*Chapter Sixty Two*

"There's my girl," Klaus says, suddenly coming face-to-face with the alive doppelganger.
"Klaus," Elena gasps.
"You are supposed to be dead," He states, reappearing in front of her when she tries to make an escape. "What are we going to do about that?" Before she could reply or make another escape attempt Klaus grabs her arm. "You put a rather large kink in my plans, sweetheart. The whole point of breaking the curse and becoming a hybrid was to make more hybrids. I haven't been able to do that. Now, my bet is, it has something to do with the fact that you're still breathing,"
"If you're going to kill me, just do it!" Elena snaps.
"Not until I know I'm right. But I do have ways of making you suffer," He grins, pulling her into the gym. "Attention, seniors! You have officially been busted. Prank night is over. Head on home," Klaus announces feigning an American accent. "You two, I remember you,"
"I'm sorry. Who are you?" Dana asks, tiling her head.
"Oh, don't worry. I wasn't in my right head last time we met," Klaus explains. "Lift your foot up please, Dana," He compels. "If she drops her foot, Chad, I want you to beat her to death. Understood?" Chad nods.
"Don't, Klaus," Elena pleads. "You don't have to hurt anybody,"
"Oh, come on, love," Klaus grins. "Of course I do,"
"Where's my brother?" Elena asks, crossing her arms. The smirk disappears from Klaus's face being replaced with a scowl. Just as quickly as his look changes it changes again, this time it's wiped clean of emotion.
"I don't know," He lies, with a shrug. "I left him with the others once we got into town. I don't know where any of them are,"
He knew exactly where the three of his mates were. Not long after he left them in Mystic Falls they returned to the Gilbert House. Jeremy and his aunt are now reunited and catching up. Alvina is hunting down Damon and his mate. Enzo had been staying with Jeremy but Klaus assumed he has returned to Alvina by now.
"I wonder, would you be so eager to see your brother after he sold you out to me?" Klaus wonders. Elena's face falls. "How do you think I found out about you being alive?" He asks. He steps closer to her. "Your brother told me," He whispers.
Elena's mouth opens a bit in shock. She couldn't believe her own brother had sold her out to the man who wanted her dead. He sacrificed his summer and left his life behind to keep up with the lie of her being dead only to tell the truth after a few months?
"And Stefan?" Elena asks in a whisper afraid of the answer.
"Oh, if I had to guess he's having some alone time with my sister," Klaus says, the smirk returning to his face.
"Your sister?" Elena whispers. Klaus hums.
"Haven't you heard?" He asks tilting his head. "Stefan's found his mate in my sister, Rebekah," He tell her enjoying how her face drops. "Your brother, my mate, gave away your little secret and your boyfriend is my sisters mate which leaves you with just your aunt. Has she forgiven you yet for all the things you've kept from her?" He asks. Elena glares at him but he continues to smirk enjoying the pain in her eyes.
A moment later and the door opens. Bonnie walks in on her own looking for her friends.
"Bonnie, get out of here!"
Klaus rushes to the witch standing between her and the exit.
"Ah, I was wondering when you'd show up. Now, we can get started," He grins. He looks over to Dana. "Ah, Dana, why don't you relax? You and Chad sit tight. I assume you're the reason Elena's still walking around alive?"
"That's right. If you want to blame someone, blame me," Bonnie says bravely.
"Oh, there's no need for blame, love," Klaus smirks. "Just your witchy interference seems to have cause some undesirable side effects. And since you caused the problem, I'm going to have you find the fix,"
"Get off of me!" Tyler snaps struggling against Rebekah's hold.
"Hush now," Rebekah snaps.
"Stefan," Elena whispers, seeing her ex-boyfriend following after the blonde. Stefan avoids looking at her.
"I'd like you all to meet my sister, Rebekah. Word of warning... She can be quite mean," Klaus teases.
"Don't be an ass," Rebekah snaps, throwing Tyler at Klaus's feet.
"Leave him alone!" Elena shouts. Nobody listens to her.
"I'm going to make this very simple... Every time I attempt to turn a werewolf into a vampire hybrid, they die during the transition. It's quite horrible, actually," Klaus says. Klaus bites his wrist and forces Tyler to drink. "I need you to find a way to save my hybrids, Bonnie. And or Tyler's sake.. You better hurry," With a smirk, he twists his head until it snaps killing him.
