Chapter Twenty: Wolf
Diana's POV
"Diana, you need to sit down," Monica said quietly. I gave her a deadly look before continuing to pace back and forth.
How was I supposed to sit down knowing the love of my life is on the verge of death? As if on cue, the pack doctor walked into the kitchen.
"Luna?" I snapped my head up in his direction, seeing the bloodstains covering his plaid shirt.
"Is he okay? Please tell me he is going to live." The doctor nodded making me sigh in relief.
"Alpha is doing fine, want the good news first or bad news?" Of course, there is always bad news in these kinds of situations.
"Bad news."
"Well, he took too much damage. It may take him a few days to shift back. Alpha will stay in his wolf form until he heals." I stayed silent, shifting my vision to the door behind him.
"What's the good news?" He sighed, walking a little closer to me.
"Alpha is very strong. Usually, in these kinds of of...events, he would have fallen into a coma. Luckily, he stayed awake during the whole surgery. He will recover faster than we thought."
It was my turn to sigh. I rubbed my face, thanking God for his life.
"C-can I go see him?" He moved out of my way, motioning his arm to the door.
"Be my guest." My feet wandered out of the kitchen and into the living room, where Jay laid on the now stained couch. I ran to him and sat on the floor beside him, giving him a warm embrace.
"Don't f*cking scare me like that!" He whimpered in response.
'I'm sorry darling.'
It was all he said, I gave him a peck on his wet nose, before hiding myself into the sheer black fur that was covered in dried blood. Once again we were disrupted from our moment of peace together.
I muttered cuss words out of anger, which Jay found amusement too.
"What is it, Lena?" She moved closer to me, her long dark brown hair now covering my face. She pulled me into her as she took a seat next to me. Her eyes widened when she saw Jay's large black wolf taking over the whole couch.
"So this is Luca?" She gave Jay a weird look, who gave her one back. I twisted my head side to side.
"Yes and no." This time I got the weird look.
"What does that mean?" I pet Jay, scratching behind his ear.
"This is Jay. He is Luca's wolf." I gave him another peck on the nose, continuing to scratch behind his ear.
"I'm confused." She said moving her hand to touch Jay. He snarled, moving his head into my shoulder. She snapped her hand back to her side, rolling her eyes.
"Basically, Jay is like his inner wolf, so Luca isn't in control of him." She nodded slowly.
"So technically he has two souls?" I shrugged my shoulders, pouting my lip.
"I guess you can put it that way." My eyes went to his wound to see it healing slowly. I stood up off of the ground, putting my hand out for Lena to grab onto. She accepted luckily.
"I'm going to be completely honest with you." She breathed out.
"What?" I questioned.
"A werewolf boyfriend is kinda hot, I'm pretty sure you're the one who got yourself a daddy." She let out a laugh winking at me. I gasped and blushed a deep red remembering our conversation back at the camp. Jay howled and stuck his tongue out. Lena stared at Jay gulping hard.
"He can understand me huh?" I nodded, biting my lip from laughing.
'You think I'm a daddy?' Jay asked jokingly.
I pointed at him shaking my head.
"You shush." I blushed more. Monica walked out of the kitchen, covering her mouth seeing Jay's fleshy skin.
"Oh my God! How the f*ck are you still alive!?!" He growled at her choice of words.
"She has one too huh?" Lena asked me pointing to Monica. I nodded giving her a small chuckle.
"Blake is her mate. She's a werewolf too though, sooo." Lena gave me a look of shock before running to Monica.
"I have so many questions for you!" Monica glanced at me before grabbing Lena's hand and pulling her into an empty guest room. Jay and I were finally left alone.
'Lena seems more lovely.' Jay said sarcastically. I scoffed, sitting on the couch and putting his head on my lap.
"She's a lot better once you get to know her. She's known me since I was born." It was true, she was my number one for anything and she knew that. Before I met Luca, Lena was probably the only person I could trust with anything.
'Well, I'm glad you have me now.' Jay replied kindly. I sighed resting my head on his.
"You need to rest." He whimpered at me, not wanting me to leave him. I stood up from the couch, petting Jay soothingly.
'Don't leave me.'
I stayed with him a few minutes longer before speaking.
"Jay, I need to do some pack work for you. I don't want you falling behind once you recover fully, plus I'll figure out what to do about Theo in the meantime. You rest and I'll have Blake bring you deer or something." He finally let me leave, causing a sad feeling to wash over me for leaving him stranded on the bland couch.
My walk to his office was pretty uneventful, except for catching Blake and Monica making it to second base at their door. Not a very pretty sight. The door creaked open to the office, showing Luca's desk full of papers and sticky notes. I groaned, throwing my head back once I saw the mess.
I took a seat in his chair and began organizing everything, before finally reading letters and requests from other packs. There were some things I did sign off as I knew it would help our pack. I also responded to some past due letters that Luca never had the time to read.
"Diana?" I snapped my head up to see Blake. He gave me a small smile, looking at the now neat desk.
"Wow, I haven't seen this desk clean in years." I snorted at his remark.
"He'll thank me later." Blake agreed. He stayed quiet for a moment until suddenly pulling a chair next to me, sitting immediately.
