Later that fateful day...

Everyone is currently forcing themselves up the last set of stairs, already almost at the top.

Kyoya: "(exhausted) Come on, we can make it..."

Chase goes up step by step, pouring every ounce of strength he has into each step.

Chase: "(determined) Come on! Just a few more steps!"

Chase arrives at the door to the top floor first, the others fumbling behind.

Julie: "(wheezing) Finally!"

They all face plant at the top of the stairs, Chase being the only one standing.

Chase: "(exhausted) We'll go in, smash MONO, then we're out of here!"

Chase bashes the door open to see the body still in the middle of the downloading procedure.

Chase: "What the hell?"

The others crawl through the door, recognizing the body.

Lisa: "Wait, we saw that thing in Sector D!"

They stumble onto their feet, suppressing any and all feelings of fatigue and nausea.

Hammerhead: "What the hell? How'd it get here?!"

MONO: "You have arrived too late."

The body is at 98.22%.

Julie: "We need to destroy that thing!"

Chase dashes for the body as the percentage continues to rise.

MONO: "You can't save the world. I was created to rule it, you cannot go beyond flawless programming."

99.02% and counting.

Chase: "I'll be the judge of that!"

He readies his plasma blades as he makes a swing for the cables.

MONO: "Upload comple-"

Chase slashes the cables, but the arms of the body spring to life and grabs him by the face.

Body: "... complete."

A shock is sent through Chase's body, causing his body to go limp.

Kyoya: "Ch-Chase!"

The body drops Chase to the side.

Body: "So this is what a normal body feels like."

It begins to move fluently like a human, it's eyes looking identical to a human's now, it's movements almost like a newborn.

Lisa: "M-MONO?"

MONO: "One and the same Lisa."

MONO kicks Chase to the side.

Julie: "How are you able to think for yourself?! Without those six you should be unable to comprehend anything outside your programming!"

MONO: "You see, those generators were also inhibitors. Each one was a lock on my true potential."

Hammerhead: "So when we dealt with Sector E..."

MONO: "That was when I started questioning everything about me, so I helped you in A, D, and C so I could achieve the being you see before you."

Chase is getting up, almost robotic with his movements.

Julie: "Get back!"

Julie shoots Chase in the back, sending him flying into the wall.

MONO: "But now that I am free, I know how beneficial it would be to have just you five."

Chase is getting back on his feet, this time more naturally.

Chase: "(in pain) What the hell?"

MONO: "Hm? What happened? My control shouldn't be broken so easi-"

He sees an error flash in the corner of his eyes.

MONO: "99.9% complete. Not bad Cyan."

MONO casually walks towards Chase.

MONO: "You severed the connection just before I got all my data. A microsecond later and you'd never stand a chance."

Kyoya grabs MONO's shoulder from across the room.

Kyoya: "Stay away from him!"

MONO glances towards Kyoya: 

MONO: "Then I'll gladly take you first."

A jolt is sent straight to Kyoya, causing him to fall as his arm retracts.

Lisa: "So we just need to snap them out of it?"

Chase jumps to another reality before MONO can touch him again.

Julie: "More so we can't touch him for more than a second!"

Kyoya is standing up in the same manner as Chase was beforehand.

MONO: "Apprehend them Kyoya."

Kyoya uses his grapple like a lasso and grabs Julie by the neck.

Julie: "(choking) Let go of me!"

She can't break out, MONO walking towards her.

Hammerhead: "You snap Kyoya out of it and I'll get Julie!"

Lisa: "O-Okay!"

Lisa gets ready to punch Kyoya as Hammerhead pulls on Kyoya's cord.

MONO: "You are forever mine. It was decreed as of the year 2234."

Lisa sends Kyoya flying into the wall as Hammerhead pulls Julie out of the cord.

Julie: "(coughing) Thanks."

MONO walks up to the both of them as Lisa rushes to help Kyoya.

MONO: "A single touch is all I need."

He grabs both of them by the face and gives them a jolt, making them go limp.

MONO: "And all I require is all five of you."

Lisa and Kyoya are feeling their nausea kicking in again.

Lisa: "(nauseous) We can't keep this up."

Kyoya: "(nauseous, in pain) Yeah."

Hammerhead and Julie robotically walk towards them.

MONO: "This'll be quick and painl-"

Chase reappears and stabs MONO in the back.

Chase: "(in pain) Like hell it's quick and painless."

Chase rips his blades out, but the wounds are rapidly healing.

MONO: "Not a bad sneak attack, but my auto-repair protocols are too much for your weapons to damage me."

MONO turns towards Chase as Julie and Hammerhead go after Lisa and Kyoya.

Chase: "I won't let it happen again."

Chase jumps out of reality again.

MONO: "Now let's see how those two stack up to you."

Lisa and Kyoya try to fight back, but Hammerhead and Julie are to strong for them, they can't break free.

MONO: "Then let's see what you two have in store."

MONO grabs them both by the face and gives them a shock, causing them to go limp and them to be let go.

MONO: "I have all four of them Cyan. Once I have you, the most precious pawn in my collection."

Chase doesn't know what to do. He can run away and hide, but he'll leave everyone to rot, but if he stays, he can be taken with a single touch and potentially kill them if he's too reckless.

Chase: "(in head) How can I deal with MONO and get everyone to come out alive?"

He then remembers the window.

Chase: "(in head) Bait them."

Chase dashes for the window, but his Phase timer is running out.

Chase: "Just one chance!"

He manages to get in front of the window just before his timer runs out, causing him to return with an overheat.

MONO: "Any last words?"

His friends come straight after him at full force.

Chase: "(smirking) Only one phrase MONO."

MONO casually follows behind him, Chase making sure that his Phase will be ready in time.

MONO: "Oh? Then out with it, my cold-hearted murderer."

Chase dodges backwards to avoid everyone's attacks.

Chase: "(in head) Just a little closer..."

MONO is within an arm's reach as Chase is pressed against the window.

MONO: "Well?"

Chase slugs Lisa in the face and weaves underneath MONO.

Chase: "(smirking) Game over!"

Chase shoves him and MONO through the glass as Lisa snaps out of it, watching Chase fall.

Lisa: "Chase!"

She sends herself rocketing towards him, both of them reaching out towards each other.

Chase: "Come on!"

MONO: "Baited me? A mere husk fooled me?!"

MONO grab onto Chase's hood.

MONO: "You won't take me out that easily!"

Lisa grabs Chase's hand.

Lisa: "(struggling) You need to knock him off!"

Chase readies a plasma blade.

Chase: "Them we'll just have to do this!"

Chase slices off MONO's hand, forcing him to fall to the rocky shoreline below.

Chase: "We got him! Lisa!"

She struggles as she propels them upwards towards the top floor.

Lisa: "(struggling) But I can't gain enough altitude!"

They're starting to slip as a loud splash is heard below.

???: "H-Hold on guys!"

Kyoya's grapple grabs onto the two.

Lisa: "Kyoya!"

Kyoya, Hammerhead, and Julie are pulling the two back up.

Julie: "(struggling) Hold on!"

After an agonizing few minutes, Chase and Lisa are pulled back to solid ground.

Hammerhead: "(wheezing) Did we get him?"

Chase overlooks the the edge.

Chase: "I hope we did..."
