chapter 2

The grand hall of the pack's den was filled with warmth and laughter as the members gathered around the long tables, enjoying the feast prepared in honor of the visiting pack. Grey Tooth, one of Red Tail's most trusted guards, approached him with a bow. "My lord, this stranger was asking for you," he said, his voice low and respectful.
Red Tail's curiosity was piqued as he rose from his seat and walked towards the front door. Grey Tooth opened the door, revealing a tall, imposing figure with a mischievous grin on his face. "Hello, what do you want?" Red Tail asked, his tone firm but with a hint of amusement.
The stranger chuckled and replied, "Hi, brother. How are you?" Red Tail's expression changed from curiosity to surprise as he realized who the stranger was. "Blade, you sneaky devil," he said with a laugh.
Blade, Red Tail's brother, was accompanied by his mate, Snow, and their two children. Snow was a beautiful woman with long, flowing hair and a warm smile. The children, a boy and a girl, looked like miniature versions of their parents, with bright eyes and mischievous grins.
"Blade, are you going to introduce me to your brother?" Snow asked, her voice sweet and gentle. Blade smiled and said, "Of course, my love. This is my brother, Red Tail, the alpha and king of this area."
Red Tail smiled and extended his hand in greeting. "Welcome to our home, Snow. And please, call me Joseph or Red Tail, whichever you prefer." Snow smiled and took his hand, and Red Tail welcomed her and the children inside.
As they sat down to eat, Red Tail noticed a man with a brown beard and blue eyes sitting at the back of the hall, observing the gathering with interest. He nodded at the man, who nodded back in acknowledgement.
The food was plentiful and delicious, with a variety of roasted meats and fresh bread. Some of the pack members drank deer blood, while others drank werewolf blood, a tradition that was both sacred and symbolic of their strength and unity.
Just as the meal was reaching its peak, a loud clap of thunder boomed outside, followed by a flash of lightning that illuminated the hall. The pack members looked up, startled, and Red Tail laughed. "Ah, it seems the storm is coming," he said, smiling.
As the meal continued, Red Tail turned to Blade and asked, "So, Blade, how's everything been? I haven't seen you since you were this high." Red Tail stood up from his chair, motioning with his right hand and thigh, and the pack members were shocked to realize that Blade was related to their alpha.
Snow and Crystal Green giggled at the sight of Red Tail and Blade reminiscing about old times. Just then, Grey Tooth approached Red Tail and whispered something in his ear. Red Tail's expression turned serious, and he excused himself from the table.
"Please, enjoy your meal," Red Tail said, smiling at his guests. "I'll be right back." He followed Grey Tooth down a hall and outside, where he was greeted by twenty members of the Lightning Ice pack, their faces stern and determined.
Red Tail's instincts kicked in, and he sensed that something was amiss. He stood tall, his eyes locked on the leader of the Lightning Ice pack, and asked, "What brings you here tonight?" The leader, a tall woman with piercing blue eyes, replied, "We have come to discuss a matter of great importance, Red Tail. One that affects both our packs.”
