Chapter 93

Lizzie

"I'm so ready for summer vacation, aren't you?" I ask Lilly and Tammy as we lie down on the loungers and stretch out. The sun sure feels good on my skin, and I am literally soaking up every ray. It's not too busy just yet, but then we are early to the beach today.

A couple of older folks are walking hand in hand, and it is so friggin adorable. I smile, wondering if that will be Brandon and me when we're seriously old.

I get a pang in my chest, mainly because we still have to get through three years of college. God, it is filling me with angst. What if he does meet someone else? Maybe I should reconsider and go to Cali instead. It's not like they don't offer the same course and an equally good college. Why did I even want to go to Texas in the first place? Seriously, I have no idea. Maybe it was because I wanted to travel out of the state. I shake my head.

"You alright, why are you shaking your head like that?" Lilly asks as she glances in my direction.

"Oh, nothing really."

"Tell us." She is insistent.

"I was just thinking that now Brandon and I have kind of got it together."

"Yeah, we noticed. Good for you guys," Tammy says as she reaches into her bag for a book. I wonder what she's reading. Our girl is hooked on hockey romance smut right now.

"About time." Lilly, by the way, is looking adorable in a red and white polka dot bikini. I swear she and Tammy have enough bikinis at home for every day of the week, unlike me. I own just four. Currently, I am wearing an electric blue, kind of turquoise number. It brings out the color of my hair nicely, and Brandon has previously commented that he loves this color on me.

"What if Brandon meets someone else at college?"

"Damn, girl. He is so into you, he wouldn't be so dang stupid. You know he's been into you for ages, right?" Tammy is looking at me with that kind of look on her face. It's the one that says wake up, girl, and get real. We see it a lot when she is making a point about something.

"I guess, but you know what long distance relationships can be like. You text, call, FaceTime every day, then every few days, once a week, and so it goes until you hardly make contact. Then there are all those other girls that'll be latching on to him. Not just because he is the hottest guy around."

Lilly coughs. "Don't forget Denver," She says playfully.

"Yeah, and Denver," I say. "He may succumb to temptation. He's going to be playing football, traveling some, and there'll be available girls throwing themselves at him from every angle." I sigh and place a hand over my eyes. This is too much for me to think about, but it's playing on my mind so badly.

As if he's got some kind of telepathic ability, Brandon comes to me, sits on the edge of the lounger, and traces my lips with his thumb. "You okay, baby?" Right, well, he knows the hand over the face thing means I am stressed.

"Yeah, sure. Just thinking about some stuff, school, last class on Monday you know nothing major." I lie.

"Okay, if you're sure only I know that move." He leans forward and plants a kiss on the tip of my nose. I can smell mint.

"Us guys are going to set up the net. Come over when you're ready, ladies." He gets up, and I check out his tight ass in his green board shorts, and okay, his legs too. They're so lean and toned. It turns me on, and I feel butterflies zinging in my stomach. I smile at him.

"See what I mean," Tammy says. "That guy is so into you, he's never going to stray. Trust me, Lizzie you have nothing to worry about."

"I don't have angst about Denver, girl," Lilly says as she piles her hair onto her head in a messy bun. "You gotta realize that he loves you. Denver would never stray. He's not that kind of guy. If he wanted to end it and be with someone else, he'd tell me. But it's unlikely. When it's the one, you just know." She leans over and gives me a hug.

"Girl group hug," Tammy says as she rolls off her lounger straight onto mine, and the three of us giggle as we hug each other.

"Let them play on their own for a while. I just want to read a couple of chapters of my new book," Lilly says and goes back to her lounger.

"What are you reading?" Tammy asks. She is now holding her book in her hand too. I love that my besties are mad for books like I am. Sometimes we have a reading chat night, and it's huge fun, but at the moment we're all reading something different.

"Twisted Lies," Lilly says.

"I love the Twisted series. But Chestnut Springs is my fave," Tammy says.

"That's my favorite too," I say.

"What are you reading, Tammy?" I ask as I delve into my large Jacob's bag for my book.

"The Housemaid." She shows me the cover.

"Oh wow, that is amazing. I read the sequel. You know there's a third one out, right? I thought you were into your smutty hockey books." I giggle.

"Fuck is there. I gotta buy that." She's straight onto her mobile. "I am but I heard this one is so good, I thought I'd take a break and read it."

"We can go to B&N later and pick it up," I tell her as I take the bookmark out of my book and lay it by my side.

"Girls, aren't you playing volleyball?" Tobias asks as he flops himself down on Tammy's bed and strokes her legs. She smiles and gives him a look that says you're so going to get it later. I chuckle. These two, honestly, it's friggin adorable and so awesome.

"Later, we're reading and chilling for a while first," Tammy tells him. She leans forward and gives him a kiss that's long and dirty. I bet Tobias is getting a boner as he places his arm over the front of his lap. I avert my gaze. God, we're such fucking horny teenagers.