"Luna, if you don't mind me asking... what happened out there? After I let you go?" I signed off the paper in my hands, dropping the pen. My eyes met his.
"Other than me telling him he f*cked up, nothing else." He frowned at my answer.
"There will be a most definite war," I added.
"Does Luca know?" I shook my head, sighing.
"No...I don't think so. I mean Jay heard everything, and either way, this war was going to happen. I'm going to make sure that bastard learns his lesson."
"Luna, how are we going to stop him?" That's what I was still trying to figure out. Theo did say he was brothers with Luca...was that true? Luca did tell me he had an older brother... I decided to ask.
"Blake, quick question. Is Theo Luca's older brother?"
"How did you figure it out?" I rolled my eyes.
"Yes or no?" He gave me a quick nod. I rested my face in my hands before whining.
"Blaaaakkke, this just got a lot harder." I couldn't do this without Luca's consent, especially if they were blood-related. Maybe, just maybe I could add more protection to the pack until he recovered.
"Blake, contact James first thing in the morning, I want to have a meeting with him. One more thing, I'm sure you know Luca is going to stay as Jay for a few days. Anyway, you can go out and hunt a deer?"
"I'll speak with him right away. And of course, I'll head out now with Monica." He stood up for his chair, leaving a screeching sound. I grabbed a hold of his arm before he left.
"Stay on the territory. If you can't find anything, I'll figure something else out."
After he left I continued to do work, finishing off as much as I could until dinner.
*****
Jay's POV
It's only been fifteen minutes since Diana had left and I'm already bored to death. I knew I couldn't move from this stupid couch anytime soon. Lena came back from the guest room, taking a seat on the loveseat towards my left.
"She's a very lucky person to have you. Diana deserves you."
Straight to the point aren't we? I stared at Lena seeing her sad expression. For some reason, I felt bad. Maybe it was because I didn't let her pet me? The only reason why was because I am Diana's. To be completely honest, she should be the only one to touch me.
'Jay you really are an idiot sometimes.' I grunted as Luca finally spoke to me after Diana had left. He blocked me out for the last twenty minutes. I wish I could reply to Lena, walk up to her, but I couldn't.
"I'm just in awe wondering how she was able to find you at such a young age. I'm almost 20 and I still haven't found anyone."
Oh. That makes more sense. I shifted on the couch, whimpering as a burning sensation filled the lower half of my body. How do I respond to that? I knew exactly what to say, yet no physical way of saying it.
"I'm sorry. You must be like really annoyed at me sulking." She wiped some tears.
I saw her look down at her wrist, standing up swiftly.
"6:30" Shit. It's already been an hour? Dinner was starting soon yet my mate was still upstairs. I decided to get her attention by barking and howling. Let me tell you...it worked. She came stumbling down the stairs, sprinting to me.
I gave her a toothy grin showing off my canines.
"Jay! That's not funny! I really thought something bad was happening!" She had a hand over her heart, trying to calm down.
'Nah, I just missed you.' She clicked her tongue, letting out a breathless laugh. The front door opened revealing Blake and Monica.
"Find anything?" Diana asked. They both shook their head, looking down in shame. She walked up to them giving them a warm embrace, whispering into their ears. I was curious to know what was going on. She walked back to me grabbing a hold of my right paw.
"Jay, I know you like fresh meat, but I'm not letting anyone off the territory for their safety. Are you okay with eating raw meat from the fridge?" Was she talking packaged beef? That's just wrong, but I was starving.
'Sure.' I knew I would regret it later on. Lena came back from the kitchen, along with Daniel and Aiden.
"Diana, we made dinner for you guys, as a way to say thank you," Daniel said. I glared at him harshly remembering the way he spoke to my mate a few days ago. I knew Luca and Diana forgave him, but I couldn't find myself to do the same. He saw me and took a step back in fear.
"What is that?"
"Well Daniel, that is my Jay." Her Jay. Oh, it sounded so right. He hid behind Lena shaking his head.
"Your Jay? What does that even mean?" I roared at him.
"Daniel you are so stupid. This is Luca in his wolf form also known as Jay." Lena told him blandly, moving away from him. He soon then hid behind Aiden as a form of protection. What a wuss.
"It seems like he doesn't like me very much." No shit captain obvious. Diana took a seat on the armrest, cuddling into my fur. I purred quietly loving her touch.
"He's just a little upset about the whole incident that happened a couple of days ago..." Diana replied, leaving a kiss on the top of my head.
'A little upset? Darling every time I look at him I want to rip his f*cking throat out.' She laughed, throwing her head back. I saw her mark-making me feel some sort of lust for her.
"Y-you can understand him?" Aiden asked shocked. I sat up a little, trying to stand up. Failing miserably, I slid onto the wood floor, whimpering loudly in pain. Blake ran to my aid along with Monica.
"What the hell were you thinking Jay?" Diana asked me upset.
'I was trying to make more room for you to sit down.' She sighed, gazing at my wound. I stared down seeing it heal surprisingly fast.
"Luckily you didn't hurt yourself more." I laid on the ground, pouting. This was going to be a long few days.
