005
On my way home I stopped by a shop to buy a hat. My ears haven't disappeared and I don't want to explain this to my friends and my Dad for that matter. It was around noon when I finally made it to my house. Camille and Aria were just finishing up breakfast, when I entered.
I walked in as causal as possible. Even though I had a beanie on my head, (which I'm not a fan of), it was the only way to hide my ears. Camille gave me a weird stare when she noticed me walk in.
"I thought you didn't like those hats?" Aria questioned. Shit. I don't have an excuse for this.
"I'm just giving it a try." I lie. Camille doesn't seem bothered by my hat and I can tell she is looking me all over.
"Nina would be insulted by your fashion choice." Camille remarked. I gave her a look. It's not my fault that some weird crap is happening to me...or was it?
"I was in a rush to get to the clinic." I say. Aria gives me a concerned look.
"You okay?"
"I'll be fine Aria. It was just a minor cold." Camille gave me a look again. It was as if they were trying to sniff out the truth. The truth I didn't want them to see or hear. The truth that I went to a mystical arts shop that is close to my house for some odd reason.
"Hey Sugarcube, do you need breakfast?" My Dad asked. He was behind the counter where my friends were sitting.
"Yea, thanks Dad."
The weekends go by so fast. I remember trying to contact the Fathoms store. No luck on Sunday. I guess I'd be going to school with my problems.
Sure enough I was right. I was going to be going to school with my lynx ears out and everything. Boy, was this gonna be a fun school day. Mondays. I don't like them. Having this situation makes me hate Mondays even more. Nothing I can do about it now. My Dad wouldn't let me stay home unless I was vomiting, or running a fever. Boy do I dread it. Man I do I hope I don't get found out. I don't need my friends giving me attention. I was probably gonna have something in store for me when I reach the school.
When I entered the school everyone was chattering loudly. I overheard a conversation which went something like this.
"Did you hear?"
"No"
"Zina dumped Amari when he confessed to her on the rooftop."
"Seriously?"
"Yeah, she bitched at him."
"You're kidding."
"Poor Amari. Why would she do that?"
"Possibly because she's a cold heartless bitch."
I stopped listening. I didn't need to hear more. I already had the stares of most people. They would give me some look then they would whisper to their buddy. I don't remember rejecting Amari. Why would I reject him? I love him. My heart hurts just thinking about it... what could have happened to have me do something like this? If I asked one of my friends, they would be just as clueless as me. It would probably be smart for me to ask Kano about what happened. Most likely Germaine would tell him what happened.
Hunter and Carter were near the usual spot by the lockers. Nina and Aria were also chatting with them too. What was surprising was seeing Don, Camille, Kano, and Yuki by the lockers. Usually they don't visit this spot unless something big was going down. Great. What did I do on Friday? Why can't I remember something this important?
I walk towards my group. Hope they know enough to tell me what the hell is going on? I feel myself pulled away from the main hallway. I forgot there was a hallway on the left near the entrance, then again I'm not really interested in knowing every inch of the building. Before I know it, I'm pressed up against the wall. There are a few people down this hall but still people were looking at me.
I'm faced with a familiar figure, towering over me with authority. They have a grip on my shirt and are taller than me by a few inches. Of course I recognize this person, she's wearing that same red T-shirt with leather jacket and black pants.
"I see your wardrobe hasn't improved since the last time we met." I joke. She ignores my comment and stares directly into my eyes. It must have been for a long time, since people were starting to look down this hallway.
"Mind letting me go?" I say. "I am not exactly having a good morning, Al Vine." Her gaze remains the same, unfazed. She blinks once then twice.
"We need to talk." Karina says with authority. The bell rings. People start moving out and to their respected classes.
"And I need to go, Karina." I plead. "Also we are getting stared at by people, you're making a scene." Karina lets go of me after a moment.
"You're class can wait." Karina says, "We need to talk about your situation." Now that I had a moment to process I realized something...how the fuck did she find my school?!
