Why did they choose to count using base ten, it could have just as easily been eight or nine?
I mean look how successful base two has been, where would our computer age be without binary, if you ask me, it works fine.
As did hexadecimal, the latter I believe has something to do with six, but what the heck I ain't got a clue.
Did you know that in about 825 AD a Persian mathematician Musa-Al-Khwarizmi used a little circle as a symbol of zero in his mathematical operations, this is true.
It makes you wonder how the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans were able to count from one to ten.
I had to look this up and found that the Egyptians were counting in blocks of ten as far back as three thousand BC but had no concept of a decimal then.
The strange thing is they wouldn't have known the age of a child three or four years old, they never counted time, imagine a life without birthdays.
It's no wonder we say 'It is all Greek to me' when we do not understand, I spent no more than seven minutes yesterday, trying to understand their system, waved my arms in the air and gave up, same as always.
I will not keep on about this all day, but did you know that Americans have more in common with the Romans than the Senate, they keep tallies by groups of five, the Romans do it with ten vertical lines and strike out with an X.
My last words on this are, it appears that Persians (Iranians) are a lot smarter than we give them credit for, but sadly for this shoddy piece of work, my history teacher marked my work with an X.
