Chapter 30
Chapter 30
"I'm waiting." I said tapping my foot, Aaron had just climbed to his feet when I got there, Levi and Leo just looked like William when he gets in trouble. "Aaron..." I looked to him.
"Ivory, please don't. Talk to them." He pleaded, rubbing his head. I sighed, I didn't realize it would leave him with a headache, I walked over to him and placed my hands on his head, pushing soothing comfort to him, Leo glowered but thankfully, weather out of respect or self-preservation Levi shut him up.
"I'm sorry Aaron, I didn't realize it would hurt you, I only meant to confuse you." He nodded.
"It's my wolf, he's not used to having someone other than me with him, he doesn't like the forced submission from Alpha to Luna." He sighed when I pulled back. I turned to Leo and walked up wrapping my arms around him, he stiffened at first but then relaxed.
"You were so angry my neck started burning."
"Frustrated baby, not angry." I sighed and pulled back.
"So why are you hiding a rouge from me?" Leo's face drained of color. "I'm not dumb Leo, that shed is where I was put when my execution was coming." Leo's eyes turned dark, still a sore subject. "Hey William saved my life that day, and I found you, I don't regret it."
"We found three rouges." Aaron huffed and Leo glared at him.
"Hey Aaron and me were against this, we said just kill them, you said you didn't want us risking anything for a rouge because you were a chance happening."
"Leo doesn't agree, he doesn't wasn't to go killing rouges, 'just in case'." Levi finished with air quotations.
"Fine! If it means so much to you, we build the holding area at least two miles from the pack house." Leo looked at me really weird. "Leo, I love you, if this means that much to you I support you. I just have stipulations, I talk to them..." He growled but I just continued. "And its not anywhere close to pack homes."
"I thought for sure you would pull his ear." Levi sounded more disappointed than relived.
"No, I am just hurt you thought you had to hide it from me." My voice came out small, I was more in my role of being free, but still when it came to some emotions I had a hard time coming through with them. Levi looked about as crushed as Leo did.
"I am so so sorry, Don't blame Levi I asked him to keep it quite." Leo looked at me longingly, I noticed when they thought I was angry or upset they never knew if they could touch me or not, I moved closer to him and pulled his lips to mine, he instantly pulled me closer, his lips were soft and apologizing. I pulled back and pecked his lips once more.
"Lets meet these rouges, if they are good we will decide from there, if not, kill them. We will start the plans when we discuss it with Alpha Logan." I started walking toward the smell of garbage and burnt wood. Two of the wolves were not shifted when I got to the large room where the rouges get killed. One was, he wasn't very old, but older than most rouges live to, maybe 30.
"Ivory wait!" Leo pulled my hand back. "I want to go in with you."
"Duh, I'm not going in on my own." I walked in with Leo at my heels, Levi following him.
"Whats your name?" Leo asked, I silenced him with a look. I met hundreds of rouges, maybe 50 that weren't pure evil and of that only a handful that were good. And none of them liked Alpha Attitude.
"Jon." He hissed, the two wolves looked uneasy. A sign that could be taken anyway. One wolf was smaller, the other standing in front of the small one protectively, still either way.
"Will you please shift." I said looking toward the wolves, the man growled.
"If your going to kill us get it over with." The man looked vaguely familiar.
"Do I know you?" I asked.
"I doubt it, all you pack people are all holier than thou." He mocked.
"I have only been in a pack for about three months." His mouth flopped open.
"How?"
"He's my mate." I said pointing to Leo, "And him.". I nodded to Levi who looked smug.
"But.... but....." He didn't seem able to understand.
"But rouges are killed on site."
"I'm not just a rouge." I smiled kindly at him and moved the air around them, ruffling their hair.
"What was that?"
"I'm a witch." His eyes narrowed, as if he was trying to figure something out. Then his eyes lit up.
"Your Ivory! Rosie told me all about you!" This time it was my turn for my mouth to flop open.
"You knew Rosie?"
"Yea." His face fell.
"How... how is she?"
"She died, we were with her when it happened, a huge group of rouges came looking for her.... looking for you. Said they were about to cash in on a bounty."
"When?" I felt my voice shake.
"Maybe two weeks ago....I can't remember, the shifting and running changes the times." He nodded to the other wolves.
"We can trust her."
"Wait!" I stopped them before their shift, their red eyes turned to me.
