It's Ok

"Marco! I need to pee! GET OUT!!" Rosie was having a rough morning. She woke up late because she couldn't go to bed. The baby was kicking her all night, which meant she was up all night crying because that's what she does now, especially when it's late at night and her emotions are all over the place. Marco was able to go to sleep even through the kicking, screaming and crying. Rosie hates that, but he eventually wakes up to calm her down.
"Marco!!! I need to go to work!! Get out!!" She started to cry again.
"Rosie I will be out in 1 minute. Please go sit on the bed and breathe. Go call Molly and tell her you need to take off today."
"NO!"
Marco came out of the bathroom to find Rosie laying on the floor crying.
"Rosie, I know you're hormonal and upset and you didn't get a lot of sleep, but you look like a toddler. Please get up and go lay down. I will call Molly and tell her you won't be working today." He tried to grab her hand to help get up, but she pushed him away.
"GO AWAY! Did you just call me a toddler?!" She got up and went into the bathroom. Marco went downstairs to start breakfast and to give Rosie a break. He could still hear her sobs on the stairway. He wasn't sure how to help her at this point. All he could do is wait for her to calm down a little bit.
Rosie put her head down on the counter and continued to cry.
"Marco? Can you call Molly?" She yelled after a few minutes of calming down.
"Yes Ro." He called back while dialing Molly. After he called Molly he went upstairs to see how Rosie was doing.
"Ro? Rosie you awake?" He asked. He opened the bathroom door to find her asleep. "Rosie? Do you want to go to the bed?" He tried to get her to move out of the bathroom. "Baby?" He gave her a kiss, trying to wake her up. She woke up enough to realize where she was.
"Rosie, do you need help getting up?"
She shook her head yes and then tried got up from the floor. He helped her to the bed and then gave her kiss. "I love you."
"I love you too." She mumbled back.
He put the covers over her and then went to work.

She woke up two hours later. She checked her phone and saw that she had a bunch of voice messages. She pressed on the first one. It was from Marco at 9:00.

Rosie I put your food on the counter. Warm it up in the microwave. I'll be home around 4:00. I love you baby.

The next one was from Molly.

Hi Ro. Don't worry about not coming in today. It's fine. Take care of you and baby girl. Hugs and kisses.

The last one was from her mom.

Hi Rosie. Marco said you have been having a hard time this week. So I'm coming to help you out today. I'll be there around 9:40. See you soon.

"What? Mom?" She whispered to herself. "Wait, mom?" She called downstairs.
"I'm downstairs."
She went downstairs to find her mom putting dishes in the cabinets and food in the refrigerator.
"Mom?"
"Hi honey."
"What are you doing here?"
"I was told that you had a mental breakdown this morning. I thought I would come take care of you today."
"Why would he tell you that. Ughhhh!" Rosie complained while going over the couch.
"Ok don't get upset. Listen it's normal to be hormonal, but when you can't sleep at night and you're kicking and screaming at night, we need to help you out. So instead of doing that put music on and relax, because I don't think crying yourself to sleep is a great idea. Now take this and eat it."
Rosie rolled her eyes and then took the plate.

She spent the rest of the morning listening to her mother tell her what to do before, and after the baby comes, but mostly blocking her out with the tv in the background.
"Rosie, have you put the nursery together?"
"Umm, yeah. Marco has been putting it together. He's painting it light pink and putting unicorns and rainbows around the walls." She called to her mother, who was upstairs.
"Oh! It's adorable. It's perfect for a baby."
"Yeah, I thought so too." She said, while waddling up the stairs.
"Oh look at you. You're getting so big."
"Mom no, don't say that to me. The last time someone said that to me was when I was 10 at a family reunion of some sort." She said while leaning against the side of the door railing.
"Why don't you go get dressed?"
"Ok."

She put on one of her maternity dresses and then went downstairs. She decided to take some time to think about baby names. Now that they knew it was a girl she was able to simplify it down to just girl names.

"What're you doing?"
"Looking over baby names."
"Ooh. What do you have?"
She handed her mother the list.
"These are adorable. Do you know what you're gonna use?"
"Are you kidding? No. Not at all."
Her mother laughed. They

spent the rest of the day together watching movies until Marco came home.
"I'm gonna go home now. I love you, and I love you." Alice said to both Rosie and Marco while giving them hugs.
"I love you too mom. Thanks for spending the day with me."
"No problem. I'll see you guys soon. Bye."
"Bye." They both waved to her.
When she was all the way out Rosie started to glare at Marco.
"You jerk! You told my mother that I had a mental breakdown this morning?! Like seriously did you think I would be fine with that?!" She screamed.
"Ok first of all I didn't tell your mother that you had a mental breakdown. She called me after speaking to Molly. She asked me if you had a meltdown and told me that's what she did when she was pregnant with you. Molly must have told her you weren't in work today and that's when she decided to call me. She asked me how you were doing I said you were having a hard time. She figured out the rest on her own."
"Oh." Rosie looked down at her shoes.
"You don't have to be sorry. I know that's what it probably came across to be. Now that we have that settled, can I have a kiss?"
"Yes." She started to smile again. He gave her a kiss and then went into the kitchen.
"So instead of me cooking, can we just order pizza?" He asked.
         "Yes!!"
They both laughed.

