Chapter 99
Brandon
It is like floating on a cloud seeing Lizzie so deliriously happy as she runs up the stairs to pack. Boy, I am such a lucky guy. The luckiest guy in the universe right now. It's like I have been holding my breath for years and now finally, I can exhale. Knowing that Lizzie is my girl, is the best feeling in the world. I feel as if I am riding a wave and I never want it to end. Not ever. I want to marry this girl, have children with her, the whole nine yards. I am more sure of this than anything in the world.
Okay, so we're still young, like seriously too young to be wanting to go off and get married and stuff but I know her, I know me, I know us. We're solid for the rest of our lives. There is going to be nothing that can come between us. I hope.
"So, Brandon, honey." Her mom says as we wait in the kitchen for Lizzie to pack. I could have followed her upstairs but honestly, I'd not have been able to stop myself from kissing her and then we'd be getting it on and be late for our flight.
"Yes, Ma'am." Her mother is a gentle soul but she does have the no-nonsense, stern mom look going on right now so I sit up straighter.
"I'm not sure where you and Lizzie are at right now, but it looks to be like it could be more than just good friends. Which is perfectly natural." I gulp, shit. "What I'm trying to say, is that if you are, you know seeing each other, I'd appreciate it if you take good care of my girl. And I do not want to be a grandma just yet. She has her whole life ahead of her, she has dreams, plans and so do you. Please be very careful, Brandon. Do you hear me?"
I can only nod, because I feel so uncomfortable right now that I want the floor to open up and swallow me whole. It was embarrassing enough hearing over the phone from my dad, but here in the kitchen with Lizzie's mom, it's like a hundred times more embarrassing.
"Absolutely, Ma'am. I promise that I will take good care of Lizzie and there will be no babies on the horizon. Trust me, it's not on our radar, we've only just started dating." It really should have been Lizzie to tell her mother, but you know, well moms just pick up on literally every damn thing, right?
"Good. I'm pleased to hear it. Just make sure you do, Brandon because I do not want to have to pick up the pieces of her life it if goes the other direction. I love you both, you're like my own son, and I'd hate to see your lives change direction because of a baby." I gulp, now I'm seriously embarrassed, I can even feel my cheeks flushing. Please hurry up Lizzie, I need to get out of here.
Like she's reading my mind, Lizzie comes dashing through the door and takes one look at my flushed beetroot face, her mother with a stern look on her face, and her jaw drops her jaw.
"What's going on, Mommy?" She asks with her arms now folded in front of her chest in the defensive pose.
"Just a little chat with Brandon about being safe and careful." Lizzie's mouth forms an O.
"Riiight. Okay, so well I'm glad that's all been covered then. Let's go Brandon. I'm ready."
Her mother thankfully doesn't give Lizzie the same lecture she's just given me. We're not stupid. We know the consequences of having a baby early because we were dumb enough to not use protection. There's been a couple of girls drop out of school because they got too carried away and now they have to do extra classes out of school and man, it makes me shudder. Maybe when we're much older, besides I do have a football career to think about and I want Lizzie to follow her dreams no matter what.
Even if it means being taken away from me to Austin or to Paris for her fashion dreams.
"Have a wonderful time you two." Her mother says. Lizzie goes and hugs her.
"See you in a few days, Mom. I love you." She kisses her mom on the cheek.
"I love you too, honey. Take care, speak soon and check in with us once a day, just a little message is fine so we know you're safe."
"Sure thing," Lizzie says, grabs my hand and practically drags me out of the door.
"Wow that was a bit embarrassing," She says as I press the fob to open the truck. I stand near her and open the door. She smells of lemons and strawberries, strange mix but it works. She smells amazing.
"God, I could die," Lizzie says. "I didn't want them to know straightaway. Fuck." I chuckle as I get in my side of the truck.
"It's done now and at least I didn't have to face your dad. I don't think I could take it."
Lizzie giggles. "Yeah, least it's done but don't think you've got away with my daddy not having a chat with you. I bet your mom is going to tell me all about it too, Brandon. You're her little boy."
I shrug, turn the engine over and release the parking brake and begin to slide off their drive.
"Let's go on vacation, baby. A whole four days to ourselves in a beautiful cabana on the water."
"Sounds like heaven, Brandon." Lizzie leans over and kisses my cheek and then puts her hand right in my crotch.
"Baby, that is feeling good. Damn, girl you sure know how to make a guy hard."
"Oh, Brandon you have no idea how good I'm going to make you feel when we're finally on our own."
"I love you," I tell her. She smiles, her eyes are brilliant like stars in the sky at night. My heart swells, it fills as if it is going to overflow.
"I love you too, Brandon. Yesterday, today, now, tomorrow and forever, always." I take her hand and bring it to my lips and kiss the top of it.
"Forever and for always." Now let's get on the flight because I am so eager to finally make love to my baby.
