Eclipse Lake
I called my friends to help me out one day. Why? Luz is sick with the Common Mold, a sickness that originates from the Boiling Isles. But out of all of us, Amity was the most concerned. "Peter, Willow, Alexa, have you gathered the supplies?" Amity asked. "Yes." Willow replied. "We're ready to attack this on all fronts." "With some help from Ghost and Gumbo." I added. "Great." Amity said. "Now, all we need is..." "Rain? Beach waves?" Gus asked. "Something called lo-fi beats to study and relax to?" King added. "We've got it all." "Eda was rummaging through her basement and gave us some soothing human noises." Gus explains. "That's great." Amity smiled. "Wait! Eda's still here?" "I thought I saw her in the living room." Alexa replied.
I went with Amity to check on Eda. "Eda, you're supposed to be helping Hooty build our defenses." Amity recalled. Eda was doing some kind of anime yell. "Mom, what the hell is this?!" I asked. "Ah, don't mind me. I'm just learning how to turn into Harpy Eda on command." Eda explains. "According to these human workouts, you just gotta scream a lot until you force your inner beast out." "This looks ancient." Amity said, looking at an anime dvd. "What? Nah! It's only, 30 years old?" Eda wondered. "I remember seeing this in theaters with Peter's father." "Yes, you're old. Who cares?" I asked. "We've got a crisis on our hands." Amity added. "Chill, bossy boots. Everything is fine." Eda said. "Wrong twin." I corrected.
"Does this seem fine to you?" Amity asked, showing Luz messing with her arms in our room. "Whoa! It's like I have snakes for arms." Luz said, almost like she was high. "Please. She just has the Common Mold. It's harmless." Eda scoffed. "Mom, she's a human." I explained. "We have no idea how it will affect her." "If I ate the portal key, would I return to the human realm?" Luz asked. Amity's abomination takes away the key before Luz could eat it. "I'm not giving this back until you're better, okay?" Amity asked as Luz pouted, but she sent her girlfriend a message on her tamagotchi. "Oh, uh, you got it." "Gotta admit, Amity, seeing you around more often is different." Willow said. "I know." Amity agreed. "But I was taught to see every situation as an opportunity. And today, I'll show Luz that I'm an awesome girlfriend." "Feels like just a few months ago, you almost got her dissected by your crazy principal." King remembered. "That was a few months ago." Gus commented as Luz screamed. "Luz!" Eda, Amity, and I shouted. "Mouse. Philip diary entry." Luz said.
After five years, I have finally found it. A power source so potent it can pierce through realms. Titan's Blood. There are old tales of lakes reflecting green trees and blue skies. The Titan's veins run through the land. And many believe that these wild portals are created when a little of its blood leaks into the water. That is how I came here. So that is the first place I shall look. I will journey back to Eclipse Lake.
"I have to go to Eclipse Lake!" Luz shouted, drawing Philip's map and tried to escape. "Luz, no! You are not well." Alexa said. "She is shockingly strong." Gus explains. "Alright, Luz. Peter, King, and I will get your Titan Blood if you just calm down." Eda explains. "Yes! Perfect chance to take our new powers for a test drive." King added. "Little bro, you just read my mind." I said. "Even though I can literally read your mind." "You guys are the best." Luz said. "I volunteer as well." Amity added. "As Luz's girlfriend, I must..." "I get it, Boots." Eda interrupted. "Just grab a coat." "Wrong again." Alexa commented. "Goodbye, my precious Willow Tree." I said, kissing my girlfriend and her palisman farewell. "We'll be back soon. You guys just watch over Luz. She thinks she has snakes for arms."
We followed the map from the diary entry to Eclipse Lake. "This place is crawling with tools." King said. "What gives?" "Titan Blood is the most powerful source of magic on the Isles." Eda explains. "I'm not surprised Belos wants it, too." "Well, we can't afford to mess this up." Amity said. "Luz is counting on me." "You mean, us." I corrected. All of a sudden, a scout fell from a tree above. "A coven scout!" Amity gasped. "Uh, yes." I heard a familiar voice say. "I am but a humble scout and I surrender." "Well, that was easy." King said. "Not so fast, King." Eda warned. "Don't you recognize that annoying voice?" "Why does everyone say that?" He asked before running away. "Don't let him get away!" Eda shouted as Amity tied him up with abomination goop. "This is none other than Belos's right hand man." "The Golden Guard?" Amity asked. "Nah. More like Hunter the Golden Bastard, but you're on the right track." I corrected. "He is a lot scrawnier than I imagined." Amity said, making me and King laugh while Hunter grunted with anger.
