CHAPTER 25

The Goblet today was standing at the top of the Hall. The house tables crackle with anticipation as, overhead, the enchanted ceiling swirls with dark clouds. At the staff's table, the staff's waited, Moody among them.

"The moment has arrived!"

The Hall quiet down and looked at the direction of the staff, where Dumbledore stood in the middle.

Dumbledore drew his wand and gave a great sweeping motion. Instantly, the torches lining the hall gutter, then die. The only light came from the blue-white flames of the Goblet.

A hush descends. Then... The flames crackle and turn bright strong angry red. A charred bit of parchment flutters from the Goblet and Dumbledore plucked it in mid-air.

"The champion for Drumstang is..." Dumbledore opened the parchment to check the name... "Victor Krum."

A storm of applause accompanies Krum from the Slytherin table to the top of the hall and into the adjoining chamber, which was located in the back of the Hall, behind the staff's table.

"Not a surprise here, " Draco whispered in Hadrian's ear, who only nod with a smile, trying to contain his giggles as he took the money from the pouting Blaise and gave it to Draco, who was smirking too.

The Hall grew quiet once more, all eyes were transfixed on the Goblet. The flames, which turned to the same shade of blue like less than ten minutes ago, turned to the angry red again. The second piece of parchment floated free.

"The champion for Beauxbatons is..." Dumbledore again began to open the parchment before starting to talk, "... Is Fleur Delacour."

There were whistling from every table and every bench in the Great Hall.

"And lastly, the Hogwarts champion."

This time the Goblet took a bit more time to turn red, and even more time to shoot the burnt parchment into the air.

"Cedric Diggory!"

The huge appulse from the Hufflepuff table was bigger than excepted, mainly because it wasn't only from the Hufflepuffs, Ravenclaw and big part of Slytherin joined too.

Now you may ask, in a polite way too, why the Slytherins would cheer to a Hufflepuff?

Ah, well there is a GOOD reason for that.

When Hadrian joined the school, he was horrified to hear from his mate about the rivalry between the houses, and even more, the behaviour and the discrimination toward a part of the houses. And therefore, decided to fix this.

He went to Hufflepuff first. He began to chat with some of the older students about why everyone hated them, Hufflepuff, and began to build a conversation from there. In the evening, he knew the other older students would here about their chat, and therefore would try to talk with him the next day, to see if what they heard about him was true.

And that is what had happened.

The younger students in the house heard from the older one that there is a Slytherin who doesn't have a problem with their house and went to check him too.

Eventually, he convinced the older students (who talked with the youngers)  to give a chance to Slytherin house, since his house is prejudiced too.

The Hufflepuffs agreed, and from the meeting on the quidditch pitch, became a friendship between the two houses.

Who knew older students has that much effect on the youngers?

"Excellent!" Dumbledore continued, "we now have our three champions. I'm sure I can count upon all of you to give your full support to each and every..."

A collective gasp cut Dumbledore short on his speech. The flames in the Goblet of Fire have, on the fourth time this evening, turned red. The fourth shred of parchment flutters forth. For a moment, Dumbledore simply lets it floats in the air, regarding it suspiciously, then takes it.

"Hadrian Riddle"

There is a moment of suspended silence. Then every eye in the Hall turned toward Hadrian, who in turn turned white and looked at Draco worriedly, who turned the look back. Blaise and Theodore looked at him too, Incredulous, searching in his face for some explanation. Finally Pansy whispers to him gently: "you need to go Hadrian."

Hadrian turned his head to look at her quickly, so quickly that Draco was scared for his mate neck. Hadrian's eyes began to burn from holding tears and he turned to Draco quickly. "Go, sweety, I will stay here. If anything happens, just call me. Alright?" Draco asked his mate, who gave a little nod in return. And with a kiss from Draco on Hadrian's forehead, Hadrian rose up stiffly and began to walk slowly past the house tables. As he came level with the staff's table, he caught his mom and the headmasters of the others schools gaze.

-&-&-&-

Hadrian entered the Trophy room, still stunned.

"What are you doing here Had? Do they want us back in the Hall?" He turned around and saw Fleur standing in the other side of the room, next to her were Cedric and Victor, all three were standing majestically before a roaring fire.

"U... u ... u ..." Hadrian just couldn't talk.

Before he could find a way to explain what the Goblet just did, the door crashed open and Dumbledore swept inside, and Karkaroff, Madame Maxime, his mom and Crouch did after him.

"What is the meaning of this Dumbledore!?" Madame Maxime partially shouted at the Headmaster of Hogwarts, trying at the same time not to walk into a small chandelier which was all over the ceiling. The three chosen champion looked at their headmasters and at Hadrian, trying to find an explanation.

"Mr. Riddle, did you put your name in the Goblet of Fire?" Dumbledore asked him, sounding like he was trying not to shout on the small teen in front of him.

"N-no... sir," Hadrian said back, trying very hard to contain his shutter.