"Leo. Clothes, now." His eyes glazed.
"Thank you." Jon said, I nodded. The clothes were handed through the door.
"Turn around guys." I wasn't sure what gender the wolves were, their scents to mixed to tell. They shifted and a man grabbed the clothes from my hand with a small nod, he was small, not very large and he was skinny. It reminded me of the times of hunger. Silently he held out the big shirt in front of the smaller wolf who shifted, a boy, he had to be 16 at most. The red eyes staring at me were terrified.
I crouched down in front of him, silently linking Leo that he and Levi could turn back around.
"My name is Ivory." I held my hand out and he looked at it. It was easy to know the boys mother, the dark black skin tone the same, the red eyes couldn't hide what I knew without searching, this was Rosie's boy. I hardly saw him when I had stayed with her.
"Do you remember me?" He grabbed my hand and gave it a light shake.
"Yes." His voice as small and scared.
"Would I ever hurt you?"
"No." His voice was stronger. I casted my senses in his head, I know he felt it. No ill intent, no hatred, only fear and sadness.
"Leo, Levi, meet Rakell, Rosie's son." They looked to the boy in shock. Leo walked slowly and the boy hid behind the unnamed mans leg.
"Son, your mother saved my mate, made her strong and safe. I will always be in her debt, she was a wonderful woman." The boy smiled and nodded.
I stood up and turned to the unnamed man.
"Brandon." He said without needing to hear my question.
"Rakel, will stay with us." The two looked panicked. "Mates?" I asked, not missing the look of love and sadness they shared. They nodded.
"How did you get Rakel?"
"When Rosie screamed, we ran, Rakel was running to. Told us his mom sent him out to warn us and run. He's a child, we had grown to love him, we couldn't leave him there. Bran was injured, still is." He pointed to his stance, which I noticed was lopsided. I nodded to the pleading look in Jon's eyes, and moved toward Bran who pulled Rakel farther behind him.
"I'm not going to hurt you." I said softly. Leo growled.
"We need to know what they mean to do first", I glared at him.
"You mean for me to leave him in pain, as he tried to protect a pup he see's as his own?" Leo wisely didn't voice his frustrations any further, I moved slowly after looking up to Brandon for permission, he nodded and I placed my hand on the leg he flinched, I realized how bad it was, almost a crippled leg, a broken leg healed wrong. I casted into him, and as I healed him I searched his past, three weeks it had been, the scene played out, I went back further, no ill intent nothing to say he was a threat, his leg came into my mind, he ran with with Brandon on his back even with a bad leg, pushing through pain. I pulled back to see Brandon putting some weight on his leg, before resting all of his weight on it.
"It doesn't hurt." He looked to his mate in wonder and happiness. Then to me and threw his small bony arms around my shoulder, I felt Leo and Levi moving forward but blocked their movements and silently chuckled at their growls of frustration. "Thank you, thank you so much. Even if we are to die, its nice to have this moment." He pulled back and Jon came to his side.
"Please just.... give Rakel a nice home and... end it quick for us." He stared in pain at his mate. "At least for Bran."
"No." I said, and his eyes snapped to mine, fear was obvious and I realized clarification was needed.
"Your wolves are bonded to Rakel's. And your good rouges, I wish I had listened to Leo before, had he not went against what I said, all of you would of been dead..." I sighed. "I would of been responsible for killing a child of a woman whom loved me as her own." They still looked confused. I turned to Leo and Levi.
"Tell Aaron to get a room set up, one with an adjoining room. Set one up for Brandon and Jon and the other for Rakel."
"No threat?" Leo asked
"None, you were right." I smiled at him and sent him a mental image of how I would thank him, his face turned bright red.
"Are you sure?"
"Levi, would I let them in the pack house if I wasn't 110% sure?"
"No."
"Exactly."
"Wait.... your letting us... live?" Jon looked confused.
"And here." I paused and almost smacked myself. "If you want to, I mean. I would love for Rakel to be near, but I understand if you would rather go and..." Two arms were thrown around me and Brandon sobbed on me.
"Thank you, oh my god thank you so much." I laughed and hugged him back.
"DO you wish to stay?" Red eyes looked lovingly on Jon.
"We would want nothing more." Tears of gratitude, and though they would become part of the pack, leaving their red eyes behind them, they will, like me be left with the memories, always the memories.
