Chapter 4

I awoke to the smell of fresh meat. I lifted my head of my paws and almost squealed when I saw what was in front of me. A shrew! I sat up in excitement and began gulping the tender, delicious meat down. Suddenly I noticed that Rush was staring at me. He sat by the black and white Tomcat, tending to him. A piece of shrew pelt was dangling from my mouth and I quickly spat it out.

"Eat." He called.
Most of the meat had already been stripped of the yellow tinted bones but there was still specks of flesh dotting them. I gnawed on it until all the flesh was no longer on the bone, but in my stomach. By the time I looked back up, Rush was gone and the black and white tomcat still lay feebly on the ground, only now it had a slimy, yellow paste on his cuts and I growled in disgust.
Why hadn't he helped me?

My mouth was getting dry since I hadn't had water for a while. As I was lost in thoughts of Flash and the storm, something attacked me! I hissed and spat, clawing weakly at its face. As I was pushed onto my back with my belly exposed, I knew this was the end. I squeezed my eyes shut, waiting for the death blow, something to put me out of this misery, but it never came.

"I'm not going to hurt you," A soft, cunning voice slithered into my ears.
"badly anyways."
I opened my eyes to see a ragged looking cat. It had orange, slit snake-like eyes and many showing scars on its dark brown body.

"Who are you?" I snarled, even though I was quivering in fear.

"Ha! To think I'd tell my enemy any personal information about myself. Not happening honey." She purred, her words slithering like a snakes.

"What will you do with me?"

"You? You could be of some use, but you're friend," she flicked her tail at the black and white tomcat. "He'll be killed."

"No! Don't kill him! He hasn't done anything!"

"Can't you see? He's on Death's door anyways. I'd be doing his sorry pelt a favour!"

"Don-" I was cut off mid-speech when the cat pressed her claw against my throat.

"Listen or be killed. Your choice!" She seemed perfectly happy, as though killing other cats was her favourite hobby. I watched in horror as she stalked towards the tomcat. I tried to move but I frozen in pure terror.

"Good-bye darling kitty." She breathed into the tomcats ear. Wait. How could I here that?
Oh well, it didn't matter. The ugly brown cat bit the tomcats throat and I saw the tom twitch a few times. Then silence came. Cold, black silence.
This cat was strange. Not only did she have weird snake eyes and a slithering, cunning voice, she also liked to kill cats for fun.

"Anyways, I'll take you with me now." The cat spoke.