We burst into the cave, kinda like the Kool-Aid Man, to look for that Titan's blood. "Did I do it?" Eda asked. "Did I go into harpy mode?" "No, you just screamed hoot and ran headfirst into a wall of ice." King explains. "Pretty funny, actually." "But, you could be a Boiling Isles version of the Kool-Aid Man." I added. "You can put down your staff now." Hunter said to Amity. "I won't run." "Too bad, because I don't trust you." Amity replied. "This looks old." Eda commented. "Ancient witches used to mine the veins for Titan's Blood." Hunter explains. "They're not paying attention." Amity said. "Just do it." Eda explains in range of a huge drill. "Maybe the adrenaline will kick in, and bam, Harpy Eda." "Wait, don't!" Hunter warned as King fired off a beam, ricocheting across the cave, coming towards Amity, Hunter, and I. "Shit!" I gasped, stopping the beam with abomination magic. "Whoa, you might have some competition, Blight, because this guy has abomination powers." "This isn't a normal cave." Hunter explains. "These walls are made from the veins of the Titan. Any magic you shoot will bounce right back at you." "Oh, you must be fun at parties." Eda teased. "Hey, King. How about you use your new powers to echolocate the lake." "Okay." King replied, doing exactly that. "Those two are definitely gonna get us caught." Hunter sighed. "Us?" Amity asked. "There is no us. Now keep walking." "You know, Luz and Peter told me about a trip to Latissa where they met someone very interesting." Eda explains. "Yup, a beat-up blond with no magical powers." I replied. "Luz called him, a bad but sad boy." Eda and King laughed along with me. "If I ever see that human again..." Hunter threatened. "Watch it." Amity snarled. "At least I'm not delusional enough to think I can turn into a harpy." Hunter insults. "Fuck off!" I snapped, flipping him off. "No one insults my mom, you dick!" "Hey, c'mon, give it a rest, you two." King said, trying to break up the fight. "Yeah, listen to your rat." Hunter added as King began pulling his hair. "Shh." Amity shushed us as we see Kikimora and some scouts from below. "Why are we stopping?" Kikimora asked. "Is it The Golden Guard." "No, ma'am. This is a dangerous area." One of the scouts replied. "We have to move carefully." "Careful takes too long!" Kikimora complained. "My butt is on the line, and so help me Titan, if you ruin this, I will throw you off the tallest peak of the knee with a smile." "Oh, that poor girl is going through something." Eda said. "She's also blocking the path to Eclipse Lake." Amity added. "We should create a distraction." Hunter suggested. "You kids wait for my signal." Eda explains, leaving us alone. "Huh, that was easy." Hunter said. "When they're caught, you and I can take the Titan Blood for ourselves." "Stop talking like we're a team." I rolled my eyes. "We might as well be." Hunter commented. "The Owl Lady and her pet have nothing at stake, unlike us." "Not another word about my family, you bastard!" I grunted. "You have no idea what you're talk..." Amity said as her tamagotchi chimed. "I was gonna say that you have no..." She looked at the tamagotchi, but couldn't understand the message from Luz. "Oof. That doesn't look good." Hunter sighed. "Stay back!" Amity snapped. "But what doesn't look good?" "Seems clear to me." Hunter replied. "Come back with results or else... you can probably make out the rest." "No. Luz wouldn't make that kind of threat." Amity explains. "Amity's an awesome girlfriend to Luz." I added. "Has she told you that?" Hunter asked Amity. "We have a lot in common, Blight. We're both trying to show what we can bring to the table. And we can't fail because there's nothing worse than disappointing someone who thinks you're special." Amity casts a spell circle as her shot ricocheted across the cave. "Why didn't you wait for our signal?" Eda asked. "We don't have time to play around." Amity explains. "We are getting that Titan Blood."
As we continued through the tunnels, we possibly found the veins. "Is this Titan's Blood?" I asked. "But, Eclipse Lake is farther ahead." Amity explains. "Who cares? We did it!" King cheered. "Stop!" Hunter shouted. "That's Fool's Blood. Don't touch it." "Oh, so you can keep it all for yourself?" Eda asked. "Hard pass." She cracked open the blood, which caused some cracks in the ground. Her and King fell into the cracks. "No!" Amity and I shouted, getting on her staff. "Wait! Take me with you!" Hunter begged as Kikimora was almost here. "At least untie me so I can escape. Please. I don't wanna be replaced." "Fine." Amity hesitated, but still freed Hunter. "So, where will you go now?" I asked. "Now..." Hunter paused before kicking us in the legs and running off. "I get to Eclipse Lake before anyone. Byeeee!" "That bastard!" I cursed. "Oh, would you look at this, Captain." Kikimora said, pointing a dagger at us. "We found our little fire starters."