Elena and Bonnie look at Tyler's body in shock. Neither of them thought this was how the night would go. It was just supposed to be a fun Senior Prank Night. If Bonnie couldn't find a way to save Tyler they'd lose him just like they lost Matt.
"Go and fetch your grimoires and enchantments and what-not," Klaus encourages Bonnie. "I'll hold onto Elena... For safe keeping," Klaus smirks, grabbing the doppelganger.
Bonnie shares a look with Elena before leaving the gym. She mentally contacts her mate hoping he would be able to help her figure out her problem.
"So, this is the latest doppelganger," Rebekah says, walking up to Elena. "The original one was much prettier," She snarls, holding herself back from killing her like she desperately wanted too.
"Enough, Rebekah," Klaus states, knowing where her mind was going. "Take the wolf boy elsewhere, would you?"
Rebekah grabs Tyler and begins to drag him away. Stefan follows her but pauses when Elena calls for him. He doesn't turn to her and pushes through his hesitance to follow his mate. As he walks out the door Elena feels her heart shattering.
"Might as well get comfortable," Klaus tells her. "It's going to be a long night," He smirks, walking away from her. He took a seat in the bleachers, his cocky façade dropping to a grumpy pout. The memories of the past summer didn't get long to consume his mind before the doors to the gym opened again.
"Not even an entire day in town and you're already wrecking havoc," Enzo comments, walking up to the bleachers but staying on the gym floor. The distance killed him but he didn't want to overstep knowing Klaus was still angry with him.
"Come to save your mate's sister?" Klaus asks.
"I did my part in keeping her safe over the summer," Enzo shrugs. "Her safety is in her own hands," He tells him. Klaus continues to avoid looking at Enzo causing the Brit to frown. "I'm sorry," Enzo says, inching closer. He was desperate to close the distance but forced himself to stay back. "You're my mate just as much as Jeremy is. You have to understand why I did it but I promise I won't hurt you again," Klaus scoffs. "You have my word, I won't betray you," Enzo insists. Klaus finally looks at him.
"I'm just supposed to trust you?" Klaus asks. "You've lied from the very start,"
"That's a little dramatic," Enzo tells him. "The only thing I've ever lied about is about Elena... Everything else is true," He assures him. "Elena means nothing to me. I protected her for Jeremy but not anymore,"
"Fair enough," Klaus says, standing up. "If you don't care about Elena then you shouldn't care about some random teenagers," He says, coming down from the bleachers.
"I only care for a handful of people, random teenagers don't make the list," Enzo tells him, slowly catching onto Klaus's plan.
"Prove it," Klaus says, motioning toward Dana and Chad. "Kill them,"
Enzo doesn't hesitate. He grabs Dana forcing her neck into his mouth. Chad's eyes widen and he tries to run but Klaus holds him still. Enzo feeds viciously until her blood is drained then her body is dumped on the ground.
Enzo's on Chad before Dana's body hits the floor. Klaus's smirk widens. He decides to share Chad. He grabs the boys wrist and begins to feed killing him quicker.
When the two vampires release Chad, the boy falls to the ground but neither of the killers pay him any attention. Their eyes are locked together. They move toward each other simultaneously.
Klaus growls deeply. His hand wraps around Enzo's neck forcing their kiss to deepen. Enzo's hands dig into Klaus's hips pulling them against his own. The kiss unleashed months of pent up emotion.
The world around them faded. Klaus's sole focus is on his mate. The desire to be with him completely, to bond with him, was taking over. The more he imagined Enzo beneath him, the moan sounds that escaped Enzo while they kissed, the less control Klaus had.
With great strength, strength that almost failed, Enzo pulled away. Klaus growled reconnecting their lips un willing to let go just yet. Enzo smiled but controlled the kiss to keep it from going further.
"I am sorry for hurting you, love," Enzo whispers, his hand loosening. At some point they had slipped under his shirt for some skin-to-skin contact. He smiled at the realization and continued to rub his soft skin.
"You'll make it up to me," Klaus declares, holding him even closer. Enzo smirks nipping at Klaus's bottom lip.
"Where is it?! Where's my necklace?!" Rebekah shouts, barging into the gym.
Klaus snarls and holds Enzo closer to him. It took a few seconds for the haze to unfog their minds. Enzo was surprised to see Elena was still standing there. Had she run off neither of them would have noticed until this moment.
