She was out of her mind. Eva was becoming surer of that with every passing second.

If not, why would she be behind the wheel of the borrowed Subaru tailing Adam Garcia's Land Rover while they rode down the road leading to his cabin?

Right before bed two nights ago, she'd winced at the cowardly way in which she'd bolted on Adam using her mother as an excuse just so the man couldn't sweet talk her into agreeing to do some of the things she'd always considered insane.

But she'd woke up the next morning, feeling a new surge of spunk, and had immediately sent Adam a text before it'd dissipated, and they'd met at a restaurant to talk that night.

Adam had offered to tutor her for a few days, but that would require her coming to live at his cabin for the designated time.

Deep down, she knew she'd always wanted to try extreme sports. Talking with Adam had been the perfect jolt she'd needed, and she had girded up her loins for whatever this would require.

But now that she was here, looking out through her window at the huge mountains, she wondered if turning and hightailing it out of there wasn't the best option.

Adam took a bend, and she followed the same direction to find his car parked in front of a cozy-looking cabin. She stopped her car beside his and dragged in a deep breath.

You can face every challenge, Eva. The fear is all in your mind.

She had to smile at the fact that she was repeating Adam's words until a light knock on the window on the other side drew her attention. She looked at Adam who gestured in a what's up manner.

She opened her door and got down, and before she could head over and grab her duffel bag containing a week's worth of clothes, Adam had already opened the backseat door and plucked it out.

"You didn't have to do that." She grimaced at him over the roof of her car.

"Ah, just say thank you." He said cockily, and they began to stroll towards his place.

Located in the heart of Jackson hole and surrounded by hills, craggy rocks, and gargantuan trees with cold breeze whistling by, the birds singing melodiously, and water rushing through the creek that run alongside the structure, it was a cabin through and through.

Adam stopped beside her when they stopped in front of the stairs leading up to the porch. "What do you think?"

"I think I should probably grab my bag from you and race out of here." She shuddered as she thought of the crazy Mount climbing videos she'd watched.

"Exactly why you wanted us to get two cars instead of one. So that you could run away anytime you wanted."

"Of course not!" Eva shrieked, feeling like a deer caught in the headlight.

"Scaredy cat." His voice was filled with a teasing rumble she found all too alluring as he lead the way up the stairs.

"This place is beautiful." She breathed in the crisp, cool mountainside air and soaked in the breeze.

"Welcome to my paradise."

The cabin was painted an off-white color. The stairs and the floors of the porch were made from polished wood, and white wooden railing barricaded the porch. A large net hammock dangled, secured to the thick porch posts.

The state of the wood and the whole structure of the place made it obvious it wasn't ancient.

He gave her a sidelong glance as he rummaged through the pocket of the thermal jacket he was wearing, which she frankly considered to be too light for this kind of weather, even though they were in Jackson Hole's usual last month of snowfall.

"Just in case you are wondering, I had this place built five years ago."

"Why such a secluded place though?" She asked, curiosity sparked.

He looked around him and let out a breath, seemingly of bliss. "This place just offers so much peace, not to talk of the easy access to outdoor activities. I love to hide here when I need to rejuvenate my spirit, especially when the..."

At his pause, she glanced at him, just in time to catch a glimpse of his stunned look just before he slipped on an impassive mask, dropping some kind of invisible shield between them.

What the hell was that?

Before Eva could assess things, he'd already strolled towards the door, a bunch of keys in hand while he engaged the locks.

His backside view had her swallowing a breath. Just like that, her need to question why he'd suddenly stopped his statement backfired, and she leaned against the wooden railing, shamefully admiring him.

Even though he was dressed in a somewhat thick top, it did nothing to hide the emphasis of his bulging muscles. She'd seen several pictures of him shirtless and God was he rugged.

An outdoor man through and through, he had a body sculpted from years of strenuous exercises and his business which catered to extreme sports and outdoor activities.

An olive skin tanned from a lot of time being under the sun, a risk taker who was tempting her to take a walk on the wild side with him.

She stuffed her hands into her jacket pocket to while away the cold. "You Hispanic, right? Your skin..."

Finding the right key, he placed it through the whole and turned the lock. "Hispanic father, white mother."

Well, they certainly have blessed genes, she thought, but instead, she said, "Thought as much."

Adam nudged the door into the cabin, and it gave way with a light creak. He grabbed the luggage and the grocery bags he'd set down, and without giving her a chance to help, stepped inside the cabin.

