Mettaton EX." The two say in unison.
"Queen Undyne, Queen Alphys, good evening. I have a proclamation for the ball." I announce. Their eyebrows rise up.
"Oh really?" Undyne asks.
"What is it honey?" Alphys asks. I take a breath in and out, praying to Asgore that this would work.
"I would like make the ball open to everyone in the kingdom, not just princesses from neighboring kingdoms." I state.
"You want a peasant wife?" Undyne says. I shake my head.
"I never said that." I look over at Alphys, looking for approval. Luckily, she nods.
"I will allow it." Undyne stares at her in shock.
"Alphys honey!" Undyne tries to protest. I chuckled. My mother Undyne could be so stubborn at times.
"If that's what he feels what is best, then that is what we shall do." She says.
"NICECREAMGUY!" NiceCream comes rushing in. Alphys tells him what to write down on his scroll, and to have Sir Burgerpants a accompany him to the town. Score!