"How the hell did you know I go to school here?!" I shouted. Karina chuckles like this is no big deal.
"I go to this school too." Karina answers, "I'm a junior here." My eyes widened.
"I-I have never seen you." I stammer.
"That's because your schedule is different from mine." I nod in understanding. I realized then that I had to get moving before I'm late. I dash towards my locker with Karina in tow.
"It's a big school." I say, "How would you know about my schedule?"
"You're friend from the alleyway told me." She answered.
"Cameron?" I huff, "I'm not surprised. Did he tell you anything else?"
"Your reputation here." Karina smiles, "What a naughty girl you are."
"So what?" I feigned a chuckle, "He lost his memory, he doesn't know me, not anymore."
"He also mentioned, you were missing some memories too." Karina mentioned, "He doesn't seem to care about it though."
"I don't need you following me." I growl, "I have to get to Chemistry before I'm late!" I start digging through my locker frantically. I have no luck with finding my chem book. This is a disaster! Karina nudges past me and grabs a book.
"I believe this is what you're looking for." She says. I look to see that she found my chem book.
"Thank you." I say kindly. She also hands me my pencil case and a couple notebooks.
"..." Karina smiles at me, "I will meet you at lunch."She walks off towards the hallway near the entrance. What still confuses me is how she got all my supplies out so easily.
I called out to her, " I don't have a say, do I, Karina?"
Karina smiles, "Nope. Just like my father I don't like to be kept waiting."
I guess when I am in a hurry, I tend to not notice things around me.
Yuki is giving me a weird glare when I walk into the class. I had just made it in time for class and luckily I my seat wasn't occupied. Cameron was sitting next to Hunter. I could hear Yuki whispering to them.
"You didn't tell me she was wearing a hat, though being unpunctual is her thing." Yuki whispered.
"What's this I hear about a hat?" I question. Yuki turns to look me in the eyes. Cameron smiles at me and Hunter, is probably up to something with that grin of his.
"You expressed how much you hate those hats." Yuki said, "Also mentioned that you wouldn't be caught dead wearing one of those." Hunter is snickering behind Cameron.
"I'm allowed to retract former preferences, right?" I query. "Morning Cameron." I wave at Cameron. Boy did I shock Yuki and Hunter, they were gaping for a few seconds.
"Morning, Miss Cisco." He responds. The reason I'm being nice to Cameron now was that he helped with the clinic thing, alley I was in. The point is that, since he doesn't remember his time here, I get a fresh start. I sat down next to Yuki.
That was when I felt my feet break through my shoes. Fuck. Not again. I bite my lip in a panic. Not because I'm horny, but because I am faced with a dangerous dilemma. It could be in a time where a problem arises I get hormonal, but that's just a thought. Nothing more, hopefully. Positive.
I guess I may have shivered when this happened because Yuki was looking at me concerned.
"You okay?" She asks. I forced a fake smile on my face.
"Yeah, I'm good." I twiddle my thumbs to distract myself from panicking. Hunter looks down underneath the desk. That's when I jump, he better not have seen my feet.
Hunter looks at me weirdly, "What's gotten into you? I was only checking if my shoes were untied."
"I'm slightly under the weather." I lie. Yuki doesn't seem to be buying anything I'm saying.
"We're talking during lunch about this 'sickness', okay, Zina?" Yuki commands.
I give a concerned look, "Can't. I have to do something during lunch."
"Oh, I'm not asking." Yuki mentions.
"Great. I'm screwed."
I groan. I can't wait to get out of school.
Before I knew it, it was lunch time. My friends were sitting down while I was grabbing my food. I may have put too much food on my flimsy red tray. Everything was wobbling all over. Eventually, my plastic water bottle fell off my tray and hit my back to normal foot.
"Mrrowwww!"
Did I just meow?! I covered my mouth quickly, dropping my tray on the floor. Hunter walks up to with Carter in tow. Carter is laughing along with Hunter at me.
"Dude. You didn't tell me you were into purring!" Hunter cackled.