Eva tailed behind him into the space just as he found the switch on the wall. Bright light flooded the room, displaying quite an impressive view. In one sweeping glance, she was able to ascertain the layout of the room.

There was a kitchen to her right. A corridor led to the living room from the other end, hosting three rooms, one on the right wing and two on the left, one of which she assumed was the bathroom.

For an unknown reason, she'd expected an austere decor, but she was glad to find the place tastefully decorated in oak, off-white tones, and Spanish-style sculptures.

Two plush cream-colored sofas adorned the living room to whose left a fireplace was set, and the floor was carpeted in a beautiful blue plaited Persian rug.

"Nice place." She commented.

"Just tell me I have great taste."

"Do you always have to be so cocky?" She asked him as he set the stuff in the middle of the living room. "You're the only one who comes here?"

"Mostly. But sometimes my friends come here, and also my brother."

"Your brother does extreme sports too?" She moved further into the room, wondering whether the penchant for risk-taking ran in his family.

"Who? The better-safe-than-sorry?" He chuckled, looking back at her, and his eyes lighted up with warmth, seemingly at the thought of his brother.

"He'd rather be on a yacht cruising with his girlfriend. But don't worry. I'm grooming him into becoming more adventurous."

She snorted in mock distaste. "I think I should rather worry that you are grooming him."

He chuckled again, swiveling to fully face her. "Can you help me here, stock the perishables in the fridge while I go back to my car to get my camera paraphernalia?" He jutted his chin towards the kitchen.

"You brought your equipment?"

"Yep." He nodded, biting his lips, something she found too damn fascinating, like all the other things about this man. "Been a while since I last took pictures of mother nature, especially when I have a sexy woman as company."

He winked at her before walking past her. That made Eva wonder just about how many women he'd tutored on extreme sports. And the fact that she possibly wasn't the first woman he'd brought here stung, shocked her.

Blowing away the unsolicited reaction, she grabbed the bag of groceries and proceeded to the kitchen. The place was just as she expected a man's kitchen to be.

Tiled floors, a somewhat narrow tiled counter, two dish cabinets pinned to the wall, and an electric stove counter below which were another set of cabinets.

The dining table was set just beside the counter, and the refrigerator stood in a corner of the room. Prying the fridge open, she was surprised to find that it didn't emanate the scent of stale, warm air that fridges that hadn't been operated for a while had to.

The fridge was divided into two parts, and she began stocking the shelves of the top part with canned, bottled, and rubber-wrapped perishables before filling the low parts with food commodities: vegetables, fruits, meat, and the likes.

She suddenly had an intuition that someone was behind her and quickly spun around. Her jolted heart sagged back into her ribcage when she realized it was Adam.

"A tendency to scare people from behind, have we?" She said sarcastically. Done putting everything inside, she grabbed a bottled orange juice and closed the fridge.

"No, just those who get easily scared at everything." He was leaning on the doorframe, hands tucked into his pants pocket.

Rolling her eyes, she twisted off the cap of the bottle and drank her fill of the delectable juice to soothe her parched throat.

He reached for the bottle just when she was going to put the rest in the fridge, and then proceeded to chuck down the rest.

Eva had to look away at the way his Adam's apple bobbed so enthrallingly. Funny that he was called Adam and she was called Eva. The man had joked about how their matching names meant they were meant to be bed buddies.

"So what are the extreme sporting opportunities here? What are some of the things we will be doing?" She asked him after he'd set the bottle aside.

"Believe me, we are going to be doing a lot of things together." His gaze streaked across her body, and in that one scratching glance, she felt as if he'd stripped her naked. She shivered, and her nipples hardened instantly.

The man had made it more than obvious that he wanted her, that he would greedily take her given the opportunity, and Eva suddenly questioned the wisdom of spending a whole week with him, especially in this remote cabin.

As much as she wanted to deny it, the attraction and sexual awareness between them was undeniable.

Not to mention the dream she'd had last night of the two of them kissing furiously on a snow-carpeted cliff, just about undressing each other.

Which had startled her, considering that for the past nearly four months, all her erotic dreams had only starred her and the no-name, no face, hot stranger who'd kissed her at the New Year's Eve party.

"So why don't we start with hiking right now?" She quickly suggested to parry the tension that'd thrummed in the air.

A snort left his nose. "We just arrived after a long drive. Just get some rest, I don't need you passing out on me while we're navigating the steep slopes."

Eva jammed her hands on her jean-clad hips at the provocative insinuation, glaring at the man. "Try me."

He paused and gave her an assessing glance before an amused smile touched his lips. "Fine. Let's see what you are made of."