"Did you asked an older student to put your name in?!" Dumbledore did shout a little this time, making Hadrian flinch back in the process.

"N-n-no s-sir" Hadrian almost had tears in his eyes. Everyone looking at him made him feel very self-conscious about himself at the moment.

"I need you to tell me the truth, Mr Riddle, do you know how your name got into the Goblet of Fire?!" Dumbledore did shout this time, and very loud too.

"No s-sir, I promise you that I do not know how m-my name got in-into the Goblet. Pl-please."

"Dumbledore leave the child alone. He is scared and confused. He obviously did not take part in this."

"The hell he is," only now everyone noticed Mad-Eye Moody was also in the room. "The Goblet of Fire," Moody continued, " is an exceptionally powerful magical object. Only an exceptionally powerful Confudus Charm could have hoodwinked it. Magic beyond the talents of any forth year, no matter from what country he came from or in what school he was before."

Now Hadrian was standing with the other champions, Fleur had her hand on his shoulder, trying to calm him down.

"You seem to have given this a fair bit of thought, Moody," Crouch said to Moody, looking at him suspiciously.

"Need I to remind you that once it was my job to think the way a dark wizard does, Crouch? And here we are in one of the most secured places in the world, and obviously, except the teachers, there is no one in this school who is strong enough to do a spell like this. At the moment we have a submissive mate who is trying to contain his magic. Every adult in this room knows that Mr Riddle and Mr Malfoy had an early creature inheritance this summer, and it obvious that Hadrian is the submissive one. A submissive creature cannot make a big decision himself without consulting his dominate mate, and I think I speak from all of us when I say that there is no way young Mr Malfoy would agree to such a thing, which means someone had done this without young Hadrian's or Draco's knowing.

"And now, we have a submissive child trying to contain his magic and prevent him to leash out, with the help of two creatures, which one is dominant," everyone turned to look at Hadrian, who at the moment had his eyes closed, taking deep breathing, while Fleur was holding his shoulders, her hands glowing and Cedric had Hadrian's hand on his chest, so he could follow his breathing.
Victor was standing a bit far from them, giving them space, only after seeing him they noticed that his uniform's cap was on Hadrian's shoulders too, under Fleur's fingers.

"Barty... I leave this to you," Dumbledore said with a soft voice, only to jump in surprise when five different voices shouted at him.

"No need to be angry toward young Mr Riddle, it is afte..."

"We do not mad at him Albus," this time it was Severus who spoke. "We are mad at you," Karkaroff said, pointing a finger at the surprised Headmaster who had a frown on his face.

"You can't really consider letting this young child compete in this dangerous thing. Mr Riddle's body could only contain his new amount of magic without the help of Mr Malfoy a week before the school began, and he is still struggling to use his magic without it lashing out on everyone around him. Not only that, but he is also barely fourteen. Even if we are taking into account that Hadrian is the best wizard in his year, by power and knowledge, he is still missing material that the other champions all know from three more years of education. Furthermore, Hadrian only joined Hogwarts this year and the material which they teach in Greece is unknown to us as well as different from the three schools who are present here. Mr Riddle can get hurt very badly and we also have in this school his DOMINATE VEELA MATE who is very protective and is waiting in the Great Hall for his mate to come out."

Everyone looked at Severus, and Dumbledore was indeed surprised by his youngest coworker.

Crouch stood by the fire, staring into the flames blankly all while they talked, his face was cast in eerie half-shadow.

"The rules are absolute, " Crouch said, his voice is quiet and hard. "The Goblet of Fire constitutes a binding magical contract. Mr Riddle has no choice in the matter. He is, as of tonight, a Triwizard Champion."

"Is there nothing to do about this?" Cedric asked. Now, Hadrian, had his eyes opened, and were shined with contained tears.

"Unfortunately, there isn't."

And with that Crouch left the room, slowly after him they walked out, and they saw Draco particularly lifting Hadrian up when he saw him, hugging him very hard, his friends still their too. Draco began to whisper in his ear while Severus took them back to Slytherin common room.

All the while they kept looking at them .

-&-&-&-

"Are you sure you are alright?" Draco asked his mate in the hundredth time.

"Yes Drake I am sure," cam the hundredth reply from Hadrian, joining with a soft smile. He had in one hand an empty bottle of Calming Daugh, and in the other a two-way mirror, his dad on the other side, or was on the other side. His black cat was napping on his lap.

They just finished talking, and at the moment he was in his mom's chamber. They told his dad on what occurred. How everyone played their part well and Dumbledore's reaction. When his dad was told he needed a Calming Daugh, he was forced into agreeing to do another check-up when going back for Chrismas, and another check-up here at Hogwarts to see if he is going into heat or developing a fever.

He hated those check-ups very much.

He was very tired now, and all he wanted to do was go to sleep, so the last thing for the day was to try to convince his mate to carry him to their bed.

His cat wished him luck.
