Part 7
Sorry--this is a bit a of filler---need to move this along a bit
November 1992
I just got home from our first rehearsal. It's the day before Thanksgiving and been a whirlwind these last 2 weeks. This reunion came out of nowhere. Lindsey and Mick has prior obligations in the works before this came up, so our rehearsals over the next few weeks will be spotty at best. We are breaking now until next Wednesday. Truthfully, the time away will be good. I've been in my head lately, well since Lindsey showed up at my door. I didn't expect our first meeting after 5 years to go as well as it did. We are fiery, always have been. I was expecting some type of fight to erupt. Feuds in the studio carried over into the bedroom. I guess we've grown up a bit Those were the drug fueled days. Hell, be honest with yourself Stevie, that hasn't entirely changed now
Lindsey kissed me that first day. I didn't expect that. I've missed his kiss so much. Sure there have been other men, but it's not the same. I have never gotten over him and I truly don't think I ever will. Since he showed up at my house 2 weeks ago, we've spoken on the phone a few times, but today was the first time I saw him. I've pulled out my journals from 5, 10, 15 years ago. Lindsey Buckingham is intricately woven into the story of my life. I've noticed that even in the last 5 years when I haven't really seen him, he's still there.
My doorbell rings. I look at the clock on the mantle. It's 10:30. Early for me but who could that be? I wait for someone to answer but then remember I am home alone. I sent my assistant home to her family for Thanksgiving. Gave her some made up excuse about what I was doing. She knows I lied to her but she left anyway. I make my way to the door and lookout the window. What on earth is he doing here.
"Lindsey? Is everything okay?"
"Steph, hi, sorry to just drop by like this. I hope I am not interrupting anything" I smile as I realize he looks nervous.
"No, just me. It was a crazy day. Weird being with everyone again. I am different now. I feel different now. Just trying to get my thoughts together and regroup" I realize we are still standing in the foyer. "I am sorry, come in. Can I get you anything"
"I am fine. How are you doing?" Small talk. We are doing small talk. We don't do small talk I think as we walk back into the living room. I sit down on the sofa and wrap myself up in my blanket. He smiles. "You are always cold." I am feeling settled and comfortable with him. It's making me uncomfortable and I don't know why. What does he want?
"Linds, is everything okay? I know this is a weird time for us, but I thought we were doing okay? I know this is an adjustment and weird and we aren't on the best terms, but I thought we got off to a really good start. Today was good right?" I am rambling. I know it, he knows it. He smiles and shakes his head and come sits next to me on the sofa.
"Stevie, stop. Nothing is wrong. I just wanted to see you. Today was great. I am sorry to drop by like this, unannounced. After I left the studio I drove around. Some of our old haunts. Anyway. I know you said you have plans tomorrow, for Thanksgiving, I mean, but , I am not buying it. You are still a crap liar Nicks". And he chuckles.
I look at him with a mixture of amusement and confusion, and probably embarrassment. A lot of embarrassment.
"I heard you telling Christine what your Thanksgiving plans were and like I said, not buying it. So Nicks--What are we doing tomorrow?"