They ate dinner in the living room while watching random movies on Netflix.
"Can I have the last piece?" She asked while reaching for the last piece of pizza.
"Sure. You almost ready for bed?"
"Not quite." She answered through a yawn and then springing her feet on to Marcos lap and putting the plate on her stomach.
"Are you sure you don't want to save that for tomorrow and just go to bed?"
"Ok, I guess so." She handed Marco the plate and went upstairs.

After getting dressed into pajamas, she hopped into bed and went on her phone until Marco came upstairs.
"Come here, I want to show you something." She begged as he walked into the room.
"Hold on, let me get ready for bed." She squinted her eyes.
"Ok, what do you want to show me?" He asked a few minutes later, after getting into bed.
         "Baby names." She beamed.
"I'm assuming you have a lot and neither of us have work tomorrow so let's save it for the morning."
"Ok fine." She frowned at him.
He gave her a kiss and then asked "are you ready to go to bed?"
"Ughhh!! Why did you have to say that?!"
"Kicking again?"
"Ughhh!!!!! MAKE IT STOP!!!" She started to scream.
"Rosie, I'm sorry, but you can't do this. You need to relax and try and sleep. Doing this won't help."
She rolled over on to her side facing the dresser and began to sob. Marco pulled her over to him and cuddled her and then began rubbing her back and hair. She tried to push him away, but he realized if he didn't calm her down she would have another breakdown for 3 hours until she finally cried herself to sleep.
"Rosie, take a deep breath and try to calm down." He told her while he wrapped his arms around her and put his head on hers.
"GO WAY!!! I just want to sleep!!" She yelled. She was kicking him at this point.
"Rosie stop kicking me. I'm trying to help you, and if you stop panicking you will be able to go to sleep."
"No I won't!!" She finally kicked him enough to get him to stop comforting her.
"Fine, if you don't want me to help you I'm gonna go to bed." He turned around on to his other side and began to fall asleep.
"No!! Marco!! MARCO!! STOP!!!!" She screamed.
He rolled over to see her. "Rosie I was trying to help you sleep but you don't want my help and I actually need to go to bed because I'm tired. It's not fair that you're keeping me awake. If you want my help then take it when I'm very willingly offering it." He rolled back over onto his side.
She rolled over onto her back and began to sob. She laid there for a few minutes until she got out of bed and walked back and forth, while still practically screaming. Marco was fast asleep. She tried to wake him up once but gave up very quickly. She went downstairs to get a drink of water and then got back in bed. She stayed there for a few minutes but then got up to go to the bathroom. Marco woke up to the sound of her screaming, that was coming from the bathroom and realized it had been about two hours and she was still screaming. He got up and walked over to the bathroom. He opened the door to see if she was in some sort of pain.
"Are you ok?" He asked through a yawn.
She just continued to sob.
"Baby, you're exhausted and you're straining your voice by screaming that much. Can I please help you relax and go to sleep?"
Rosie got up and flushed the toilet and washed her hands, still screaming through all of this.
"Baby come lay down on the bed, take a couple of breaths and calm down."
She wasn't able to talk so she just walked right past him and and continued to sob. Tears were streaming down her cheeks all the way to her shirt. She went to the end of the bed and put her face into it and screamed. Marco ran to her side and put her onto his lap and put her head on his shoulder.
"Sweetheart, you're gonna make yourself puke. You're overly exhausted and you're not letting yourself sleep." He was rubbing her back and started to kiss the top of her head, then he picked her up and placed her gently onto the bed without letting go of her.
"Shh, it's ok. Baby it's ok. You need to stop screaming." He began to rock her back and forth and kissed her cheeks while the tears streamed down her bright red face and filled her bright red eyes.
Marco realized it was about 1:30 now, and she had gotten no sleep and showed no signs of being able to stop. At this point she was just so tired it was worth it to just let her cry herself to sleep. He still continued to rock her and rub her back and kiss her. But she just continued to cry.
"Honey this has gotten out of hand. You and the baby both need to sleep. You have to relax your body. Please. We're both so tired honey. You can't even function. Please, please go to bed." She continued to cry. They both knew this would be their longest night up so far and it was almost 2:00.
Thirty minutes later, she was still sobbing, but not as hard. He put music on to try and relax her. Around 2:50 she finally stoped sobbing and just cried lightly.
"It's ok baby." He continued to say. He kissed her forehead. He was practically asleep, but stayed awake to help her.
He got up to go to the bathroom. She laid there moveless and started to cry less and less.
"I'll be back soon baby." He whispered.
She finally closed her eyes and started to breathe normally again.
When he was washing his hands he couldn't hear her crying anymore. He was happy to see she had fallen asleep. He got into bed and kissed the last tear on her cheek away and being extra careful not to wake her.
"It's ok." He whispered again. Then he curled up next to her, and finally, was able to sleep.
