The Time After
You think that everyone is good with you. You think that whatever shit is happening with you, it's just fine but it's not always and even if we desperately want to disagree with it, we can't cause the high school's shit is never fine. And if you think against it, then m'boy you need to replace your brain.
Today was the day, Westfield high would have its bad boy back. The bad boy, they thought was handsome with his voluminous hair and coloured eyes. They thought that he was a player and just like all the other cliche stories, would fall with one of the girls and then, his life will change forever. But they had no idea, how that bad boy had never learnt anything about love.
And probably they won't ever, cause looks fade everything beneath.
I pulled up my hood and raced pass the students staring widely at me. They knew nothing so how could they judge? Who were they to judge? Or put up posters like that? No! They can't. They shouldn't.
I gritted my teeth. I just wanted to see the soft board. Perhaps, the news Mia gave me is not true. Perhaps they were staring just like they always do. Perhaps I was wrong about it all. Perhaps if I just close my eyes, every thing will fall into place. Perhaps. . . just perhaps.
I knocked someone's shoulder but didn't bother saying sorry to him. My panic had risen up to my nerves. But I wanted to see.
When I reached there, a large number of students had gathered around the notice board gawking at what I didn't even want to think about. I pushed a girl who was jumping to get better view. 'Excuse me.' I said to a girl who was gossiping with her friend about it. I patted a boy's shoulder who was standing firm on his spot taking the whole view with his square shoulders—to give me space. He looked back, took in my appearance and nodded and finally stepped back.
I murmured him thanks and lifted my eyes to the notice board.
Suddenly all the air within me knocked out. I read every line, and looked at the picture. I swallowed. No, no no.
My breath hitched and my lips tremble. Finally he did what I never wanted him to. I took the paper pinned on the note board in my hand and crumpled it into a ball. Rage, mixed with sadness—penetrated through me.
I started pushing students away from my way, not ever bothering to say sorry or thank you's. It's enough! I thought. I can't tolerate it anymore.
I was battling in my mind to either go and find the person who did this or simply run away. But where would I go now? I had no place. He simply took everything from me as smoothly. Maybe I should call police but he'll feed them his money. Maybe I should call my mom and dad but then we'll be in a bigger problem. So. What was I left with? Nothing.
Lost in my thought, I crashed into someone's chest . He instantly placed his hands on my shoulders and pushed away in shoulder's length to look at me. 'Careful.' He hissed.
I didn't even think again. Flashes of every single circumstance happened to me because of him displayed before me. His piercing eyes that once attracted me—seem to me only a show in which he pretended—acted quite well. But now, I was tired of the drama he created. I regretted the moment I met him. I regretted the moment I thought he wasn't bad. I regretted the moment I thought it'll be okay and sat back on my couch instead.
So I did what I had to.
I slapped him forcefully across his cheek.
He tilted his head back from his left back to me as slowly as could. A smirk plastered on his face. 'That's all you can do?' He mocked.
I clenched and unclenched my hands into fists. I gritted my teeth. I bit my bottom lip to stop it from trembling. I took a deep breath to push back my tears.
But I knee on the floor as a tear slip down my cheek. I wanted to scream. To tell him not to think so low of me. To tell him what I was capable of but instead, I let him make all of the visions he was making. I didn't stop him.
Cause the truth was, I was helpless.
