A week later

Ace was laying in bed texting you. He couldn't stop thinking about that day you kissed his cheek. It was so innocent but affected him so much and he couldn't understand why. After he dropped you off at home he couldn't sleep at all that night.

"What is wrong with me? I need to see her"

"Sure, kinda bored anyway"-(y/n)

Ace hopped out of bed and made sure he looked ok before leaving to get you. He was so excited to hang out since it's been a couple of days since he last saw you. One thing he hopes for is that you would trust him enough to talk about what's bothering you. He promised himself he wouldn't force anything on you though.

On your end though, you were also making sure you looked nice for Ace. You were still putting your plan into motion and making him fall for you, it was just a little awkward sometimes. At least you've gotten a little comfortable with it though.

You heard a knock on your door and rushed to get it before your dad did.

"I got it!" You took a deep breath and opened the door with a smile. "Hi"

Ace couldn't help but look you up and down. You looked really pretty and it made him nervous. "Hey, you ready?"

You nodded and followed him to his car.

"So, what's the plan?"

"I was thinking of a nice relaxing evening at the cliff"

"I almost forgot about that place. Is our tree house still there?"

"Yeah, Luffy kept it cleaned up just for you."

"Aww what a sweetheart he is~"

Ace parked the car at your destination and held his hand out for you when you got out.

"Ready for the walking part?"

You blushed and took his hand. "Ready as I'll ever be"

Ace walked with you through the woods, hand in hand. "Do you even remember how we found this place?"

"I think Luffy found it when we played hide and seek one time. Dadan was babysitting us that day."

"Thats right! She was so mad." Ace chuckled at the memory. "You know she still lives in the same place. She was a drinking mess after your accident."

"I wish I could remember what happened. I have some bits and pieces of the crash itself but I don't remember why I was on the car or where I was going."

"It'll take time. We're always here for you though." Ace said as he held a branch out of the way for you so you could walk through.

You walked out and came face to face with the cliff that had a wonderful view of the ocean. One of your favorite places. You sat down on the grass and looked out at the view as Ace sat next to you, very close if I might add.

Ace watched your expression with a dreamy smile. He loved seeing this side of you and wanted to be the cause of it. You smirked and looked at him. "Ace, enjoy the view."

"I kinda like this view better" Ace said honestly, making her blush madly.

"Ace..." You looked into his eyes as he looked at yours. He glanced down at your lips, remembering the small and innocent kiss you gave him.

'Maybe a little payback won't hurt' He thought to himself, leaning in he kissed your cheek.

Suddenly, more memories came floating back as you grasped your head in pain.

"(y/n)?!"

You wondered around your room, trying to make a decision.

Eventually, you made the decision you wanted and got in your car

While you were driving you were so distracted you ran a red light.

Distracted by the thought of him, the thought of you on your way to confess to him.

You looked up at Ace with tears in your eyes.

"I...I'm ok"

"What happened?" Ace put a hand on your back worriedly.

"Just a headache. Been having those a lot recently" You lied and wiped your tears away.

Ace gave you a serious look.

"You're lying. Why are you lying? What's going on with you?"

"Nothing. I'm fine" You stood up and tried to walk away but he grabbed your arm and pulled you back into him, holding you close.

"Please, you can trust me."

"It might ruin our friendship."

"It won't, I promise." Ace caressed your cheek as you sighed.

"I don't believe you"

"Why can't you trust me?"

"Ace, stop!"

"No, I'm serious, what's so bad that you feel the need to hide everything from me?!"

"My memories came back!"

Ace froze and didn't know if he was ready for this but he stayed silent and listened to you.

He wanted to know.

"You aren't gonna see me the same after this so I might as well tell you everything I guess. See, back then I had a huge crush on you. On the day of my accident, I left my house to go confess to you. I got distracted and ran a red light."

You paused and watched him as he let you go, continuing with the story.

"You know how I told you in my coma it felt like I was in another world? It really did feel like my reality. I thought everything I had was real for 5 years. I thought my relationship with you was real. Our first date, our first kiss, us moving in together, the day you said 'I love you,' but It was all a lie" You teared up at the memories of your fake relationship. "I loved you Ace and not even a coma could change that....!"

Ace didn't know what to say. He had so many things running through his mind at the moment.

You loved him.

He was the cause of your accident

He made you miss 5 years of your life.

It was his fault.

"A-Ace?"

"I-I...I was the cause of your accident..."

"Ace, no, you weren't. It was me not paying attention."

"And why was that? It was because of me! Why did you have to love a bastard like me?!"

"Because I did! And I don't regret it. I wish you could see yourself the way I do."

Ace teared up and hugged you, falling to his knees with you. "(Y/n)..."

You hated that he blamed himself. But I guess it was time he knew...

You still don't know if he loves you back.
