The class had already ended a few minutes prior that left most of the students, including yourself, in cleaning duty. Some are arranging the desks properly while the others are wiping some dust from the windows and desks, and the rest is sweeping the floor. You are one of those who are sweeping the floor along with Rio, Megu, and Kayano.

"Time flies really fast. Tomorrow is already Valentine's Day. Y/N, are you going to give something to a special someone?" Rio faces you after stopping for a moment with her cleaning as you successfully didn't point your gaze towards the female class representative.

Unbeknownst to Rio, you already have been giving chocolates to someone that you had adored for quite a long time now. You, Rio and Megu had been best friends since you were in elementary. Being assigned in the same group for a school project and later just clicked on in, the three of you became friends since then. Showing your gratitude to the two, you decided to give each of them a chocolate on Valentine's Day and it became a tradition for you afterwards.

"So~ who's the lucky one?" Rio softly elbows you with her eyebrows wiggling up and down while grinning from ear to ear, making you quite relieved that she still didn't notice your particular liking towards your other best friend.

"I actually don't have one in mind at the moment." You answered that made her quite disappointed, but she further pressed on and tells you to give someone tomorrow as the some of the girls cleaning with you also supports her.

"I'm pretty sure anyone in our class will be delighted when you give them chocolate!" Toka, who just happen to pass by and heard the conversation, chimed in.

"Yeah! You're one of the amazing people I've met!" Kayano chirped from behind you.

Speaking of hearing the conversation, all of you are unaware of a tiny tank that was invented by a very good electrician of your class as he and some of the boys had heard the conversation that may or may not make them feel excited and anxious for tomorrow.

The others who had noticed your absence of answer and small discomfort, which are namely Okano, Hayami, and Fuwa, tried to stop them from continuing to make you do the activity. The others who thought that you just need a few words of encouragement, which are Kurahashi, Ritsu, and Kanzaki, told you that you'll be fine and so, you decided to just give someone a chocolate tomorrow as they cheered for you.

It was already Valentine's Day and currently break time for your class. Spotting Rio outside sitting on the grassy ground under a tree, you marched your way towards her and gives her a chocolate that you had made yesterday night.

"Thanks for the chocolate, Y/N! Here's a gift in return." Rio happily accepted your small gift, giving you a small stuffed toy of your favorite animal afterwards.

This was quite unexpected, but you enthusiastically accepted it. "You don't have to, but thank you also. This is so cute, by the way."

"Is that one for Megu? Why is it also heart shaped? Not like mine... Wait..." Rio curiously glances at the two heart shaped chocolate you are carrying with your other hand as a theory had started to brew on her mind.

"U-Uh... I-It's nothing. I'll go back inside the room to give this to Megu-chan and to one of the boys in our class." You give a smile and faces away from her to hide your small blush, quickly making your way to the classroom next.

"Sure! I'm just gonna go and share something to Kayano-chan!" Rio jogs off towards Kayano while excitedly waving at her as her theory was confirmed by your reaction.

She finally understood why you seem to not hold any interest to any of the boys and she decided to talk to Kayano about it. Stepping inside the room once again, you freeze in your spot once you noticed that Megu was not inside as you had guessed, but it was filled with some of the boys instead. You slowly back away as you made your escape in which you had hope was unnoticed by them.

'You know what? Forget it. I'll just take this other chocolate and eat it myself.' You continue on with your search and when you finally saw Megu, you gave it to her and after that, you start to go back to where Rio is.

"Was that Y/N?" Nagisa asks in confusion while looking at your retreating form as it seems like your exit was not unnoticed by them.

"Holding a heart shaped chocolate?" Isogai tilt his head in confusion as he and the others are quite disappointed that you didn't give it to any of them.

"For who?" Chiba asked next as their teacher suddenly appears before them and decided to cheer them up from being a bit gloomy.

"Nyurufufufu! Erase any trace of disappointment in your faces as it's time to guess for whom it may be!" The teacher happily announced.

"Y/N looked at me, Isogai-kun, and Nagisa-kun. Could it be either of us?" Chiba points at each of them, that includes himself, as it was the cue to start the guessing game.

From the topic of who Y/N might have taken a liking to and for whom the chocolate may be, it diverted to being who likes who among the boys as it lands on the class president.

"Who do you like, Isogai-kun?" Maehara slings an arm around his best buddy as the others are also waiting for his answer.

"M-Me? Uhm..." Isogai takes a small deep breath and answers with a small smile.

"Kataoka-san..." Before the boys could state their opinion and reactions, they were interrupted.

"Hey, don't be a girlfriend stealer!" Kayano suddenly barges in, sliding the door open with a slam as Koro-sensei and the boys are quite surprised at her entrance.

"Megu-chan is already reserved for someone!" Rio pops up besides Kayano as the green haired gal rapidly nods her head in agreement.

The two just happen to pass by when they heard their conversation. You look at the spot where Rio was occupying earlier to find it devoid of her figure.

Scanning the area, you spotted another classmate of yours and decided to ask her. "Rinka-chan! Did you see Rio?"

