I'm WHAT!?!?
~Three Months Later
I was walking through the halls to get to the healer's ward. I'd been getting sick in the morning for the past month or so. I didn't have a fever or other illness - technically, because I'm an Elf I shouldn't be sick at all! - so I was going to ask the healers what might be wrong. As I stepped into the room I was greeted by Elviondel, the Elvish head of the healers.
"Prince Legolas!" he exclaimed, shocked. "What are you doing here?"
I smiled at him, "Elviondel, I've been getting sick in the mornings for the past month or so. I figured it was just the drinks I was having with Aragorn before bed, but then I stopped and was still getting sick. Do you have any idea what it is?"
He frowned, "I have an idea. But I'll need to examine you. Please step inside my office."
I walked inside the room and sat on the table as I was instructed. Elviondel had me take off my shirt and began to poke and prod about my stomach region. He then stood up and touched my chest. I pulled away and hissed – why was I so sensitive there? Elviondel stood up, startled, and began to chuckle. I had no idea what he was laughing at.
"Elviondel, what is so funny?"
"I haven't seen anything like his in years!" he mused. "Legolas, you know that the females of other races are able to bear children, right?"
"Yes."
"This goes for all races, save one. Male Elves can become pregnant. And you, my Prince, are with child."
I froze. How could I forget something like that? I let Aragorn bed me and now I was going to have his child. Arwen would kill me for sure. I just stared at Elviondel.
"What?" I squeaked.
"Yes. The morning sickness should be over soon. You'll have other things to worry about though. Your chest is filling with milk so that you may nurse your baby. You will not have breasts but you will be able to nurse. You will be sensitive there for a while. Also, you will be quite tired most of the time and mood swings will accompany that. You will probably feel like you want to eat anything and everything. This is normal and you should eat. You may have cravings but do not forget to eat other things as well. Stay healthy and don't strain yourself. Any questions?"
I gathered my composure, "When would you say the baby is due?"
"Judging by what you've of me about the morning sickness I'd say you've been pregnant for about three months. So, the baby would be due in about six months or thereabouts. I suggest you take it easy, my Prince."
"I will."
We said farewell and I made my way back to my chambers. How would I tell Arwen and Aragorn that I was pregnant with the King's child?
A/N Elviondel is my freind Daniel's name in Elvish. Thanks to CherryBlossomSky for showing me a site where I could get Elvish names. Elviondel is the Elf in the picture. One comment and one vote for an update.
