Are My Two Friends MORE THAN FRIENDS?!

   Y/N's POV

I was scrolling through YouTube, and my phone kept dinging repeatedly, and frantic texts from Max came up.
"He can wait," I sighed, continuing to find an entertaining video to watch.
Ten minutes later, the dinging wouldn't stop. So I groaned and began scrolling through Max's texts.
So the highlights were that Max needed me to come over because he felt extremely awkward because Nikki and Neil were flirting with each other.
"Aww," I said to myself, charging my phone. "I've always shipped them two."
Stuffing my hands in my pockets, I waltzed out the front door. My mom wasn't home, so she didn't have to know that I was leaving.
I sang a Hamilton song to myself, looking at the bare trees. (It was December.)
Life, liberty, in the pursuit of happiness.
We fought for these ideals, we shouldn't settle for less.
I approached Max's door and knocked on it lightly.
Max immediately opened the door, looking quite frazzled. Relief swept across his face when he saw me standing there. "Y/N. Thank God you're here. Nikki and Neil...are..."
I pushed past him. "All right. Let's see it."
Once I got upstairs, I saw Nikki and Neil in a major lip-lock.
My body tensed. "This is uncomfortable."
   Max nodded. "Yup."
They both pulled apart, smiling at each other. "Hey, guys," I said awkwardly.
They turned to face me. "Oh! Hey, Y/N! Have you met my new boyfriend, Neil?" Nikki asked, gesturing to the kid I've known for about 5 months.
I rubbed my temples. "One: I've known him, ya dipwad. Two: You guys are together? That's an awfully big decision to make in about 10 seconds."
They shrugged. "I love her," Neil said, a dazed expression crossing his features.
"And I love going home," I said, attempting to turn around and leave. Max grabbed me by the shoulder.
"You can't leave!" Max hissed into my ear, making me shudder. I hate when anything's near my ear. "I don't wanna be alone with them! Trust me, it was way worse before you came. They couldn't keep their hands off of each other!"
I looked at Max. "Well, you're gonna have to be a man and suck it up! 'Cause I'm not having this freaking shiz!"
Max sighed and fished out the most adorable puppy eyes I've ever seen. "Please?"
I sighed. "Fine. But only because you did that."

"Ooh! How about we play a board game?" Nikki eagerly suggested, bouncing up and down.
"Sure," the others and I responded.
Nikki walked over to one of Max's shelves and picked up Life: The Game. "Let's see how we'll turn out as humans!"
"That's not-" I started to say.
   "LET'S START!"
We got the game all set up after that, and Nikki and Neil were having a flirty battle over who would be going first.
"Yooouuu go first~," Nikki said, stroking Neil's hair.
"No, ladies first. I insist," Neil said, standing up and taking a chivalrous bow.
This went on for a good five minutes. Max and I just sat there during it.
After the sixth minute ticked by, I pinched the bridge of my nose. "Can this get any worse? I should've left."
Max decided to break the annoying battle up. "Okay, lovebirds. We don't have all God damn day."
Neil cleared his throat awkwardly. "Okay. I guess I'll go first."

Ya know that area in Life where you get married and have a bunch of kids?
Well, that was a nightmare with Nikki and Neil around.
"Ooh! Yes!" Nikki cheered as she moved her car over a "you get married" space. She grabbed a male figure and placed it in the passenger seat. "That's you, Neil. You're my husband~."
Max and I both made fake gagging noises.
But that didn't stop Nikki and Neil. They both broke out into flirty giggles.
When the fit was over, Neil did his turn. "'You have twins!'" he recited from the card. He turned to Nikki and winked. "You're the mama."
Max and I groaned. We were not having this.

After the game was over, Neil and Nikki started giving nicknames to each other.
This is a brief list of the nicknames Nikki gave Neil:
Boo-Boo Bear, My Husbandoo, My Life Partner, Squishy Cheeks and Fuzz Butt.
These are some of the nicknames Neil gave Nikki:
My Pride and Joy, Nature Baby, Outdoors-woman, Baby Blue and Band-Aid Babe.
   Yuck.
Max and I turned to each other and cringed.
Like, why did they find that necessary to do?
I decided to leave when they started writing songs for each other.
When I was leaving, Max followed me, crimson red blush dusting his cheeks. "Hey, Y-Y/N?"
I turned to him. "What's up?"
He fiddled with his hood. "It is so hot in this room right now."
I put my hand on my hip. "Spit it out."
He inhaled and exhaled. "NikkiandNeilsaidthattheyweregonnasleepoverandIcan'tdealwiththatsocanIsleepatyourhouse?" Max said quickly.
"I heard about half of that. And yes. You can sleep over my place. But just don't let my mom know you're here."
Max smiled. "Thanks," he said.

The time was 10:07, and Max and I were in my bed. (I only have one.) Max was gently snoring, and I was wide awake, afraid I was gonna freaking squish him or something.
Max also moved around a lot in his sleep, so that kept me up too. Max must've realized that, because he cuddled me and whispered, "Go to bed. No worries."
"Okay," I said back. I then fell asleep with Max holding me.