"What are you talking about?" Klaus growls.
"She has my necklace," Rebekah snaps, marching toward her brother ignoring the fact that he was very cozy with Enzo. "Look,"
"Well, well, more lies," Klaus growls, untangling himself from Enzo but he wouldn't let the hybrid go too far. Klaus narrows his eyes at him and roughly grabs his chin. "Anything else I should know about?" He snarls.
"I thought you knew about it by now," Enzo confesses. Klaus's grip tightens.
"I'll deal with you later," Klaus promises. Enzo tries not to smirk as Klaus releases him.
"Where is it?" Rebekah snaps at Elena.
"I don't have it anymore," Elena promises.
"You're lying!" Rebekah lashes out. Klaus pulls her off of Elena and practically tosses her into Stefan's arms.
"Knock it off!" He snaps.
"Make her tell me where it is, Nik!" Rebekah whines. He sighs and looks back to the doppelganger.
"Where's the necklace, sweetheart? Be honest,"
"I'm telling the truth. Katherine Stole it," Elena explains.
"Katherine... Of course... Well, that's unfortunate. If we had the necklace it would make things a whole lot easier for your witch. But since we're going this the hard way, let's put a clock on it, shall we?" He suggest, walking over to the game clock. "20 minutes," Klaus says. "If I don't have an answer by then, I'll kill you for good this time," He warns. "Be a dear and make sure she stays here," Klaus says to Enzo. "If she tries to run, fracture her spine,"
"You don't have to do this," Elena whimpers.
"Oh, please keep quiet," Enzo tells her. "Or I'll fracture your spine whether you run or not,"
Klaus smirks and leaves the gym with Stefan and Rebekah.
"You spent all summer protecting me, now you're just going to do as he says?" Elena asks, crossing her arms.
"Yeah," Enzo shrugs, nodding. "I protected you for Jeremy and I will kill you for Klaus," He explains. "So, be a good girl. Sit down and shut up,"
Klaus walked down the hall searching for his witch. When he found her he was surprised to find her accompanied with Elijah. He wondered why Elijah would be helping Bonnie when he remembered the initials tattooed on his brother's forearm.
B.B.
While he was happy for his brother he knew it was just another thing his mates had kept from him. He remembered the night before they started searching for hybrids. Alvina had fought for Elijah's undaggering. She promised he'd stay in Mystic Falls for a good friend. From the kiss Elijah and the witch are sharing it seemed they were very good friends.
"Did the spell work?" Elijah asks and Bonnie nods.
"I heard voices... I think it was the ancestors... The witch that put the hybrid curse on Klaus. She said that Elena shouldn't have survived Klaus' ritual. The hybrids can't transition because Elena's still alive,"
"Is that what she said?" Klaus asks, startling the both of them. "Given the choice, doppelganger or hybrid, I go hybrid every time," Klaus shares a look with Elijah before returning to the gym. "Well, the witch figured it out in the nick of time," Klaus declares marching to Elena. "I'll need you to fill this with your blood,"
"What?" Elena asks.
"You can either volunteer a sample or we'll take it," Klaus warns. Elena looks between him and Enzo. She had thought that she could trust Enzo, even if it was just a little bit, but now she wasn't so sure.
After finding something sharp to cut herself with she gives Klaus the blood. Once it's within his possession, Klaus leaves the gym. Enzo stays with Elena.
"Want some blood?" Enzo asks.
"You threatened to kill me, now you want to heal me?" Elena snaps.
"Just trying to help," He shrugs. Elena rolls her eyes and tends to her arm. Hesitantly, she looks back at Enzo.
"Did Jeremy really give me up?" She asks, quietly. Enzo looks at her for a moment.
"He didn't mean too," Enzo tells her. "But you couldn't understand the kind of pressure he was under nor the tension that had been building for months... Once Rebekah joined our group everything was about to boil over... Jeremy couldn't take it but he regretted it when he said it," He explains. "He wants you safe but he also needs a connection with Klaus,"
Elena doesn't answer. She didn't know how to feel about the revelation. She wanted to understand but she also felt betrayed. She wanted Jeremy to come home but she hadn't thought his return would bring Klaus thus endangering her life again.
"Don't be too hard on him, it's been a long summer," Enzo says. "He's done and given up a lot for you. Don't be ungrateful because of one hiccup,"
