Lockdown Date

For CriddleTheWriter

"Good morning, Chloe.  Or rather good afternoon.  Guess we slept in today."

"Hi, Freddie." Chloe waved at Freddie who was lying in his own bed in front of his laptop. "How are you doing today?"

"I'm okay," Freddie sighed.  "I just don't feel like doing anything today."

"Me neither. I'm still in my pajamas, how about you?"

"Same." She could see he was wearing his favorite Spiderman pajama bottoms with a white t-shirt.  "I'm just wishing things were different."

"I have a great idea." Freddie sat up.  "How about we go on a date?"

"What do you mean?" Chloe was confused.  "We're on lockdown, we can't go anywhere.  Plus everything's closed."

"That's not going to stop us from having a nice time." Freddie said.  "Let's do this.  Go get dolled up in your finest, then meet me back in front of your laptop."

Chloe was curious, what was Freddie up to? But he always had good ideas so she decided to do what he said.

Chloe went in the bathroom and took a long shower.  She washed and styled her hair, which had been neglected since this quarantine started.

Next she painted her nails.  Already she was beginning to feel like herself.  She went into her closet and tried to decide what to wear.  There was one dress she had bought a few months ago, one she hadn't worn yet.  It was a light blue and green strapless number.  Freddie had never seen her wearing it.

Chloe put it on and did her make-up.  Then she sat in front of her laptop and waited for Freddie.

He came on.  "Hi, Chloe.  Wow, you look amazing!"

Chloe blushed.  "Thank you."

Freddie wore a nice black suit with a matching tie.  He held out some flowers.  "These are from my garden. For you, sweetheart."

"Aww, thank you."

"I was thinking that we can start with something romantic." Freddie said as he carried his laptop to his dining room and sat it down on the table.  The table was covered in a white cloth. Chloe could see candles lit and placed in holders on the table.

"Aww."

"Some candles, a little music." Freddie turned on Pandora to some chillhop music.  He placed the flowers in a vase nearby.  "How's that?"

Chloe loved this.  It felt like Freddie really was here.  "It's amazing."

A bell dinged from Freddie's kitchen.

"Whoops, there's dinner," Freddie said.  "It's just one of those microwave dinners.  You know I can't cook.  Get something for yourself so it'll be like we're really dining together."

Chloe quickly heated up some leftovers and they sat in front of their laptops with their meals and talked about everything.  For a moment it felt like they were really in the same room.

After dinner they slow danced with the computers.  Later Freddie played a romantic black and white movie on his TV for them. It was evening by the time the movie was over.

"Thank you for the date, Freddie," Chloe said.  "This was so sweet of you."

"You're welcome, sweetheart." Freddie said.  "I'm glad you enjoyed it.  Have a good night. Sleep well."

"You too."

They logged off.
