Chapter 14: Enterprise.

Divya's POV

The next day I woke up to my beloved alarm.

I groaned as I switched it off and got up. After freshening up I wore black pants and a black tank top paired it up with a royal blue blazer, I rolled the sleeves up to my elbow and glanced at the mirror with a satisfactory smile.

I was in my car on the way to my office and decided to check my phone as my phone was switched off since yesterday.

Oh dear lord

I had 256 text from. . .Babe.
Who is Babe? I haven't saved any of my contacts under this name.

Babe:
Good morning amore, how are you?
Did you sleep well
Did you dream of me amore?😏
.
.
.
.
I'm feeling so bored
This meeting sucks! I'm out of the country for this stupid meeting.
I'm missing you amore. Where are you??
.
.
.
.
Where are you amore?
Why aren't you answering me
.
.
.
.
Amore, did I do something to offend you?
Mio amore, I'm sorry.
Talk to me, please.
.
.
.
.
Amore where are you?
Are you OK??
Goddammit! Pick my calls!
.
.
.
Divya, what happened? Are you sick?
.
.
.
.

The messages continued, I unconsciously smiled at his messages, he's so cute. But how did he get my number, I'll talk about it to him later.
I changed his name from babe to dark chocolate.

I texted him so that he wouldn't get worried about me anymore.

Divya:
I'm fine, thank you.

After a few minutes, my car pulled up at the office. And I stepped out.

It was quiet and very pleasant as usual aside from the odd stares I was receiving from everyone. It's not usually this quiet in here, ignoring it I headed straight to the elevator and pressed on the 24th floor.

I had this unsettling feeling in my stomach like you know silence before storm. I went straight to my cabin when the lift had reached the 24 floor.

On my way, I saw my receptionist, Ila giving me a sly smile and Layla smirking at me.

Why is everyone acting so strange? What is wrong with everyone today?

I unlocked the door to my cabin only to find it open. The room was very dark. As far as I know, I've never closed the blinds in this room and it's not usually this dim in here.

"Who is there?" I cautiously took my pistol out.

I held onto the wall adjacent to me and felt the edges of the switches. I switched on the lights and saw Aryan leaning at the front of my desk with his arms crossed and an ankle propped on the other, he was drilling holes at the floor with his hard and cold gaze.

I breathed out in relief and hid the pistol before he could see it. I carefully closed the door and walked a bit closer to him.

"Hi, how are you?" I smiled at him, knowing that it'll get awkward if I had stayed silent.

He lifted his hard gaze from the floor and toppled it on me.

"How am I? After over 200 messages you ask me how am I?" he laughed bitterly and stalked towards me.

"I was somewhere out of the country worried sick about you and you just kept on ignoring my calls and texts. And with what did you reply back ' I'm fine, thank you.' what were you doing?"

Now that he was closer to me, I could see his eyes rimmed red due to tiredness, his hair sat messily and his usually stotic face looked a bit tired and in relief.

I moved back with each step he came forward expecting him to get the hint and stop but he didn't. I gasped lightly when my back touched the wall, when I glanced back at him he was already staring down at me. His nose is just a few centimeters away from me.

"Why did you ignore my calls, Amore?" He growled angrily. When I tried to slide away from him he slammed his hand beside my head and placed his other arm on my waist, trapping me completely.

"I-I...I was occupied, I thought I'd talk to you later, and anyway what if it was not you what if it was some old hag or a stalker." I tried to play it cool but how could I ignore the animal rampage in my stomach. I pinched my thigh so that I could stop thinking of the sweet things my dirty brain was displaying me.

"Don't play the stranger card on me, Amore. You know it well enough that only I call you 'Amore', or is there someone else important in your life other than me?" He squinted his eyes and growled at me.

"Yes, yes there is someone else other than you who are important in my life" I tried to hide the smile daring to breakout.

His eyes darkened considerably,
"Who?" he growled tightening his hold on my waist.

"My mom, dad, Shiv, Om, Vikrant, Nicole, Deepti, Kyla, Alexa. . ." I continued smirking.

"Amore. . .you'll be the death of me." He sighed and nuzzled in the crook of my neck and hugged me. On instinct, I wrapped my hands around him. Oddly I felt comfy and safe in his arms, there's no harm to me if he is with me.

"And you'll be mine," I whispered softly. He smiled at me. Someone must stop this sweet and touchy-touchy Aryan, my heart can't handle the continuous fluttering.

And as usual, our little moment is interrupted by someone barging in,
"Divya you need to sign these fil-Oh! I'm sorry. I didn't know you were...occupied." She said innocently though I could see her smirking.

That little vixen. . .

Aryan groaned and rested his forehead on mine. "I'll drive you home today." I was gonna refuse to which he gave me the look, he kissed my forehead and left me to deal with my fluttering heart.

Now coming back to Layla, I narrowed my eyes at her and snatched the files.

"What?" She grinned slyly.

"Don't you give me that look, you know too well," I grumbled as I went through the files.

"So someone had warned me not to mix personal life with professional life and no unnecessary flirting in the office," She glanced at me with the same innocent face while I felt my cheeks heat up at her words.

"That was not flirting we were just. . .talking. Yeah, we were talking." It was a statement but felt like I was convincing myself.

"Yeah yeah, wish I could have someone to 'talk' like that," She smirked at me and left.

"Hey! We were just talking! " I yelled but she had already left.

~~~
Finally, It's done. The last file of the day.
Oh God, this is so exhausting. The whole day I was winding up all the deals left.
My eyes are sore from staying awake for this long and it's already past my sleeping time. I packed my purse and exited the building.
A car honked just as I reached out, I tried to look from under my hands but the headlights were blinding my vision.