The scouts surrounded us to make sure Amity and I couldn't escape. We told them about Hunter. "So, the Golden Guard is also looking for Titan's Blood, and he took off to Eclipse Lake. I knew it! That little snake is always making me look bad. Well, now I can get my revenge!" "Ma'am, what about the Titan Blood?" The Captain asked. "Oh, yes. I'll get that, too." Kikimora replied, changing the Abomaton into a mine cart. "This is going to be a good day." "What should we do with the kids?" The Captain asked. "Oh, I don't care. Kikimora said, driving off, leaving us with the Captain. "So, uh, did you come here with anyone else?" She asked. "Ugh, this is boring!" She threw us down the hole. Luckily, Eda and King caught us before we could hit the ground. "Guys, you're okay!" Amity exclaimed. "Just barely." Eda replied. "Owlbert is knocked out, so we can't fly." "I'm just, like, throwing it out there, but this would be a great time to bring out Harpy Eda. "I don't know how!" Eda complained. "I've tried yelling at it, scaring it." Owlbert whined in pain. "Did you ever think about talking to it?" I suggested. "I guess I didn't, but hey, it's a wild animal." Eda replied. "You thought I was a wild animal once." King recalled as the staff was barely holding on. "Okay, I'll try, just give me a second." Eda said. "What? You wanna make a deal? Wait. I don't know if I can. Okay, I'll do it, just change now!" Eda went into Harpy mode and helped us escape. "What did you promise it to do?" King asked. "I don't wanna talk about it." Eda replied. "I can't wait to see a real life mine cart chase." King squealed. All of a sudden, we saw Kiki and the scouts wincing in pain. "Guess mine cart chases are a lot more dangerous than video games make them seem." "I've taught you well, little brother." I said as Amity grabbed her palisman. "There it is!" Amity shouted as an Abomaton grabbed Eda's leg. "I don't know who you freaks are, but that blood belongs to Kikimora!" The Captain shouted, tossing us to the ground. "Get to the lake." Eda said. "I'll take care of..." The Abomaton threw her against the wall. "Eda!" King and I shouted as we followed Amity to the lake.
Once we got to Eclipse Lake, there was no lake. All we could see was Hunter digging in the ground. "Hunter?" I asked. "Don't worry, I won't pick a fight. There's no Titan Blood." Hunter replied. "Then why are you digging?" Amity asked. "Oh, it's simple really." Hunter chuckled. "Belos needs Titan Blood to make a new portal key. Can't get to the Human Realm without it." "There's blood in the key?" Amity whispered. "Since I failed my last mission, I thought, "Hey, a chance to make up for it."" Hunter ranted. "But, I can't go back empty-handed. Not again. Long story short, this is my grave. Want me to make you guys one, too?" "This is really bumming me out." King said. "That's just life, rat." Hunter responded. "Everyone has a use, and if you don't, bye-bye. Your friend gets it." "Hunter, have you ever thought about going to therapy?" I asked. "I'm fine." Hunter laughed. "What's he talking about?" King questioned. "Luz has been sending me these strange human codes." Amity replied. "I don't understand all of them, but this one seems pretty clear. Come back with results, or we're done." "That doesn't sound like Luz." I explained, looking at the tamagotchi. "Wait a second." I rotated the device to the side to reveal a message. "U R rad." Amity read. "Fool's Blood bad. U okay? Come home." "Told ya. This is Luz we're talking about." I said. "I think she knows that you're a pretty damn good girlfriend." "Hey! Go find a better witch to be with." Hunter grunted at the red bird palisman while burying his head in the dirt. "You know, you were right. We do have a lot in common." Amity said. "I grew up thinking that everything was an opportunity to justify existing, but there are people out there who won't make you feel worthless. You just have to let yourself meet them." Amity and I reached our hands out. Hunter got up from the ground, but it wasn't to form a truce. "What are you..." I wondered, until we realized he saw the portal key and tried to steal it. "Oh, fuck!" "Oh, come on!" Amity complained. "Being nice usually works for Luz!" King tried using his power, but it was blocked by Hunter's palisman. "These staffs are weird." Hunter said. I cast multiple illusions to throw him off. He used his staff to fire off at the illusions as we started to escape. Amity and I used our abominations to help us fight Hunter. "You really wanna help, then gimme that key!" Hunter yelled. His palisman broke the chain, but Amity was lucky enough to catch the key. "Listen, you're both strong, and I'm tired. If this continues, you'll probably escape, but here's the thing: we know where to find you, and your human. So, just hand over the key." Amity gasped, clutching onto the key harder than needed. "Fine." Amity sighed, giving Hunter the key. "Just stay away from Luz." "Appreciate it." Hunter said. "I, uh, mean that too." As he escaped, Eda flew in. "Haha, yes! I heard fighting. I'm ready to go." Eda explains. "Where's the nerd?" I went to get King unstuck before we left.
Once we returned home, Eda got stuck in the door. Amity, King, and I tried to pull her inside. "Ow, one of you just get an elixir!" Eda complained as Gus, Willow, Alexa, and Luz, who was feeling much better, came to check on her. "I got into harpy mode, and now I can't get out." "She also ate, like, nine voles on the way home." I added. "Hey, I had to keep up my end of the bargain." Eda explains as we finally got her through the door. "Amity!" Luz exclaimed, hugging Amity. "I'm so glad my awesome girlfriend is okay." "Me too." Amity replied, returning the hug. "No King hug? What is this?" King asked. "You are a swindler and a thief!" "Come here, buddy." Luz said as her and I pulled him into a group hug. "I regret this!" King shouted. I released from the hug and accidentally bumped into Willow. "I'm glad you're safe, Pete." Willow said. "I was worried about you." "I'm alright." I replied, kissing her. "You don't ever have to worry."
