Chapter 1
"Today there will be no dearly beloved, no betrothed, and no ancient rhyme of the married. Today there are no dead languages to solemnize vows that are very much alive and will remain so for a lifetime... Today promises become permanent and friends become family." The priest says as he looks at the beautiful bride with long black hair and the handsome groom with slicked back short blonde hair. He takes a deep breathe, "However, this day is not about the words spoken or the rings exchanged, nor is it about grand pronouncements and recessional marches. This day – the day of Jesse and Lukas' wedding – is about love. One of my favorite authors once wrote, 'If love is not all, then it is nothing: this principle, and its opposite, collide down all the years of my breathless tale.' Jesse and Lukas, your breathless tale is about to begin. If love is not all, then it is nothing. Its opposite – If love is all, then it is everything – is going to be the basis for every aspect of your relationship. All you have to do is simply love one another and that love shows through in everything you do for one another, how you treat each other, in good times and bad." Jesse holds onto Lukas' hand and he squeezes it. They both have a smile on their face. "Love isn't just a word; it's an action. Love isn't something you say, it's something you do. Love is genuine, honest, and open, compassionate and kind, passionate and blind, love doesn't know space or time, nor look through jealous eyes, and in the modified words of Paul in his letter to the Corinthians, 'Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, and endures all things. Love never dies.' There are many different kinds of love, almost if not all of which are represented here today. There is romantic love, the love of parents and children, of brothers and sisters and family, and love among friends." Jesse and Lukas both turn their heads and look behind them. All of their friends were there, but so were their parents and their siblings. Jay looks at Jesse and smiles widely. Lukas looks at his younger siblings; Adam and Nikki. They both had tears in their eyes. "Not only do Jesse and Lukas love one another romantically – and they do, you can see it in every look, every touch, every moment they're together – they also love one another as friends. In fact, they're best friends, constantly giggling and taunting and teasing and very plainly and obviously having fun together. That love and enjoyment of each other as best friends will sustain them through this marriage. In addition, the love collectively in this room, from friends and family, will help sustain and support the promises they make today. All of us here will help solidify this bond, as these two individuals are joined as husband and wife." Jesse could feel the butterflies in her stomach as she looked back at the priest. Lukas keeps on holding her hand and Jesse holds onto the white and pink roses in her other hand. "This new journey will be at times richly rewarding and extremely difficult, but, most importantly, it will be a journey you take together. Marriage is much more than your signatures on a legal contract. You are promising, in front of all these people you love, that you want to be with each other and only each other for the rest of your lives, and that you will do everything in your power to honor the promises you are making here today. For their part, the people who love you will also do everything in their power to try to help you hold up your end of the bargain." The priest looks at Lukas and holds his bible before saying, "Lukas, do you take this woman to be your wife, to live together in holy matrimony, to love her, to honor her, to comfort her, and to keep her in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?" Lukas smiles widely, "I do." The priest then looks at Jesse, "Jessica, do you take this man to be your husband, to live together in holy matrimony, to love him, to honor him, to comfort him, and to keep him in sickness and in health, forsaking all others, for as long as you both shall live?" Jesse blushes red and smiles as she says, "I do." Lukas looks at Jesse and holds her hand tightly before pulling out a gold and diamond ring, "We may not have always gotten along when we first met and my friends and your friends were enemies... But when everyone showed me hate, you had shown me kindness and you have stuck by my side though it all. You support me in everything I do and you always try to make sure we do the right thing. I love you Jesse, and I always will." Lukas puts the ring on Jesse's left hand ring finger then Jesse pulls out a golden ring with an emerald in the gold, "Lukas, I love you. You are my best friend... the love of my life and you have been in my life for so long and I just can't imagine life without you! You have my back and you always try to protect me. You have shown me your love and that you will do anything to make me happy." Jesse puts the ring on his left ring finger then they both hold hands, "You may now kiss the bride." The priest smiles then Lukas and Jesse both lean forward and share a kiss, sealing their vows.
A few hours pass and Lukas and Jesse are sitting at a table with all of their friends and family. Lukas holds onto Jesse's hand before feeding her a small piece of cake. Jesse also feeds him a piece of cake then Jay stands up and holds a wine glass. He clears his throat and smiles, "Ahem. I would like to make a toast. To Jesse and Lukas! May they always make each other happy and may they live the best life. Together!" Everyone raises their wine glasses and says, "To Jesse and Lukas!" Then everyone gets quiet as they all start to drink. Jesse looks at Lukas and smiles, "I love you." She kisses him. "I love you more." He smiles and holds her close then a familiar red-head walks over to Lukas and Jesse, "Your horse is ready and your honeymoon is all set up. I hope you two have a good time." Petra winks then the newly weds both turn bright red. Lukas mutters under his breathe, "oh, we will..~" but it was only loud enough for Jesse to hear it. He stands up then picks Jesse up bridal style. Jesse gasps then bursts into giggles as he carries her away. He puts her on the pure white horse then he gets on the white horse. They both look back and everyone waves at them and says things like, "Congratulations!" "We love you!" "We hope you have a good honeymoon!" "We'll see you soon!" Jesse kisses Lukas' cheek then they both ride off in the direction of their destination; The giant city of Minecraftia.
