Chapter 2

Zane rushed to stand up from his throne, but Garroth was quicker, and much louder.

"WHO DARES TO KILL A NOBLE IN THE PALACE OF THE RO'MEAVE FAMILY!?" He roared across the room, his beastly volume echoing off the walls and ringing inside of Zane's ears.

Zane dropped to the floor, covering his head with his wings and covering his ears with his hands. Since he had the ears of a wolf, he tilted them down and folded them inwards. He already knew what would happen next, so he closed his eyes and waited.

The screams stopped. All was quiet and still, with the quiet whistle of the wind.

Opening his eyes, Zane found himself inside of his treasury. Each Ro'Meave member had their own individual treasury, but there was also the family treasury, which was where the kingdom treasures were kept along with treasures that they fought over way too much. The family members never went into each other's treasuries, which Zane was the most grateful for.

Standing up and dusting himself off, Zane sighed and shook out his wolf ears. He blinked as he glanced at the floor, where the strange object had landed as a result of his teleportation. He picked it up in a hurry, knowing that Garroth or one of the messengers would come running about, barging into his bed chambers and demanding where he had gone off to.

He took off in a dash towards the back of his treasury, a large room with a circular doom shaped ceiling that had a silver chandelier hanging from it by a thick platinum chain. The front and middle sections of his treasury consisted of true treasures-- jewelry and gemstones, along with with precious objects holding strong powers. The back section of Zane's treasury consisted of the odd trinkets he found in his explorations, where he was heading with this strange device.

He sat the device on one of the polished wooden shelves, before taking in the other objects; a small hammered bronze circular disc that was way too flimsy to be made from real bronze, a set of two broken stone slates with scrabbly and spiked writings, a small brown box with a golden keyhole and a plastic girl wearing a pink dress that spun around, a clear bag with small spheres of marble dust that came in different colors, a blooby shaped lump of dried up clay, and many other objects.

"You most certainly are a strange little prince, aren't you?"

Zane's head snapped up, twisting his body around with a sword drawn. The sword had a white blade, sharp to the point with heavenly encryptions. The handle was made of the sturdiest gold and detailed to the smallest touch, a cross carved at the bottom of it. He had used some of his power on this, and he liked to call it The Blade of the Occult's Bane. He didn't know why he had named it that way, but he felt as though it was symbolic to the purpose. His very own enchantment echoed in his mind....

This sword cannot be touched or used by any Occult Demon, or any Demon at that. If one does, they will be killed instantly. If an Occult Councillor touches it, they will be placed in excruciating pain.

He... didn't think it was worded very good. His own younger sister, Stargazer, had said so herself. She always knew what was worded properly and what wasn't.

"That is true, older brother." Stargazer said in her naturally calm voice, blinking slowly as she displayed no interest in his odd collection. "I thought you would be at the party being held in the family throne room."

"Stargazer!" Zane gasped in surprise, before screaming out in pain as his sword's enchantment went into action.

"Oh, dear." She sighed, watching as he crumbled to the floor in agony. "You should have worded it better. Maybe something like " if the creator of this enchantment touches it, then they'll be protected from such harm'."

"Not helping!!" He cried out, wincing in pain as he curled into a ball.

"I'm just saying." She dismissed his cry with a shrug, but returned a more serious reply. "But if you're planning on making future enchantments, you should be more specific and considerate of the wording."

"Oh, because you haven't told me that at least a hundred times by now." He spat at her, shaking out his wings and frowning. "Both you and Garroth. Why are you even in here!?"

"Garroth had sent a telepathic message to me." Stargazer began to explain, waving her hand at the air. "He told me all about the sudden murder in the family throne room, and how you had teleported away."

Zane bared his teeth. He didn't even try to display a poor effort of a mocking smile, he just bared teeth and a fearsome frown. He had always hated it when an older member of the family announced how many unapproved moves he made. He hated it even more when the younger got informed.

"Now... why did you run away?" Stargazer questioned him, a more serious tone to her voice as her facial expression stiffened. "Is it possible... that you, Líkúorianō Zane Ro'Meave, took part in the murder?"

"What I do is none of your business..." Zane growled, choking on his breath as he felt his wings shudder.

"To think that the God of Balance, Reality, Religion, and Mentality would take part in murder." She sighed with a shrug of her shoulders, before she picked up a silver ring with he head of a wolf. "Karma is going to tear your heart out, dear brother."

