Chapter 5

I sit up in the chair, breathing hard I wipe away the tears; I glance up at the time, its two o'clock. Molly should be home soon. I groan and stretch, wondering what's happening back in Citarinty. I go and 'make' Molly lunch, I just pull out dinner and breakfast and stick it in the microwave. Just as it finishes Molly comes through the door. "Hey," I mummer to her. "Hey, something wrong?" Mol asks softly, "I-I," my voice breaks as I try to speak. "Shh" Molly quietens me; she has always been able to tell what I want to say through my eyes. I nod, and I feel her arms wrap around me in a tight embrace, I return it, gratefully. Molly rubs soothing circles in my back as I start to cry, we stay like that for longer than I'd care to admit, by quarter to three Molly had me sitting on the lounge with a block of chocolate and the most ridiculous movie we could think of. Barbie, we spent the whole time ruining other people's childhood with logic, it was hilarious.
When the others came home we were onto our second Barbie movie, and we were the universes biggest critiques. "What is this?" Is the first thing Ty asks. "Hmm, wha-, oh we were just critiquing Barbie movies." I say as if it is the most normal thing in the world. I turn back to the movie. "Oh my goodness! These people are idiots that 'flary' changed her dress INFRONT of everyone! It's obvious that wasn't the girls design!" I yell in frustration at the TV and eat more chocolate. "I know right and look at her hair!" Mol yells as well. "Girls, girls, calm down" Seth tells us. "NO!" We shout in unison. "Fine whatever" Seth throws his hands up in the air and leaves. The others and I laugh, everyone other than Seth joins us in ruining Barbie, yes including Lyra. She is after all 748 years old, but she is a child by our standards.
After we finish watching three more Barbie movies, it was seven o'clock, I sigh getting up. Stretching and groaning I make my way over to the kitchen. Pulling things out of the fridge, I start to cook some mince. I feel like eating taco's so that's what's for dinner. "Hey Win, do you think we'll ever get home?" Jason asks. "I sigh and lean against the bench. "I honestly don't know, I don't have my books so I can't find the correct spell." I reply, he sighs and nods his head. When I finish cooking dinner I glance up, its quarter to eight. "Ly," I call "come and set the table" Lyra comes running downstairs. "Okay Winter" she responds and races to do as she's told.
"Hey Moll" I call out to my friend. "Do you remember when we 'ran away' but we got like half a kilometre away and got scared and ran the whole way home?" I ask and she laughs "yeah I remember that, what about the time we decided to go on an adventure into the forest, but when your dad found out what we were gonna do he stopped us." She reminisces. "Yeah I remember that, how'd he find out about what we were doing anyway?" I ask her, "Oh, that's simple, that one." She points at Tyler "caught me taking food from the kitchen, so I told him what we were doing, and when he asked if he could come I said no, so he went and dobbed." She laughs, Ty goes red from embarrassment as we all laugh.
After dinner everyone helps to clean up. At eight thirty I send Ly off to bed and the boy's follow at nine. At nine thirty Moll and I turn off the TV and head up ourselves.

I race down the halls of our palace Citarinty, I take a left, and race up the stairs. I run forward, pushing open the double doors I run into the library. I run down aisle, after aisle, my eyes scanning the names of the books. I stop. "Gosh I'm an idiot" I mutter to myself and I turn around to make a beeline for my room. I take a left, then a right, only two more turns, a left and then a... I pause. Looking around. I quickly turn and backtrack thinkingI took a wrong turn somewhere, I pause. There's nowhere to go. I turn back around, all I want is a way to get all those I care about back home. I start to feel dizzy I see a white, blinding, warm light. I stupidly walk into it. I'm in a tunnel I turn around the end is blocked, sighing I walk forward, not being able to see the other end I start to panic, I start running. I then see it the other end... I think, it looks so odd like I'm looking down on the...world. Oh no I try to stop but I'm already falling, falling I summon my wings, something that I haven't done in years. I can feel them forming ripping through my clothes, and then there they were my strong beautiful silverand dark pink, almost crimson, wings. I make my wings give two hard beats and I soar but my heart soars higher. Of all the things I've missed this is one of the top. The freedom of flying. I feel my waist length black hair flowing behind me. I open my eyes and let out a cry of joy.

Casting my gaze down I realise that I'm flying over Citarinty, I can see the burning trees and my eyes water. I blink back the tears and focus on the landscape, there's still a war going on, I sigh we'd be safer in the middle of all this anarchy than back in the world we are now, with the constant fear of being found then tested on. I groan, wishing with every ounce of my being that we could go back home...

Thud, I let out a gasp, I have rolled off my bed. "Damn," I mutter "it felt so real." "What felt so real?" Molly asks sitting up and rubbing her eyes. "My dream" I murmur back, turning to face Molly a gasp escapes her lip; confusion crosses my face. "What?" I ask. She gestures to around her back and hair, and I jump out of bed and race to my dresser. "WHAT!" I screech "No, no, NO!" I yell out frustrated and scared at my appearance. I can see my wings form glinting, and shining. Glancing at my hair I note the silver and dark pink streaks running through my black hair. "Well that's new" I whisper under my breath.
