Chapter 45 - The Baby Plot

Celeste's POV

"Joshua..."

"Guys, please," Tristan intervened when Joshua and I were about to fight. "Celeste, you're going home to rest. It isn't up for discussion. Joshua, tell Mark to drop her off," he stated in a bossy tone. Joshua nodded and gave me a victorious smirk. I gritted my teeth, giving Joshua a dirty look before nodding at Tristan.

I was putting my phone into my bag when someone knocked on the door and opened it. It was Mark. He greeted me politely and told me that Joshua asked him to drop me off. I nodded, grabbing my bag, and we left the office.

I was looking through the window, lost in my thoughts while Mark was driving. I placed my hand on my belly, unable to stop thinking about the possibility of being pregnant. I had almost every symptom, yet the pregnancy test result was negative.

"Could it be wrong?" I mumbled under my breath, ruffling my hair.

"What, Ms. Marshall?" Mark asked, looking at me in the rearview mirror.

"Umm... Nothing," I said nervously, pulling my hand away from my belly quickly. "Umm... Could you drop me off the hospital, please?"

"Do you feel bad again, Ms. Marshall?" he asked worriedly.

"No. I just want to get a check-up," I assured him. He nodded and made a U-turn.

I was playing with the strap of my bag nervously while waiting for my blood test result. Suddenly, my phone rang, interrupting my thoughts. I pulled my phone out of my bag and looked at the screen. It was Joshua.

Did Mark tell him he dropped me off the hospital?

"Do you feel bad?" Joshua asked, concerned as soon as I picked up the phone.

Mark!

"No. I just..."

"I know you didn't go to the doctor after I left," he said, annoyed. "I talked to the doctor a few minutes ago."

"Joshua..."

"I'm coming there. Don't go anywhere. We'll see the doctor together. So you won't run from a check-up again," he stated, determined and hung up the phone without letting me say anything.

"Damn it!" I exclaimed under my breath.

A few seconds later, the nurse informed me that the doctor was waiting for me. I took a deep breath and went to her room while my heart was pounding like crazy.

Twenty minutes later, I left the doctor's office in daze. Her words still repeated in my mind.

Congratulations! You're pregnant!

As my steps were unsteady, I sat down on a vacant seat. I had no idea how I was going to tell Joshua I was pregnant with his child. If he didn't want the baby, what would I do? My parents were already angry at us because we got married without telling them. If I told them I was pregnant and Joshua didn't want anything to do with the baby, my father would kill Joshua. Massimo would gladly help my father to do it.

And then there was Hazel. How would I explain to her that I was carrying her brother's baby and that I was married to him, but I hided it from her? If I added that, Joshua didn't want the baby, she would be furious. If my father and Massimo didn't kill Joshua, Hazel would do it in their place.

Maybe, Joshua would want this baby. Then it could be easier to tell them.

Oh my...

Damn you, Joshua Sullivan!

He purposely knocked me up!

One time I heard him talking to Kayden. Kayden was telling him that it was his only choice was got me pregnant. However, Joshua refused, telling Kayden he was crazy. Moreover, he always used protection. So I didn't think that he could do it. But that idiot knocked me up!

I took a few deep breathes, trying to calm down, and walked towards the exit.

As soon as I left the hospital, I saw Joshua walking towards me. He accelerated his pace, looking worried.

"Did you see the doctor? What did he tell you?" Joshua asked, concerned.

I gave him a dirty look without answering and walked away, bumping into his shoulder.

"Could you drop me off my apartment?" I asked Mark. I wasn't in the mood to wait for a taxi.

"Of course, Ms. Marshall." He nodded and opened the door for me.

I got into the car quickly and placed my hand on my belly, looking out the window at Joshua. Meanwhile, he was staring at me, dumbfounded. Then he gave Mark a questioning look. I turned my gaze away from him and rubbed my forehead, feeling the dull throb of headache creeping in.