"I last saw her with Kayano and they seem to be headed to the classroom earlier." Rinka points at the room behind you as you nod in understanding, thanking her afterwards and since she was also headed to the classroom herself, the two of you went on.

"Y/N likes Megu-chan!" Rio exclaims as you froze by the entrance, looking at the commotion with wide eyes.

The rest of their class had already gone back to the classroom themselves, except for Megu which was being distracted by Koro-sensei.

Isogai approaches Y/N with a determined expression on his face, holding out his hand as he states. "If that's the case, then, I guess starting from now we're rivals, Y/N."

You were still unable to comprehend what just happened, but you accepted his hand shake nonetheless that made the class choose a side of their own and support who they want to. For all the times that you had spent together alone with Megu, courtesy of Rio who decided to give you some alone time, you found out that the admiration that you have felt for her was not on a romantic side, but just someone you look up to kind of admiration. And so, from that moment on, your romantic feelings for Megu had slowly dissipated until you only saw her as a big sister of some sort.

During those times, the closeness between you and Megu was very crystal clear to Isogai as he starts to feel jealousy stirring inside him every time he saw you two together. But he was also quite in confusion in which he still didn't know why. Luckily, his best buddy was there to help him and so, with Maehara's encouragement, he decided to make a move after weeks of failed attempts.

Isogai goes outside the classroom and was looking forward to get closer to Megu, thinking that everything was on his side as he and Megu will have to stay for a bit since Koro-sensei needed to discuss some things with the two of them. Witnessing that Megu is talking to someone, he stops in his tracks and could feel his heart squeeze in pain when he sees Y/N giving a letter to her. Simply misunderstanding the situation, he left while thinking that Y/N had confessed.

The next day, you were greeted by stares from your classmates that made you uncomfortable with the unwanted attention and was quite confused as to why they are looking at you. During the break, Rio and Kayano went towards you and bombarded you with questions.

"Y/N? We noticed that Isogai-kun had been quite down since yesterday." Rio muttered in a small hush, not wanting to be heard by the others who are luckily isn't paying that much attention to them.

"We also saw you giving a letter to Kataoka-san... Did you confess to Kataoka-san yesterday?" Kayano asks with her index finger pointing under her chin.

Before you could utter a single word, Megu approaches the three of you. "To answer your letter, it's a yes and I'm looking forward to it."

Megu smiles and gives a small wave before going back to her seat. Noticing your quite bliss and excited state, the two left you as they thought that Megu had accepted your confession. The truth is, that letter was an invitation from your mom asking Megu if she and her parents are going to go for a holiday vacation with your family and hearing her positive answer, you were quite excited for the holidays to arrive. You were snapped out of your daze when you hear Maehara and Okajima calling out to Isogai and following after him after he suddenly walked out of the room, having a misunderstanding of the situation again.

The next day, you were a little worried since Megu didn't come to class and it's very uncommon for her to be late or absent. Softly tapping your fingertips on your desk, you released a small sigh and lay down your head on your arms. You sit back up again and take out your phone that suddenly rings from your school bag. Relief flooded to you when you saw that it was coming from Megu and immediately answered it, greeting your friend on the other line.

"Y/N! Megu... She... She was found dead yesterday night a-and..." You forced yourself to continue on listening what Megu's mom is talking about that was mixed with few sniffles and hiccups as you were also in tears yourself.

Both you and Rio are devastated as well as the rest of the class once you hesitantly revealed the very bad news to them. Gloom and silence covered the atmosphere inside the room after it until the end of the class. Muttering a soft and small goodbye to Rio, you start to make your way to an alleyway that connects to a street towards your house. A stranger blocks your way and grins deviously towards you.

"Why don't you come with me? I won't hurt ya." The man was about to tug you forcefully when he suddenly screams out in pain and on his clothing, blood began to spread from a small spot along his abdomen as you could also see the tip of a knife poking out.

"I-Isogai-kun! I..." You take a small step back as you stare at his bloodied uniform and at the man who grunts and groan in pain.

You were unable to escape from his hold when he suddenly grabbed your arm, too weak, numb and shaken up. "I'm glad that you're safe."

He engulfs you in a hug as the comforting warmth he emits made you a bit emotional again as you start to cry. He let you be until you started to feel fine a little bit and just small sniffles coming from you.

Isogai softly rubs your back followed by a pat on your head as he began to speak. "I know it's probably not the right time, but I can't wait any longer. For those days that I thought I was admiring Kataoka-san, it was always for you. It had always been you and I just realized that not too long ago. And now, with no more cause of my confusion and proving that I can keep you safe and protected, your answer is the only thing that's left."

You were still speechless from the trauma of what had happened earlier and plus Isogai's sudden confession. Dizziness and headache started to loom over your being, but you tried your best to fight over it.

Isogai continues to inform with his arms still wrapped securely around you, if not it was a bit tighter from before, but you were unaware of it. "If it's a yes, then it's much easier for the two of us. If not, then I'll try to help you learn to love me. So what's it gonna be, Y/N?"
