Prologue

The forest growled and rumbled. Thunder roared overhead, sending electric bolts of energy down on the land below. The sky was dark but flashed with flickers of lightning. Rain slammed down on the forest, drenching everything in its path. The wind howled along with the cry of a battle ready wolf.

A black wolf gasped as he stumbled through bloody puddles of rain. He limped off away from the fighting and chaos, slipping away unnoticed in a grove of trees.

The muscles in his legs begged to quit moving. Finally he couldn't take it anymore. He tripped and fell, groaning when he raised his head. Staring at his mirrored self in a puddle in utter shock.

A long scrape ran from his ear down to the length of his jaw. His right eye was swollen, closed shut. A deep wound in his side released rivers of blood. He attempted to patch it with fumbling paws. He grabbed some leaves and slapped them on his bleeding wound. Everything was aching, hurting. There wasn't a part of him that wasn't covered in blood or scratches.

He looked in the puddle, gasping at his reflection. He was absolutely appalled by his appearance. Electric bolts of pain enflamed his weakened body. The usual happy glint in his eye was replaced with a dull empty look. As if all his hope and joy had left like a shadow touched by the light.

He stared at his reflection with a shocked glare. Rain cascaded through his fur and little droplets fell to the wet ground. He growled and clenched his paws, hating the damage his enemy inflicted on him.

The wolf lay his cheek against the cool ground. It brought down the flames of his overexerted body. The cold air was brought fast to his lungs. He couldn't stop panting. He felt that he couldn't catch his breath.

A shadow of movement caught his eye. Weakly tilting his head, he saw the form of a powerful, broad-shouldered brown and white wolf. Teeth flashing in a wicked sneer.

The black wolf was ready to give up.

Kill me now. I don't care.

The newcomer snarled and launched himself at the injured wolf. He stabbed his claws in the dark stained fur and sunk his teeth in the skin right beside his throat, holding him up by his neck.

Pain like a lightning bolt shot through his throat. The next thing he knew, he was lying on the ground with something wet and sticky looking around him. His eyes darted around wildly only to see his attacker retreating to the shadowed trees.

What made the wolf run? The black male turned his head and spotted what drove the tormentor away.

A huge red wolf with glowing amber eyes.

Tyrant!

After a few more seconds, he closed his eyes, never to open them again.

I would just like to say thank you to my supporters!! For reading and loving my stories! I'm thankful for each and every one of you ❤️❤️❤️

Second of all, this marks a very sad day of my life. A year ago today, my grandmother passed away, and I would just like to dedicate this book to her. She was very supportive of my idea to write, and she got to read a little bit of the first A Wolf's Tale book. Love you Nana, hope you're proud of me ❤️

Thanks for reading!