Once Mark started the car, I saw Joshua rushing towards his car. A few minutes later, my phone started ringing. I pulled it out of my bag and looked at the screen. It was Joshua. I declined the call, cursing at him under my breath.

As much as I declined his calls, he kept calling. Then I turned off the phone angrily and threw my phone into my bag. After that, Joshua called Mark.

"Mr. Sullivan wants to talk to you," Mark informed me, extending the phone towards me.

I grabbed his phone and hang up the phone, leaving Mark in shock. "I don't want to talk to him, but your boss isn't capable to understand it," I commented bitterly, giving his phone back to him.

"Ms. Marshall..." The phone rang again.

"Turn it off, please."

"Ms. Marshall, I can't do it." He gave me an apologetic look and picked up the phone. "Yes... Fine." He extended the phone towards me, informing me that Joshua wanted to talk to me.

"I don't want to talk to him. Doesn't he understand?" I said loudly, making sure Joshua hear, and folded my arms over my chest.

Mark sighed, desperate and pulled his phone towards his ear. When he wanted to say something, Joshua hung up the phone.

As Mark parked the car in front of my apartment building, I thanked Mark and got out of the car quickly. Then, I saw Joshua parking his car behind Mark's car. I rushed towards the building without waiting for him.

I strode towards the elevator while Joshua kept calling me from behind. As soon as I walked into the elevator, I pressed the button. Fortunately, the doors closed before he arrived.

When I was about to walk into my apartment and close the door behind me, Joshua stopped the door from closing, out of breath, and pushed the door open.

"What happened, Celeste? Why are you running away from me?" Joshua asked, annoyed, resting his hands on his hips.

I gave him a dirty look, clenching my fist, and looked around, searching for something. As soon as I noticed a book on the table, I threw it at him. He bent down quickly. Then he straightened, glaring at me, his eyes blazing with anger.

"What the fuck?!" he snapped, furious, furrowing his eyebrows. "Are you crazy?"

"I hate you, Joshua Sullivan!" I exclaimed angrily.

"Why? What did I do this time?" he asked, annoyed.

"I know everything. I heard you," I replied dryly.

"What? I don't understand anything," he commented in confusion.

"I heard you talking to Kayden. Your plan to knock me up," I stated bitterly.

His face got paled instantly. I gave him a sarcastic look, shaking my head in disbelief while he was staring at me, frozen. I was barely holding myself from strangling him.

How could I trust this jerk?!

Damned Joshua!

"Celeste... I..." he mumbled uneasily, rubbing the back of his neck, and wanted to approach me.

"Don't come near me, Joshua Sullivan!" I demanded firmly.

Joshua frowned and heaved a loud sigh. "It was just that idiot's nonsense. Nothing more. I didn't do anything or plan to do," he stated firmly.

I let out a mocking laugh. Then I gritted my teeth, glaring at him. "Then why am I pregnant?" I asked in a sardonic tone.

His eyes widened in shock. A few minutes later, he sighed, running his hand through his hair. "Celeste, I didn't try to knock you up. Do you think I'll do what that idiot said?! Come on, babe. I didn't do anything. I always used a condom. If I planned to knock you up, then why did I used protection?" he commented calmly.

"Then why am I pregnant?" I asked sarcastically. "Don't lie to me, Joshua."

He heaved a loud sigh, running his hands through his hair. "Celeste, I didn't knock you up. I swear. So stop lying to me that you're pregnant. You can't make me confess it with your lie because I didn't do anything."

"Joshua Sullivan, I don't lie. I'm freaking pregnant with you baby. You knocked me up!" I exclaimed, annoyed.

How could he think I could lie about this?

"Celeste... Are you serious? Please tell me the truth," he asked, puzzled, raising his eyebrow.

"Yes, I'm serious. The doctor told me today," I replied in irritation.

"Fuck!" he mumbled under his breath and stared at me stomach with an unreadable expression on his face.