"Whatever." I spat. I began picking up my tray.
Carter smiled at me, "First guys now purring." I wasn't thinking when I said this and a part of me wished I could take it back and the other was like, hell yeah.
"Actually, that's more my speed." I told them as I pointed randomly in a direction. What I didn't know was that I was pointing at Karina. She was walking towards me when I had pointed in her general direction. Hunter and Carter's eyes went wide.
"Holy shit," Hunter rasped, "She's hot." Karina didn't hear Hunter. She tapped me on the shoulder.
"Remember?" Karina said casually.
"Yes." I say. My cheeks were getting kind of red because of the situation I just put myself in. I followed Karina out of the cafeteria without saying another word to Hunter and Carter. Their faces were shocked. Omg it was like they had just seen a ghost.
Karina and I strode along the hallways, passing multiple lockers along the way. I calmed my nerves but I wasn't the first to start talking.
"Can I ask why you were pointing at me?" Karina demanded.
"Uh, well, um, ya see..." I began. "I told them I had to be somewhere during lunch."
"Hmm...very well." Karina said unamused. At that moment, my tail came out. I tried to cover it up. Karina just rolled her eyes at me.
"With you're situation, I believe you should, not be attending school right now."
"It's that bad?"
"In a way...yes." Karina hesitatingly Said. "If you're purring in public, you should definitely be very careful."
"Alright, so what did Mr. Al Vine find out?"
"My father hasn't discovered anything yet."
"Then why are you talking to me?"
"Because you mentioned something about being bitten by an animal."
"So?"
"I have been recently doing intense studying in bio chemistry." Karina told me, "I might find a more scientific way of figuring out what is wrong." Now that was an answer that I can accept. I wouldn't throw away a chance to figure out what the hell was going on with me.
"Alright." I smile, "Do you need a blood sample?" Karina eyes me with a look I had never seen on her face.
"Yes, I do." She said, "I need you." She grabbed me by the arm and dragged me towards the stairs.
"Mind telling me where we are going?"
"We are going to the chemistry lab. I can take a couple tests on you, there."
"Gee, I love being your guinea pig." I say sarcastically. Karina lets out a small laugh. That's a first. Never seen her laugh.
Little did I know that there was someone sneaking around the hallways. They must have taken a recording of us. It was Germaine who had taken the video. She had the same shocked face that Carter and Hunter wore previously. She ran off towards the cafeteria. She went through the doors and towards Yuki's table.
They were having a conversation about what had happened previously.
"I'm not fucking kidding guys." Hunter exclaimed, "Zina just went off with some girl, I had never seen til today!"
"You're kidding." Camille said with disinterest. "Zina likes Amari. Besides if this girl wanted to talk to her...how do we know she didn't hurt Zina."
"Agreed. They could be enemies." Yuki mentioned. "Zina tends to make enemies."
"She went off with a girl doesn't sound so bad." Nina chimed in. "What did she look like."
"Something from your dreams." Carter sputtered. "She has dark black-brown hair, wears red and black."
Nina looks at him blankly, "I don't know who that is." Aria patted Nina the shoulder.
"This is all so confusing." Grumbled Don. "Zina rejected Amari and now she goes off with a mysterious girl, when she should be talking about how weird she has been acting."
"Not to mention how nice she has been towards Cameron." Hunter sighed. Camille gave him a look.
Aria was buying this. "You're saying she's acting nice with Cameron? Something definitely is wrong, or happened."
"We totally missed a chapter here." Camille stated, "I can't follow the story anymore."
"Guys!" Germaine shouted. She looked out of breath when she came to the table.
"I was able to record something with Zina and a girl!" She breathed. The group glared at her with suspicion.
"What do you mean?" Yuki pleaded, "Also perfect timing, Hunt and Car just mentioned a girl walking away with Zina." Germaine placed her phone in the middle of the table. The group crowded around Germaine as she played the video.
"Yes I do," She said, "I need you." She grabbed Zina by the arm and dragged her towards the stairs.