Quick side note; Zane, or better known in Aldroth as Líkúorianō, isn't just the God of Balance, Reality, Religion, and Mentality. He also watches over Fate, Emotion, Twilight, and Revenge.

"I am Karma." He hissed, his voice dropping to a deeper vocal setting as thick, transparent shadows cloaked over his forearms.

Stargazer didn't even look phased at the sudden ferocity of his voice, nor did she present any type of emotion. Her face was just as calm as it always was, with a scarce hint of amusement. She glanced sideways at an open urn made of clay, reaching in and pulling out a silver necklace with a round diamond in the center of the pendant. She clipped it around her neck, before she grinned menacingly.

"I almost forgot that were the watcher of that." Stargazer told him, her tail flicking. "Now... what am I?"

"You are Jade Mystinoma Drakura, the Goddess of the Night, Justice, War, Knowledge, and Stealth." Zane answered without hesitation, glaring into her eyes.

"... Very good." She replied slowly, closing her eyes and furrowing her brows. "But... you are aware of what you have done, are you not?"

Zane let out a scream of rage, balling his hands into fists. He jabbed them at her face repeatedly, not caring if he hurt her or not. Despite the lightning acceleration of his punches, all that was heard was the slicing of the air. His punches were forced to a pause, a strong grip on them.

Zane yelped in surprise, gritting his teeth as pain shot through his arms like flames licking up the bark of a tree. In fact, he was gritting his teeth so hard that he swore they were starting to move in the gums. He looked over his shoulder, only to be met by fiercely narrowed cerulean blue green eyes.

"Alduin." Zane groaned through his teeth, yelping as a force was placed on his tail.

"Líkúorianō... you really should know better." Alduin, also known as Garroth, sighed with a tsk, shaking his head in disapproval. "Attacking our sister in such an informal and rude way.. you should be ashamed of yourself."

Zane swapped his gaze to the floor of his treasury, mentally cursing at the world he lived in. He hadn't remembered that Stargazer could read minds, and so he thought as Manny negative thoughts as possible.

"Well... now that most certainly was rude." She coughed out, frowning at him.

"Yes, I most certainly agree with you, sister." Diamond, the oldest sibling, hummed as she swept gracefully into the room.

"Líkúorianō..." Alduin started growling, letting go of his wrists.

Zane let out a breath he hadn't known he was holding, his gaze going to his wrists. Instead of the pale whiteness he naturally had, his wrists and half of his forearms were dark blue and purple, with small black polka dots studding them.

Damn... I forgot how strong he was, Zane thought with agony as his muscles were throbbing with pain.

It wasn't long when he noticed that Garroth seemed to be backing up. As he lifted his head and turned to face him, the powerful Wyvern came charging at him, full force.

Garroth had always been faster than him, or anyone younger than him for that matter. Zane was halfway convinced that he was even faster than Diamond, even faster than their parents! Even... no, that wouldn't be possible. No one was faster than... her.. except him.

With a spring of brutal pain, Zane went down to his knees, swearing repeatedly. Garroth, who seemed to be satisfied by the result, took a step back. He shifted his wings in the frame way he would shrug, circling around Zane.

"Well... you could use some work on that." Garroth murmured, coming to a halt and staring at Zane's forehead.

Zane glanced at the ceiling, where he could just see the rounded halo that floated above his head, made of unbreakable gold, washed in the scarce water of The Upside Down. It was one of the things that made Zane something to look at... something worth capturing. Sure, he had some of the strongest powers in Aldroth, as he was part of the godly family, but he almost never used them. He preferred to do things the way some of the others had to, the same way that those creatures he had been told stories about had to.

He growled quietly as Garroth reached down and tapped his halo, his claw making a scraping sound. That small fact wouldn't bother Zane, seeing as his halo couldn't break.

Unless someone with the exact same blood...

A whoosh of air blew in his face, and he caught a glimpse of gold whisk past his eyesight. Before he could even blink, a horrible sound entered his ears.

Cracking... and then a snap.

Slowly looking up, Zane saw the most horrible sight in his life.

Garroth was holding his halo... and he had snapped it in half.

"Long live the angel." Garroth chuckled with an evil smile, narrowing his eyes at Zane as he dropped the two pieces on the floor.

"G-Garroth... why...?" Zane choked on the sob, his voice breaking towards the end.

"Oh, please, Zane.." He sighed, before looking out the window.

"I.. I thought that...."

"Legends never die."