"Mind telling me where we are going?" Zina asked. She wasn't fighting back against her.
"We are going to the chemistry lab. I can take a couple tests on you there."
"Gee, I love being your guinea pig." Zina says sarcastically. Karina lets out a small laugh.
"Holy Hannah!" Nina gasped, "Was that a flirt?!"
Camille rolled her eyes, "The video could have been taken out of context. This might have been something different going on."
Germaine nodded in agreement. "You're right. Caroline caught another video of them together this morning." She clicked to the next video.
"This one might give us more detail on what's going on."
Video starts with Zina walking into the school. Then out of nowhere the girl in red and black pulls Zina to the nearest hallway. The video slowly closes up to the hallway where the action was happening. (Thanks to Caroline's sneakiness). The girl has Zina pinned to the wall.
"I see your wardrobe hasn't improved since the last time we met." Zina jokes. The girl ignores the comment and stares directly into her eyes. It must have been for a long time, since the video was over five minutes long.
"Mind letting me go?" Zina says. "I am not exactly having a good morning, Al Vine." Her gaze remains the same, unfazed. She blinks once then twice.
"We need to talk." Karina says with authority. The bell rings. People start moving out. A few passerby's were giving the two weird glances.
"And I need to go, Karina." Zina pleads. "Also we are getting stared at by people, you're making a scene." Karina lets go of her after a moment.
"You're class can wait." Karina says, "We need to talk about your situation." Zina's eyes went wide.

"I go to this school too." Karina answers, "I'm a junior here." Zina's eyes widened.
"I-I have never seen you." Zina stammers.
"That's because your schedule is different from mine." She nods in understanding. She dashes towards Zina's locker with Karina in tow.
"It's a big school." Zina says, "How would you know about my schedule?"
"You're friend from the alleyway told me." She answered.
"Cameron?" Zina huffs, "I'm not surprised. Did he tell you anything else?"
"Your reputation here." Karina smiles, "What a naughty girl you are."
"So what?" Zina feigned a chuckle, "He lost his memory, he doesn't know me, not anymore."
"He also mentioned, you were missing some memories too." Karina mentioned, "He doesn't seem to care about it though."

I called out to her, " I don't have a say, do I, Karina?"
Karina smiles, "Nope. Just like my Father, I don't like to be kept waiting."
Everyone at the table is silent.
"What the hell, has Zina gotten herself into this time?" Yuki exasperated.
"We can catch them right now, right? Don suggested, "The previous video was taken only seconds ago."
"True." Aria agreed, "A couple of us should go to the chem lab."
"Germaine, please don't show this to anyone else." Camille begged. "I don't want bad rumors." Germaine understood and nodded.
"I'll send the videos to you." She responded.
Kano spoke, "Perhaps it's better to have Yuki, Camille, and Aria come up there. No need for us to cause a scene."
"Uh, Hell Yeah we are going up there!" Aria exclaimed. She left her seat and exited the cafeteria with Yuki and Camille in tow.
"Are you saying you want me to strip, in school?" I question. I know I have a rebellious soul but stripping was where I drew the line...for now.
"Yes. Sorry." Karina said, "We are short on time. If you want help, this is how it will happen."
"Are you a lesbian?" I ask. Sometimes I just don't know when to shut up. Karina seems to flinch when I say this. I cover my mouth.
"Sorry, I sometimes don't know how to shut up." I apologize. "That was a rude to assume."
"Perhaps I should teach you how to." Karina said. Looks like she recovered from that. I felt bad for assuming of course. I pulled my shirt off with more remarks. She looks at my shoulder.
"You have a scar." She comments. She snaps a photo.
"This might help me later." She mutters. She then grabs a q-tip.
"That's useless." I chuckle, "The blood already dried up."
"I can simply take the dead skin from it." Karina reassured me. I put my shirt back on.
"Is that all you want?" I ask.
"For now." She says coolly. "I hear footsteps. Lets exit out the back." I follow her suggestion.
By the time my friends entered. We were already gone.
